As a British Sikh i was not a particularly spiritual person when i visited the Golden Temple and was pretty stressed by time i got there (i drove 2 1/2 hours), but as i walked around it i felt my self calming. by the time i got to the Har Mandir Sahib itself i was totally relaxed and for the fist time i would say spiritual, by that i mean totally at peace with my self and all those around me, i felt like this once i had reached the top and honestly did not want to leave. It really did affect me.
The Golden Temple is the only building in theworld that when I first looked at it I could feel tears running down my eyes WOW for me it meant so much more than the TaJ and I grew up a catholic

I'm a muslim and my parents are from paks. This place in this video has a strong meaning to me even though I am not a sikh. The reason behind that is this place (Amritsar) is my history. A large part of my family was from this beautiful city. It was this place and Lahore. It is a shame things had to go the way they did over 50 years ago when one half of my family had to flee Amritsar. But I suppose a lot of Sikhs originally from Lahore have the same feeling as I do.
I'm glad that you like Golden Temple in Amritsar and just want to tell you that the foundation stone was kept by a muslim " Sai Mian Mir ji". People from all faiths are allowed to vist. Whatever you wish from your heart get fulfilled here with the blessings of Waheguru.
Dear monamonaji, I am a Sikh and I don't believe Sikhs are 'superior' to anyone - nobody is superior than anybody. Sikhs have always stood for universal equality of humans. Please do not offend our Hindu brothers and sisters. Whoever you are, and whatever your aim is, dear friend, please be kind and don't spread hate.
It's a Sikh Gurdwara(house of guru - sikh place of worship)
And they don't feed people in the temple, but in a separate building in the complex. It's called "Langar" and it is a free vegetarian meal for anyone, regardless of caste, color, race, gender, etc. It's served all throughout the day for anyone, for free.
I will say that it is really amazing and i would love to go there. Sikhs are cool people but they come across to me as kinda scary because you can tell when its fake sikhs gold x no offence
remember we all are equal........but some of us are more equal than others and that is what sikhs are.....i'm not talking about who are born in a sikh family but the ones who ar sikhs by their deeds.

nikwagh, I pity your ignorance. In that case, all Muslims are Christians (since Mohommed PBUH) was born in a Christian family. All Christians are Jews, since Jesus was born a Jew. All Jews are athiests or primitive societies, which preceded them, and we are all cavemen, since that's what all our ancestors really were. Religions and beliefs evolve just as societies evolve. Are you willing to accept that all Hindus are cavemen because all Hindus have primitive, tribal origins?
I said you have Hindu origins and the people in Punjab and Haryana whether Hindu or Sikh are of the same group, please learn to read.
I didn't say Hindus and Sikhs were the same religion.
Also no Mohammed was not a Christian. I don't know what ridiculous history textbooks you have been perusing but that made me laugh quite a bit, thanks.
I agree that Guru Nanak was a hindu but Sikhs and Hindus are not the same !! We have different beliefs and Sikhism is totally different dan Hinduism !
and whn did i say he was a hindu ? :-S obviously he was born as a hindu but as a started a new religion he automatically changed his religion to sikhism
why people keep on blaming on me for no reason ? :-S
To be honest which ever faith the Guru Ji was born into is not important, and that is the point i think everyone is making to you and you are missing!
But the fact that you raised the point of him being born into a Hindu family must be of importance to you or why else bring it up? It is that reason that has prompted all the responses you have since recieved after the comment you made. Surely you must see this.
do u guys know that if u kill in side the gloden temple you die in 6 months by sikhs and in 1948 the government attacked the golden temple because they thought there were teriost there and a few months later the prime minister died by 2 sikhs
fiji is a country close to austraila. half of its population is hindu (with sikhs and muslims there also). Here in Canada we have many hindus from fiji thats why brother here thinks hindus are from fiji even tho thats far from the truth..the only Officially hindu state in the world is nepal
Hinduism has a completely different philosophy, it is a much older religion. Sikhism and Hinduism are like black and white. The only way they are similar is their love for humanity.
How different two groups are depends on your perspective. I believe hindus and sikhs are the same, much the same way that I believe Protestants and Catholics are the same. I believe in the ecumenical approach to religions, there are already too many differences around.
misra, it doesn't depend on perspective, it depends on facts. People can distort all they want and prefer delusions. Catholics and Protestants have far more in common than Hindus and Sikhs...they're different sects under the same roof of Christianity.
The Sikh Gurus clearly rejected the practices of the Hindu kin they were born into. They sought a reform in India, rid of caste, gender bias, and the likes. The Sikhs and Hindus have very distinct belief systems.
1. baxter, i grew up in india where i have seen a lot of hindu sikh intermarrying. that in itself says how seperate the 2 groups are. 2. the sikhs are not free of caste and class either. 3. somehow i have found that sikhs in uk and canada are very rigid and fundamentalist in their beliefs. my sikh friends in india are in fact embarrassed by their overseas relatives
dmisra, I am very embarrassed by Hindu fundamentalists that believe Hinduism and Sikhism is the same...that is propaganda, my friend. Please come out of your extremist attitude. I don't understand why Hindus are always trying to assert these silly things and cannot accept two clearly distinct religions as they are. I have lived in India for a large part of my life. You are not a Sikh, so do not pretend to speak on behalf of them.
im not sikh either but i bet i know more about sikhi than ALOT of sikhs, and yes sikhism and hinduism are differnt religons. just because nanak was born a hindu doesnt make sikhism a branch of hinduism. (same goes with jesus being born a hebrew) though we may have some similar beliefs (issues on tolerance, actions towards others, basicly all the good ones) we have different practices.
1. Intermarrying does not have anything to with this. I know many Christian-Sikh marriages (at least as many as Hindu-Sikh marriages), does this mean Christianity and Sikhism are the same?
2. Please show me where in the Guru Granth Sahib any of the Gurus or saints promote casteism. Please tell me the last time a dalit was not allowed to enter a Gurudwara and had his hands chopped off for entering a "higer caste" area.
thats ignorance right there, using the fact that dalits were abused by social standards. nowhere in hinduism does it say to treat a lower caste badly.
IT IS AGAINST THE SIKH RELIGION TO HAVE CASTES. (They castes you saw were social casts, meaning that if you're rich your rich. There are many ways to prove that Sikhs don't believe in castes. 1: Sikhs sit on the same floor to eat, even the Gurus sat on the same floor that the beggar was. 2: In the Hindu religion only priests are allowed to read from the HOLY HOLY book, In Sikhism all people are allowed read.) NOW DO YOU GET IT. DUDE GET OVER IT SIKHISM IS NOT EVEN CLOSELY RELEVANT TO HINDUS!!
in the gita-ages when a god was incarnated, not all would be born into the highest caste, some second or third (ram; a main god and an example) it only became a problem when modern day SOCIAL STATUS india would start saying things like "ur a dalit and should be cleaning latrines" people dont know is that modern day dalits hold the most power in india and brahmins are trying to change their name to get equal status. i know that sikhs are differnt from hindus and have prized and unique beliefs.
thats a common misconception that hinduism is polytheistic, we are infact henotheistic (we believe in ONE, GENDERLESS, FORMLESS, ALL POWEREFUL HIGHER ENTITY but worshipped in many forms and incarnations.
No,im Christian I just believe the original teaches and philosophys of all religions have been corrupted by war, greed, jealously of man,but they teach you self-control,peace of mind, and believing in something more important then yourself, something I can respect, but something that can be easily corrupted by man=0
They could have been lost,re-rewritten,burned,etc,lost,etc. Put it like this through time storys change. Like in school when someone fights people talk about it and start to add in things that didnt belong in the original story and the end product can be something that can be total false. Krishna,Hanuman, etc could have been saints like st.Paul,Jesus,Mohammad, etc not demi-gods.
Yea and Christians have found what they believe to be the remains of Noah's Ark. Maybe you can enlighten me with some of this so called evidence. Last time Hindu's claimed to have proof of the remains of the bridge Ram had supposedly built, that was shot down by scientists as natural sand formation. So yea, I still stand by what I said, complete Myth. Only, Greek Mythology is more interesting!
Dude, Hindus for all I know HATE HUMANITY. Read about it. They killed soo many sikhs during 1984. They killed SSOOOOO many muslims. They hate everybody.
"It was the Congress leaders who instigated mobs in 1984 and got more than 3000 people killed. I must give due credit to RSS and the BJP for showing courage and protecting helpless Sikhs during those difficult days. BJP party leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee himself intervened at a couple of places to help poor taxi drivers." The Bharatiya Janata Party strongly condemned the riots.-Khushwant Singh
It is breathtaking how beautiful it is.

The Golden Temple is run by one caste that are all Jatt that run the committee and that is fact.
They are racking the money that goes in their pocket.
How can they help the poor?
Guru Nanak Dev Ji said you cannot be a Sikh if your follow the caste system.
We need to look at reality and be honest caste still exists and is rampant in Sikhism.

My dear sardar friends
1.after Bluestar 1984 the number of sardars in indian army has dropped alarmingly.
2.The whole sikh regiment has been moved to Ramgarh Jharhkand 1200km away from punjab.
3.the 9 sikh regiment composed of purely sikh soldiers has been totally disbanded.
4.the 13 sikh which is the core now is composed of some sikhs and rest other ethnicities.
5.not sikhs themselves but the recruitment policies of General Vaidya caused sikhs to desert the Indian army.

dude whn did i say it was a bad thing ? :-S
and whn did i say he was a hindu ? :-S obviously he was born as a hindu but as a started a new religion he automatically changed his religion to sikhism
why people keep on blaming on me for no reason ? :-S
roopamkamboj93 2 years ago
To be honest which ever faith the Guru Ji was born into is not important, and that is the point i think everyone is making to you and you are missing!
But the fact that you raised the point of him being born into a Hindu family must be of importance to you or why else bring it up? It is that reason that has prompted all the responses you have since recieved after the comment you made. Surely you must see this.
Next time just say nice video, as it is!
I hope this ends your confusion.

sikhs do not belive only in Gurus they mostly beleave in god, the Gurus guided the skihs as leader and a teacher to the teachings of the god
movieguy03124 3 years ago
do u guys know that if u kill in side the gloden temple you die in 6 months by sikhs and in 1948 the government attacked the golden temple because they thought there were teriost there and a few months later the prime minister died by 2 sikhs

Sikhs believe in Vaheguru.
Sikhs believe that there is only ONE universal god for all religions, they just gave them differend names.
and punjabis arent sikhs, punjabis can be buddhists, muslims, christs, jews, hindus, sikhs, and all the religions i forgot here.

what do you mean hindus are fijians
dmisra75 4 years ago
fiji is a country close to austraila. half of its population is hindu (with sikhs and muslims there also).

The only way they are similar is their love for humanity.
baxterrani 3 years ago
How different two groups are depends on your perspective. I believe hindus and sikhs are the same, much the same way that I believe Protestants and Catholics are the same. I believe in the ecumenical approach to religions, there are already too many differences around.
dmisra75 3 years ago
misra, it doesn't depend on perspective, it depends on facts.
The Sikhs and Hindus have very distinct belief systems.
baxterrani 3 years ago
1. baxter, i grew up in india where i have seen a lot of hindu sikh intermarrying. that in itself says how seperate the 2 groups are. 2. the sikhs are not free of caste and class either. 3. somehow i have found that sikhs in uk and canada are very rigid and fundamentalist in their beliefs. my sikh friends in india are in fact embarrassed by their overseas relatives
dmisra75 3 years ago
dmisra, I am very embarrassed by Hindu fundamentalists that believe Hinduism and Sikhism is the same...that is propaganda, my friend. Please come out of your extremist attitude. I don't understand why Hindus are always trying to assert these silly things and cannot accept two clearly distinct religions as they are. I have lived in India for a large part of my life. You are not a Sikh, so do not pretend to speak on behalf of them.
baxterrani 3 years ago
im not sikh either but i bet i know more about sikhi than ALOT of sikhs, and yes sikhism and hinduism are differnt religons. just because nanak was born a hindu doesnt make sikhism a branch of hinduism. (same goes with jesus being born a hebrew) though we may have some similar beliefs (issues on tolerance, actions towards others, basicly all the good ones) we have different practices.
ChetanUSharma 3 years ago 3
If you can't, please stop being ignorant.
baxterrani 3 years ago
thats ignorance right there, using the fact that dalits were abused by social standards. nowhere in hinduism does it say to treat a lower caste badly.
ChetanUSharma 3 years ago 3
NigFlick 3 years ago 3
in the gita-ages when a god was incarnated, not all would be born into the highest caste, some second or third (ram; a main god and an example) it only became a problem when modern day SOCIAL STATUS india would start saying things like "ur a dalit and should be cleaning latrines" people dont know is that modern day dalits hold the most power in india and brahmins are trying to change their name to get equal status. i know that sikhs are differnt from hindus and have prized and unique beliefs.
ChetanUSharma 3 years ago
HINDUS AND SIKHS ARE DIFFRENT. Hindus bleive in (I don't know) 500 gods. Sikhs belive in 1 god. Hindus are DIFFRENT!!!
AKA: I Love sikhs. I met one once he was soooo kind.
NigFlick 3 years ago 5
thats a common misconception that hinduism is polytheistic, we are infact henotheistic (we believe in ONE, GENDERLESS, FORMLESS, ALL POWEREFUL HIGHER ENTITY but worshipped in many forms and incarnations.

Hinduism is a Mythological Religion no more believable than Greek or Roman Mythology!
ninjadude666 2 years ago
You should read the "mythology" in books like the Bible. The earth was created in 7 days.........Or bowing down to a black rock..........
BengalG3 2 years ago
Correction, the Bible is the greatest fairy tale ever written...
ninjadude666 2 years ago
No,im Christian I just believe the original teaches and philosophys of all religions have been corrupted by war, greed, jealously of man,but they teach you self-control,peace of mind, and believing in something more important then yourself, something I can respect, but something that can be easily corrupted by man=0
BengalG3 2 years ago
And what are those Original Teachings & Philosophies?
ninjadude666 2 years ago
They could have been lost,re-rewritten,burned,etc,lost,etc. Put it like this through time storys change. Like in school when someone fights people talk about it and start to add in things that didnt belong in the original story and the end product can be something that can be total false. Krishna,Hanuman, etc could have been saints like st.Paul,Jesus,Mohammad, etc not demi-gods.
BengalG3 2 years ago
I am not a hindu, but hinduism is not a myth as most people believe, there is evidence regarding it.
dilshad123 2 years ago
