  • Ahh shaddap you racist, uneducated inbreds go screw your cousins some more. Big talk behind your computers or drive by yelling in your fcken cars and speed off, say that to our face you'd get bashed in, but no, you don't have the balls to. And lmao at Wab's opening comment is so random.

  • HEY NEW BRUNSWICK WHAT YOU DOING WITH YOUR 8 BILLION DOLLERS

  • i'd like to wab his kinew

  • just like everyone else. by the way I've seen people of all races/ cultures pass out on the street if anyone is stereotyping it's you. It's not the alcohol it's a mind set there are native living in this area I live of the city to get away from whats going on downtown and in the north end. people of all races are sexually abused. The only way people move ahead is by working together so quit generalizing. Cause your saying this like all white people say this stuff when that's not true...

  • Stop asking to be my man on the side for the fiftieth time. I don't pass out at concerts I grew up on welfare k wab and I've had more native people be racist to me cause I'm white then I've had Blacks, Mexicans, Arabs none of them are racist to me and I'm white I'm very polite too I see past the colour of someones skins until someone blames me for stealing their land well you know I wasn't here 200 years ago either were you the only way you can move ahead is to pick yourself up....

  • Ummm the 8 billion that goes to New Brunswick is generated by the tax contribution of the people who live and work there. What a stupid video !

  • @trolllkiller sooo are you telling us aboriginal people don't generate money??Don't pay taxes?? Racism is alive and well and living right here is Canada...hope you will part of the solution and not the problem...'education is OUR buffalo!!'

  • @trolllkiller Sorry about your daughter. But your right It's rare you hear a white guy gang rape someone with 10 other people It happens but we don't hear about it as often.

  • @trolllkiller this is by far the most idiotic comment I have seen on youtube, to date.

  • this video wab made is sooo true ! , atleast hes standing up for his people , good job ! (:

  • wow.. Wab never ceases to amaze me! EVERYONE NEEDS TO SEE THIS!

  • What you guys still pay taxes in Canada.. That is crazy.. Get rid of that prostitute Steve.. can`t stand that loser... and give back the land to the natives stop Occupying their land....

  • Love, "Who's really getting the free ride?"

  • @Ajidamoon yup my point exactly, nd I don't get why Anyone judges natives based on a few drunk ones or homeless ones... We have a lot of talented, educated nd successful people. If they want to speak past, what about all the diseases "they" brought to our land nd people. We would probly be the most healthy people if it wasn't for their "inventions".

  • All he is asking for in this video is for a little understanding..some of you people are acting like he's commanding you to bow down before him.

  • Pff haha GAS, there is not a "native" gas station at every pit stop we make. You don't see natives waving there cards for tax free gas at shell. Wow your worried about gas Hahahaha ! Have your gas, I have an electric car ;)

  • @7thswimmer Exactly. The closest NDN gas station to where I live most of the year, is almost an hours drive away......not quite worth it to save a buck. Its funny how non-Natives never complain about tax breaks when they are lining up on the nearest Res to get their smokes cheaper.

  • I'll partially agree with him..but you treaty indians get cheaper gas than us whites, because you dont pay taxes on it plus what you pay in income tax you get it all back . Am i right???

  • @Browningauto5mag The gas is cheaper because there is no tax on it. Trucking corpororations also get tax breaks on gasoline. Single parents get every dime of their income tax back. Does that bother you too?

  • @Browningauto5mag No you are wrong.

  • Well-spoken, well-said, without anger, rancor, condemnation. He could speak as well for the native peoples of the US, and this would all be true, just change the figures and the names of the agencies. Truth does not need to be spoken with attendant rage. For me, it has more impact spoken as this man speaks it.

  • @TheResidentPoet He just generalized all non-Native people. That's called "racism". He even generalized his own people to an extent.

  • LOL I love it do another one!!!! xoxox

  • Why don't the people complaining about their problems come up with a video like this? Step up for your selves.

  • My elders scapped by everyday and my great grandfather who came from Russia had a hard and terrible life. What about the christians and the east indians? Why are they not compensated for the pain and torture they went thru? There are so many cultures that have had the same expierences (african americans) and none of them receive any comensation, or have a reserve to live on.

  • @misschilliwack We aren't being compensated.......we aren't receiving "reparations". The moneys we receive from AANAC (INAC) are our OWN moneys...held in trust, for ceding our lands. Our Reserves, are the land WE Reserved for ourselves, upon the sale of our ancestrals to you, for you. Now you have been educated.

  • @Ajidamoon Everyone conquered everyone else back then. Aboriginals got the sweetest deal in all of conquest.

  • @FitnessByMatt Did you even watch the video? He is talking about the here and now.....not the "back then". You are seriously deluded with your poor white boy attitude.

  • @Ajidamoon He may be talking about the here and now but the reason it is like this is because of "back then" Deluded white boy attitude...how about entitled indian attitude?

  • @FitnessByMatt so out of 100% of the entire native population before being conquored, a remainding 5% of that is the sweetest deal in all of conquest. I guess if you look at it as an endagered species getting special treatment to keep it surviving than maybe it might look like a sweet deal from an outside perspective, but from an insiders perspective. Not so sweet.

  • @misschilliwack Great post. I don't hear Chinese complaining and demanding money from the Japanese who murdered millions of them in WWII.

  • @FitnessByMatt I was on the first nations people side at first and tried to understand them but as a white person they couldnt believe it. I got called ignorant and had the whole "tribe" gang up on me. So now my attitude has changed. We couldnt help them if we tried because they think all us white men are evil and are automatically against them. Nothing we give them will ever be enough.

  • @misschilliwack LMAO. We think all white men are evil, eh? Your funny. None of the crimes committed against us started because of racism. They started because of entitlement, greed and a sanction from the god of Abraham. We aren't asking for your help.....we are asking for your RESPECT. Your UNDERSTANDING. And the admittance that what has been done and is still being done, isn't working. And until the myths are done away with, there is no moving forward.

  • @misschilliwack Well. to put it in basic terms. Were an endangered race( not to the extreme anymore, our numbers are growing quicker than any in Canada) with an endangered culture. Another factor, were still living in our traditional homeland. We were invaded, some tribes got conquered, some formed unhonored treaties. So in turn we are prisoners of war in a sense, trapped on small pieces of land, with people from all over the world living on large land areas that were once ours.

  • @misschilliwack African Americans fought for compensation in a different way. They wanted to be accepted by "white" people and be their equals. Natives don't care for the approval of anyone, we are who we are, Indigenious peoples. We want our culture to be restored and respected(not saying we want the gov't to do this for us) We want our treaties to be respected. We as a people want to be respected. and We want above all else, the land to be respected. As far as compensations go.

  • @Azteca13K That sounded kind of hateful towards African Americans. They wanted their civil rights and to be treated equal. What I meant was, they no longer had a culture because they were stolen and brought to the Americas to be slaves. So all they knew was the American way, so thats what they fought for. We always had our way of life. We want to preserve it. So thats why we bring up these issues. You can't move forward by just ignoring the past. You have to first embrace it.

  • @Azteca13K African Americans no longer have a culture? Are you kidding me? All we know is the American way? Please don't speak for us! I am excedingly proud of my culture and work hard to preserve it. Black culture and history is more than Mr. King Jr. and Malcolm X. It's more than Rosa Parks. I'm not trying to dis you but please be respectful and speak from a place of knowledge and truth. And I will endeavour to do the same for you.

  • @fmbadeau Sorry I didn't mean to generalize you as a whole. I'm just saying a majority of African Americans(4th or 5th gen.) don't have their traditional culture, many have either adopted the catholic or christian way etc. I was just saying natives are still on their homeland so we still have our old ancient traditional culture, we have to fight extra hard to preserve it, especially in todays world where technology & money is everything because that takes away from teaching it.

  • @Azteca13K Gotcha! Respect to you and peace on your head!

  • What I think is sad is that first nations people are trying to educate everyone about their culture(which is great) but if someone makes a comment they dont like..then comes the name calling..ignorant. That really makes a "white" person want to change their opinion. First nations werent the only people that were killed because of their beliefs..east indians had a similar up bringing which is why there is hindu and sikhism. Christians were murdered for their beliefs as well.

  • @misschilliwack Exactly. If you're White, you're damned if you do, you're damned if you don't. I see no point in helping.

  • @misschilliwack I know this isn't religious But think about the holocaust white slaughtering white. I don`t see Jews, gypsy's, or gays complaining about hitler 24/7 saying how he killed my grandma no cause if he did u wouldn't be here. My old boss was jewish he was hilarious never once has he ever complained or joked about the holocaust. I hear where your coming from all other black, mexican, east indian people I know would accept a joke or a comment that is different from theirs.

  • Everyone's an internet tough guy/girl until they bump into a REAL NEECHI, then the words cease to assist yo BIG MOUTH #JustSayin

  • @anishinabebeauty Ummmm... Indians are people who cook with curry, wrote the Kama Sutra, and come from INDIA among other things. Look on a map. Get educated, and don't make ignorant and irrelevant claims.

  • @clgcguy Actually, we are just as Indian as they are...just a different kind of Indian. LEGAL Indians, under the law. Which is why i have a Certificate of INDIAN Status. Who is the one making the ignorant and irrelevant claims here?

  • everyone stfu.. Indians are the way they are becuz of the white man!

  • @Ajidamoon false, false, and false. Subsidization is NOT available to every Canadian. I've never received free school supplies, cash for school sports road trips, free medication, paid to visits to the hospital, band paid tuition, money to play recreational sports, ect, ect. Don't pretent these things don't exist. Unfortunately I was born "white" and not given these advantages. And a drunk is a drunk. I had a drunk for a grandfather, don't even preach to me.

  • @clgcguy Geared to income housing is available for anyone who is considered low-income in Canada, subsidized child care, subsidized youth sports, subsidized medication. NO ONE pays for a hospital visit out of pocket. Many different churches/social clubs/Cadet corps/Legions/Businesses offer scholarships to their parishioners/members/children's members. A band paid scholarship is NO different.

  • @clgcguy If you have never had to access the host of wonderful social programs that Canada has to offer, then you are a lucky guy....but make no mistake they are available to you, if you so need them.

  • @clgcguy Your Grandfather may have been a drunk, but I am willing to bet no one assumes you are because of it, nor because you share the same last name, or the same skin colour.

  • @lucidxd I'm failing to see many advantages to me just because I'm white. Both sides of my family come from very modest backgrounds, anything but wealthy. Working class with many of us being tradesmen. Yes there are aboriginal programs, but don't forget about subsidized education, housing and medicare. Being born into poverty is a tragedy, regarless of your color. Poverty exists everywhere. Some folks insist on leaning on a 200 year old crutch, and its gonna break someday soon.

  • @clgcguy Subsidized housing, education, dental and medical are things EVERY Canadian has access to if they need it. Your advantage is that no one has ever assumed you are a welfare drunk, just because you are a certain race. No one has ever denied you a job because they assume you will call in drunk. No one has ever randomly come up to you on the street and told you they are sick of their taxes supporting you. No one has denied you the right to purchase mouthwash because you're white.

  • Tapwe

  • whoa a lot of... disputes going on about this video. anyway, wab you make a fellow native proud!

  • Howah, I know that guy! He's from "Saskabingbong," not far from my reserve. His dad is a professor at University of Manitoba and his mom, or aunt or something is the "warrior woman/woman warrior" (Ogichidaakwe) of Treaty 3.

I'd try to explain "our issues" but it's hard within 500 characters. It would take many posts. It has everything to do with "a long time ago" for those us who are "Canadian." (1763, 1873, 1876 etc)

  • [1] Native people commit public drunkenness and violent crime far in disproportion to their levels of poverty, so no, it is not poverty.

[2] Natives were paid $1.9 billion for Residential School abuses - real or not - so yes, get over it. Either take the money and drop it or don't take it and keep guilting everyone. Taking the money and continuing this guilt trip is extortion. Not forgiving someone who apologized is abuse. Every race has experienced trauma.

  • @FitnessByMatt [3] My half-Native cousin has long hair and it has nothing to do with Native Pride, he's just too lazy to cut it. Also, is anyone seriously complaining that Natives have long hair? Talk about creating a strawman to draw attention away from the real issues.

[4] Indian Affairs gets almost $12 billion a year, not $7 billion. This is in addition to other claims. Secondly, New Brunswick is a functional economy. They are not just handed over money for free so it's not the same thing.

  • @FitnessByMatt [5] As for the conquest of the Americas, if you didn't notice, all land was acquired by force in that time period. European men were [and still are] just better at doing what everyone else is doing. Maybe you are jealous. You know what Natives did when they conquered other Native tribes? They raped and murdered everyone down to the last child. So stop selectively getting mad when White men do it. In reality, you got the best deal in the history of conquest.

  • @FitnessByMatt They did huh.....ALL Natives did that? Even the hundreds an hundreds of tribes you have never even heard about, as their existence wasn't interesting enough or they didn't have enough major conflict with incoming settlers that would necessitate writing them into history texts...Seems like you are the racist here.

  • @FitnessByMatt Yeah look at those guys run the country. Look at all that deficit, pollution and those bail outs. You're number 1. I don't see how you think that any of this has an effect on you because at the end of the day it's my peoples issue. We are the ones who have to deal with people like you.

  • @FitnessByMatt I guess you missed to news, where a Native boy's hair was lopped off by a teacher's aid in Thunder Bay.....even after she had been told by the school he was growing it for ceremony. She took it upon herself to give him a haircut, made him look at it in the mirror and said "there, look at you now". She wasn't even fired. They deemed forcibly cutting someone's hair wasn't assault, and decided charges were not in the public's best interest.

  • @Ajidamoon So you have one example of White-on-Native abuse. A forced haircut makes national news. But a 17 year old Native assaults and hospitalizes a 90 year old White woman and not a peep out of Canada's mainstream news. Yeah, no double standard here at all.

Yep, no conscious anti-White agenda at work here folks! Move along!

  • @FitnessByMatt Nope, sorry dude, it didn't make National News....it made local news. I wouldn't have ever even heard about it, were it not for watching a certain local news station whilst on vacation. Anti-white agenda? You are delusional. Do you spend your weekends wearing Doc Martens, sporting a flight jacket, giving your close friends crew-cuts?

  • @FitnessByMatt Yet a month later when a woman's pony tail was cut off while riding they bus, they certainly charged the late-teen who did it, with assault. That to me, is a real issue. Its an issue that states if you are First Nations, you are not equal under the law.....even if you are just a kid.

  • @FitnessByMatt "Uuuhhhnnn my half-native cousin" Really? That's almost as good as "I'm not racist! I have a friend who's black. His name is.... aaaa.. Mike!"

I agree the system is flawed. There is a lot of abused funds but you can't just throw money at things and expect them to go away. We're coming around though. It's getting better and then when it does what excuse will you have for hating us.

  • Comment removed

  • @FitnessByMatt "Not forgiving someone who apologized is abuse" You are kidding, right? What kind of completely disgusting statement is that? Have you read any of the statements issued by the Churches, or the lame dance the Pope did? They certainly are admissions of guilt....and you have the audacity to state "real or not"......and there are thousands of Natives who never accepted any such pay out....

  • @FitnessByMatt You've got some balls, or none at all, to suggest the issue be glossed over now that money has exchanged hands between some people. Perhaps you would like to move to Texas where they rewrite history texts to exclude events they don't like. Would you tell white molestation survivors of the Catholic church to stop whining about it after the church issued an apology to them? You are a first class ignoramus.

  • @FitnessByMatt So what are you trying to say? That is if you have money you can do what ever you want? Bend over Matt, take that. "I'm sorry, here's 10 bucks for your time and a new pair of gitch." Really?

It's not about guilt. I haven't received any money and I sure as hell don't want anybodies pity.

  • @lucidxd I've busted my hump and overcome a lot to get to where I am today. All the stereotypes, substance; sex and child abuse, neglect, dependance on welfare. It stops with me. I work hard and I pay for my children to go to private school so they get a better education than I did. I volunteer in the community, the kids I coach call me "Chief" Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal. I am a role model and an example. I'm sick and tired of white people saying why can't more Indians be like you?

  • @FitnessByMatt Of course it's not poverty alone. Many people who are sexually abused and experienced trauma as children develop addiction and Psychological problems. Now we all know that not all of the people that we see on the streets went to residential schools but I'm sure that they had family members that did. Family members that in turn abused them or neglected them. So wise up! Besides, do you really think the gov's spending on Aboriginals affects you. tsk, tsk!

  • When people stop judging and take the time to listen to other people's truth we actually come to understand one another!

  • @fmbadeau Yeah, because that hasn't been tried for the past 50 years or anything.

  • @FitnessByMatt That's right Matt. It hasn't. And you're proving my point perfectly. I am a 47 year old Creol woman and have witnessed enough racism in my own time to make me sick. And I get the best of both worlds being both Black and Native. In order to listen (and understand other people's truth) you have to stop talking once in a while. And you're doing a LOT of talking here. Have people been listening for the last 50 years? Hell no! So let's give them the opportunity to do so now.

  • @fmbadeau Then go live in Africa. You will never have to live around White "racists" again.

  • @FitnessByMatt Yes, because we all know that there are no white racists in Africa! Hmmm, looks like someone needs a better education ;0)

  • I dig your vibe Wab. From some white dude.

  • Question: What is the only thing worse than a stupid Indian

    Answer: An educated one! HA!

  • I would like him to be my guy on the side, hooottttttttt!

  • All white people look the same. "THERE WHITE" haha!

  • @lucidxd Does it matter what race of person would be passed out on the street? No it doesn't. Are you saying all white people look the same? Isn't that racist? Aboriginals aren't the only people in the world who suffer from this kind of poverty. By the way, it still requires money to acquire cheap booze, hair spray, glue, gas, ect. I'm also a Nickelback fan, so keep your musical bias to yourself. Rock and Roll is part of my culture. Your comment was not only prejudice, but nearsighted as well.

  • @clgcguy I wasn't being racist at all. All I was trying to illustrate was that for the most part if your skin is white and you look Caucasian people don't care where you are from because you are Caucasian.

  • @lucidxd I am a status Indian but I look more Caucasian or even Latin. I speak and dress well and because of this I have heard many disgusting and racist comments about my people. When people think I am of European decent I am treated much differently then when people know that I am an "Indian". I'm sorry my comment offended you. Sometimes I offend people merely by being in the same room.

  • @lucidxd "Sometimes I offend people merely by being in the same room."

Love that! Its precisely what it feels like when you are the only Indian in a room full of nons.

  • @Ajidamoon Then go live on the reserve and tell me how great life is in an area full of Indians only. If you can tolerate it, then come back and hate on White people like the racist you are.

  • @FitnessByMatt I do live on Res. And life is pretty damn sweet.....until I need to go into town to buy something, or get called to the town school because my kids are getting picked on again....the Canadians in town waste no time making it be known that we aren't welcome off the Res......NOT limited to "white" Canadians. You are a joke, kid.

  • @Ajidamoon Great, then stay on the res. If White people are as racist as you claim, being segregated from them would be a good thing so I don't see what the complaints of some are all about.

  • @FitnessByMatt Its funny, but I didn't mention white people specifically in any of my posts, until after you accused me of being a racist. I used the term Canadians. I have experienced discrimination from Canadians of several different ethnic/racial backgrounds.....not just whites. Its amusing that you think any group speaking out against injustices, stereotypes, misconception and myths, is automatically a slight against whites.

  • @Ajidamoon It is always a slight against Whites. Other groups may be implicated too at times, but the intention is to use the term "racist" as a weapon against people of European descent and that in itself is racist.

  • Comment removed

  • @clgcguy It is also kind of hard to contribute when your land, culture and identity have been stripped away from you.

Suppose all the Nickleback fans were pulled from their homes and forced to live in a strange place. All your fav CDs smashed and every time you tried to sing their songs you got punched in the face. You were disallowed to use the bathroom at times and punished for defecating yourself. Not to mention being molested. How would you manage? what could you contribute?

  • @lucidxd Yes agreed, a bit dramatic, but agreed. You should research Scottish history, a nearly identical thing happened when the English empire raped and pillaged the Scots. History has not been kind to many cultures and races. I think its up to the people themselves to maintain culture and identity. Nobody can take that away from you. And sorry but your quote about nobody caring where your from because my skin is white is very offensive. I don't understand what your trying to say.

  • @clgcguy I do know Scottish history as well as the plight of the Irish Catholic. The Irish in Scotland and the Scottish and the Irish in England. The Catholics persecution of the Protestants and then the oppression and exclusion of the Catholics. Those people where fighting with same weapons. The fight was a little more fair if you ask me. I don't think the Scots did so bad. After all Sir John A Macdonald was a Scot and sent many an Indian to their grave.

  • this ON CBC!!! Russell crow and shannon tweed next week! Republic of dole!! free newfieland and this one I just made up and can say being pure breed newfie fisherman like me dad can say "Only difference is we lie around on rocks and collect stamps pokey inenjoyment, 10 weeks on the project 52 on the ass.

  • Why doesn't every race who suffers from racial stereotypes rant on CBC? Wouldn't be as popular I guess. You can defend your people from stereotypes, but dont go and create others. The Irish also suffer from the alcohol/poverty stereotype. And "white people" also pass out in the street, not just curling rinks and nickelback concerts. Many "white kids" have also been raped by clergy members...for hundreds of years! Lets stop the pity party, and focus on acting as one people contributing equally.

  • @clgcguy When a white person passes out on the street you cannot tell if he is Irish, Polish, French etc... It's just a down on his luck person and not a drunken Indian. Seeing someone passed out at a Nickleback concert one would automatically assume two things 1) they have terrible taste in music and 2) they had a good time at a bad concert. You also have to have money in order to pass out at a concert. While passing out on the street only requires cheap booze, hair spray, glue, gas and poverty

  • @clgcguy Some groups have nothing but pity which they need in order to guilt other people into supporting them so it's not surprising to me that this nonsense continues. As for George, he is so out of touch with reality on multiculturalism that I feel sorry for him.

  • @FitnessByMatt I couldn't agree more. Sadly this argument could go on and on, back and forth. It kinda makes me sad, and fearful that things in this country will never change. This video displays the regression this country is still going through. I blame the government just as much as anyone else. Theres a mentality and sense of entitlement thats gotta change. STROMBO is a clown. I used to be a fan, watching "The Hour" religiously. Maybe he's been with the CBC to long...

  • @clgcguy Whats sad is that so few Canadians actually recognize who is the portion of the population in this country who actually suffer from a sense of entitlement.

  • @Ajidamoon Anyone who feels entitled to anything are fools. If you rely on another human being to provide for you, thats irresponsible and weak. Work for what you have, and you'll appreciate what you have. Common sense right?

  • @clgcguy You are a fool! If you pay for a Nickleback ticket ( why anybody would I still don't know?) are you not entitled to go see their show? It's kind of like a contract isn't it? Contract is a synonym for treaty. I work at a job. I am entitled to a paycheck. Common sense right?

If you had children that relied on you and you where unstable and suffering from things that happened to a a child, what kind of children you have and what kind of parent would they be? And so on.....

  • @lucidxd Back to name-calling eh? So much for the possibility of a constructive conversation. No i wouldn't say purchasing a concert ticket is like a contractual agreement. Thats ridiculous. I sincerely hope the outstanding treaty agreements get settled and everyone gets what is fair. In the Canada of today, aboriginals have many advantages and opportunities over non-status citizens.

  • @clgcguy

Since when is being born into poverty an advantage? Being born white now there's an advantage ( yeah I said it). I know this because looking white has worked in my favour much more than being an Aboriginal has. Just because there are many programs to help Aboriginals; don't kid yourself into thinking that it's an advantage. Many of us lack family structure because of what happened in the not so distant past. So yes we need help. It's really no different then being a refugee.

  • @clgcguy Hey, you started the name calling boyo.

  • BROWN PRIDE!!! :)

  • LOL! .. Adam Beach out of nowhere! xP

  • Aho!.

  • omg i love you. THANK YOU!

  • Wow! I am Canadian and my fellow Aboriginal friends deserve all our respect. I will warch the 8th Fire tonight on CBC!

    Good job!

  • there always has to be an argument on these videos...

  • And don't forget that part of that 7 billion goes to the 5,000 INAC staff across Canada.

  • @ruforrealsugarlump And hopefully, after seeing this video people will seek out those facts you are talking about. But first, people need to see past all the bullshit and stereotypes that are in their way. It's easier for a person to say Aboriginal people don't pay taxes cause that's what they heard somewhere, but what if people actually educated themselves on the matter to get a bigger picture? That's what this video is asking people to do, stop perpetuating inaccurate beliefs as fact.

  • @ruforrealsugarlump Of course he is only expressing his opinion; this is a soapbox speech, not a political debate. And if I'm using the comments as a guide, i would say that he made an extremely clear point. One that i think flew right over your head. This video is not about reinforcing opinions based on lack of facts, this video is about clearing up some of the stereotypes that Aboriginal people are faced with everyday, in schools; at work; on the internet; everywhere.

  • Hey New Brunswick, What are you doing with your 8 million dollars?

  • Lol gusgus your dumb.fair is fair except first nations people didnt exactly get a fair deal e.g housing ,education and so forth.i think when u basically steal someones land or at best acquire it dishonestly u have a certain responsibilty for the well being of the peoples u displace

  • @tishilu108 Think again dunbass.you get free how is that fair, sure you ned to be situated geographically to benefit but you get the option. I never stole anything. We could have had "indian wars like the U.S. but we moved politically. Interpretation was the key issue. Maby we should stick to the treaties with indian agents, you cant be a doctor or lawyer or join the army.Need permission to leave the res.to be displaced you would have to be moved.take rewponsibility for yourself. earn respect

  • @GusgusA1 Two days later and here's Gus still crying about what he perceieves are 'handouts'. There are quite a few videos on here, where you can watch women being herded back onto the Res, like cattle, by armed riot squads. Twenty years ago? No....less than five. Its apparent you don't know a thing about the Seven Year War. You are in need of some serious education, rather than munching down on the propaganda it seems you eat for breakfast.

  • @Ajidamoon There you go living in the past again. Ditch the handouts, show your pride and be self sufficient, rally others to do the same(if you are already great). This will get people off your back.Get over it it did not happen to you personally.Other cultures of the world did.You have no choice but to forget it because you can remember what did not happen to you personally.Heresay is heresay.Stop fighting for what you never earned so therefor do not deserve the "handouts".

  • @GusgusA1 Look up "today" in the dictionary. Stop living in the past, it's dead.

  • @GusgusA1 Look up "ignorance" in the dictionary.

    See your picture?

  • @GusgusA1 You have still failed to explain what it is you think these "handouts" are. You keep mentioning them, like many Canadians, but don't seem to be able to define them. And actually, things have happened to me personally, and I have grown up around Uncles and Aunts who were the product of Residential School abuse....thankfully they never got my Mother, or her younger siblings. I am fighting for the things we were promised in the treaties that have permitted you to have your home

  • @GusgusA1 A legal and binding contract with the government, that they don't want to uphold. You make it extremely clear in every post, that you haven't a clue about which you are trying to talk about. Why not take ten minutes out of your life and read through the AANAC website, so you can educate yourself. Then maybe you can check your preconcieved notions at the door and understand what it really going on.

  • @GusgusA1 Just because other countries have surrendered their land to "white" ppl, doesn't mean that should. I say keep milking it! Or you all can just head on back to your original countries :) We are not receiving anything that we are not entitled to. I think it's "white" ppl that are looking for a free ride, by trying to pound into our heads that we are no longer entitled to what was promised to us.

  • @amycakes24 White people just wanted the land. The land didn't "belong" to anyone at the time. It was up for grabs to whoever had the power and might to take it or maintain it - which Natives did not have.

  • Mashkawendaagwan ikidowinan. Miigwetch. Every Canadian needs to hear this.

  • amen!

  • I <3 this video!!!!!

  • Abolish the treaties and put everyone on an even playing field with the assets and education they have now no special help from gov't unless granted on an even basis. Too many programs are based on culture, citizenship, or gender. Fair is fair so let's make it so.

  • @GusgusA1 You need a history lesson. Also, if Quebec qualifies for "founding nation" status with special rights to protect their culture and language, so do First Nations. If you don't think anyone has the right to a special program, then you do not value the great diversity that makes our country so interesting and dynamic.

  • @BNAusername i need no such thing and you need to learn to read. The reason I want to abolish the special programs (aka hand-outs) is because I value the diversity of my country but every individual needs to pull their "own" weight, not ride on the misdealings of our ancesters unless you feel you are the same as them. If you truly are you should live in the same type of dwelling, gather/hunt food the same, dress the same etc. Give your head a shake we are equal act like it.

  • @GusgusA1 Urban Aboriginal institutions like women's shelters that council in traditional languages are far more effective. That's not "unfair," it's just basic human needs to have access to services that operate within your values, language and tradition. Getting rid of special programs means decreasing the effectiveness of our social institutions. So it's not just about correcting past wrongs. Regardless, individuals can "pull their own weight" within the concept of "different but equal."

  • @GusgusA1 Having the right to govern yourself or offer services that are culturally appropriate isn't "pulling your weight," you don't understand how much work goes into the design and execution of these programs. These people are pulling their weight x2 - Canadian society and Aboriginal society. They aren't slacking, they're working harder than you to ensure that Aboriginal people are happy, healthy and EQUAL to other Canadians.

  • @GusgusA1 That is the part you don't get. Other Canadians are ALWAYS telling is exactly how we are NOT equal to them. How we are NOT as Canadian as them. Living traditionally has nothing to do with the type of home you reside in, your clothing, how you get your food. These programs are in place to try and undo the damage that was done when others decided cultural genocide was the way to go as we were not equal to them. .

  • @Ajidamoon I can not go to INAC or a band office and get sponsored for school or get a house. I do not have a band that will guarantee a house loan for me nor will my children but yours will. If that was reversed and my kids had guaranteed money, house and education for free how would you feel towards me? The original programs were to move the 1st nation towards sustainability, how long does that take? The unsaid damage was to the students not there families and i know the families get the $.

  • @GusgusA1 I can't walk into INAC and get house sponsorship either. I can apply to my Band for housing assistance, after I have lived in their housing for five years. I applied for the Status Native Housing Grant from the government last year.....and was denied. My job doesn't meet the requirement. I competed for a scholarship from my band to attend college with four other students.....and only ONE of us got it. You talk as if these things are just handed to us.

  • @GusgusA1 How long does sustainability take you ask? A VERY long time when the government throws up road blocks and court cases at every turn. Or denies your Nation the use of its own funds because they don't think a business loan is a good idea. Do you know how many Res in Canada don't have drinkable water? Over 100. One of those Res' has been on that list for 13 years now. Would that fly in your neighbourhood?

  • @GusgusA1 When Walkerton happened it was in the news for months. Not when its ndns getting sick though. When the H1N1 broke out on FN communities, health Canada sent body bags instead of medication. Body bags. And you want to sit here and try and tell us we are equal to "regular" Canadians? The same "regular" Canadians who continually demand we live off their tax dollars, and these 'hand outs' you keep mentioning.

  • @Ajidamoon No, other Canadians did tell your families that but most now days do not. We are frustrated that the hand up has been taken advantage of and has now become a handout and part of the culture. If you want to be treated like your ancestors live like them I said nothing of tradition to me that is a set of values and beliefs. To each there own in that respect. Most people want an even playing field this is not cultural genocide just equallity

  • @GusgusA1 I meet Canadians all the time who have no problem telling me I am not as Canadian as them. The same Canadians who will proudly talk about how multicultural Canada is, and that we don't suffer the same racial ails as the US.....I do not need to go back to living in a wigwam, dressed in skins. I am no less Indian because i am educated, live in a house with plumbing, and drive a car. You act like Canada has ever honored the treaties they made to begin with.

  • @GusgusA1 I would LOVE to be considered equal to all other Canadian.....but I live in this world as an ndn woman and I know that just isn't the way it is. I've felt it my entire life. Abolishing the Indian Act, and Reservation system won't make us equal. The "regular" Canadians have already made it quite clear that we aren't.

  • @Ajidamoon I believe it would take awa y a great deal on animosity

  • @GusgusA1 And yes, that's today world. Do you know where today's world comes from?? The decisions and progress from the past! You think you know so much about the problems and issues surrounding Native people, you also think you know so much about what they need to do to get better. I'm Aboriginal and I don't even have all the answers! This is a huge complex problem, and the steps to creating a solution have only just started. And don't kid yourself, Native people want solutions as well.

  • @marmalaide5555 prove it

  • @marmalaide5555 do you remember the big issue with the possibility of a manitoba reserve working towards getting rid of the social assistance by educating for a few years then cutting it off. I would like to see more of that. A real soution.

  • @GusgusA1 Like Wab says, it's all part of a much larger stereotype. So lets do a little more listening and a whole lot more getting along..eh!

  • @marmalaide5555 I have listened a long time and i agree it can work both ways but alittle more effort to bridge the gap would be nice. I wish I could name the people I know that have done very well for themselves.

  • @GusgusA1 First off, we don't live in an equal society, never have and never will..period! Second, this has nothing to do with ancestors and paying for your parents deeds etc. You want to know when it ends? I have to ask, do you think Aboriginal people are asking themselves that question right now? When does the systemic dysfunction end? When do the wounds start to heal? When do we rise up from disparity, hate and near genocide? Well the answer is now and this video proves it!

  • @GusgusA1 How long do you think it takes to reverse the effects of residential schools, assimilation, segregation? Do you know the last residential school closed in 1996! You use the word "playing victim" like it's a choice people make. Do you have severe sexual, physical and substance abuse problems in your immediate family? Do you know what it's like to never have your mother or father love or hold you? Do you think those issues can just be fixed??

  • @GusgusA1 The Indian Act was created by the Gov't to control the Natives, so before you go spouting off on how Aboriginals get this and that you should realize why. And no it's not our ancestors who suffered, it's as close as one generation ago. These people are still alive and still suffering from the abuse they received by the church. And if you realized what they had to deal with then you would realize why there are so many social issues that they are still dealing with.
