no. someone has taken the studio recording and placed it over the original footage's audio. There is no way 1970's video footage could produce this quality of sound..

The song was released in 1982, so it is possible, but I won't get into discussion because I don't know much about the studio equipment now and neither in the 80's:)

aha! sorry about the mix-up with the dates, but you can also notice how the orchestra's movements don't match up with the music, neither can you hear the backing vocalists.. and notice how the applause from the crowd does not start in the audio stream until right at the very end, but you can clearly see them clapping from 4:17.

Everything about this song was perfect. I can remember the first time I heard in in 1982. The intro made me think of "Woman In Love" by Barbra Streisand. This is my favorite Dionne Warwick song of all time. She brought so much depth to it.

incredible song, only one thing tho .. in the titles it says "voz en directo" which means "live voice" in spanish, when she so obviously lip synchs, the voice is exactly the same as in the recording, not one note out of place and in tune with the bee gees backing vocals. nostalgia was a spanish programe from the 80s that was viewed by 80% of the population (in those days there was only one channel lol), though at the time i imagine no one even noticed it was playback, or even knew what it meant

There are a lot of flaws when transfering media from analog to Digital wich I assume

are the bit and bobs you are refering to here I even hear minor changes in tempo (btm) something most commonly when transfering old rail to rail or ADAT tapes in to digital formats...

I think the phrase is quite self-explanatory, so I don't really understand ur technical explanation, thanx anyway. As the mike was left open u can tell the difference between the (mono) quality of the reproduced sound and the stereo quality of the playback, the few words she mumbles are barely audible over the booming playback track. Does anyone not understand any of this ffs?

It's not quite playback, if you listen carefully, there is an echo throughout the song and occasionally she will trow in some add lib, like in the beginning of the song, you can hear her add lib, so it is not quite playback, plus her famous whoaaoaa, has a very pronounced echo. So i have to disagree with you, it's not totally playback.

Very observant! But it is still playback, they just left the mike open for her to add bits and bobs, but indeed, at 3.40 she forgets the words hehe. If she's singing live how do u explain the fadeout. Just go listen to the various versions of this song live and u'll see how she completely changes the way of singing it every time. Please people, its so easy to tell, the vocals are exactly the same as the original recording.

The "echo" as you call it, is reverb, used also on the original. Its easy to determine that it is playback, just look for another version of the song where she DOES sing it live and you can see the difference, Dionne, NEVER sings the song exactly the same as on the record, she always changes the vocal some way or another. And the fade out at the end? She was singing quieter and quieter until the fade? Hehe. If you listen carefully, you'll see it is playback. And its not an opinion, its a fact.
