A Porsche is a more frivolous luxury item, while pretty much anyone can enjoy entertainment and media consumption. A lot of people may like to own a Porsche, but pretty much anyone views TV or film or listens to music, etc.
A Porsche also isn't composed of digital ones and zeros, and thus being infinitely reproducible.
Also, piracy =/= theft, I'd never buy at least two thirds of the things I download, if that wasn't an option.
I guess they decided to drop the whole "You wouldn't steal a handbag" thing, but I don't think this really acts as much of a deterrent, other than people worrying they might be slightly embarrassed in their workplace. Downloading games isnt okay, its not like renting a game for ever and free, you can also rent a DVD, when you buy a game your actually paying to use it not to own it, which means if you own the game its within the law to download another copy:). Does this add actually put anyone off?

The IT Crowd on channel 4 did a spoof of the "You wouldn't steal a car" advert, search for it on you tube. I don't particularly like the IT Crowd, but this spoof is fairly good.
These adverts are designed by the anti-piracy groups to get the general public to do their job for them, by trying to persuade them to harrass pirates. For them to accuse people who download pirates movies of being the same people that steal from whip arounds, office friges & let doors close on old ladies is a really low blow, as there is F all evidense to support this.
A good way to fight back would be to create a spoofed version of this advert.

The guy playing the flute is being somewhat of an elitist prick because he has a Popcorn Hour A-110 that he uses to play 720p & 1080p Blu-ray rips on. I can personally recommend it although they aren't cheap at £200 but there's always the 'WD TV' for £80 if your the kinda guy that does things on the cheap.
I also noticed that they snatch things away from nige and one chap ruggles his hair. How about in the spoof we take if one step futher again. The advert could start with good old nige walking into the office in the morning minding his own business, where one of the office ladies walks up to him and kicks him in the balls, whilst nige is down on the floor choking, all the other office folks gather round and sing the knock of nige song accusing him of everything under the sun.
I've noticed how they are trying to turn people against anyone that downloads movies by saying they do other things like stealing from a shared office frige or from whip arounds or scrounging pints down the pub. I doubt pirates are any more prone to this behaviour than other folk. But, it provides good spoofing material, We could spoof these adverts by making versions where the knock-off-nigel is accused of being all manner of things e.g. terrorist, pervert, happy slapper, etc.

Downloading games isnt okay, its not like renting a game for ever and free, you can also rent a DVD, when you buy a game your actually paying to use it not to own it, which means if you own the game its within the law to download another copy:). Does this add actually put anyone off?

You see this campaign is so pathetic, they want you to believe that everyone who downloads films "skips their round at the pub, buys fake jewelry for their partner" actually, we're not all chavs thank you very much and most will probably take offense to these accusations. thepiratebay (dot) com is probably the best download site you need a tracker like bit torrant (which is free) but it has sereously EVERYTHING, games, films, comics, programs, the list goes on, other film places like quicksilverscreen (dot) come.

As I see it, nigel is harrassed by the rest of the office, so let's up the level of the harrassment to physical violence. Also they like to throw ridiculous accusations at Nigel e.g that he must also be the type to steal from the office fridge. So up the anti again, have them call him a terrorist, car thief, etc in the spoof.

These adverts are designed by the anti-piracy groups to get the general public to do their job for them, by trying to persuade them to harrass pirates. For them to accuse people who download pirates movies of being the same people that steal from whip arounds, office friges & let doors close on old ladies is a really low blow, as there is F all evidense to support this.
A good way to fight back would be to create a spoofed version of this advert.

i like this advert coz it's mildly amusing and the tune is catchy, but its completely pointless because its not going to stop me being a knock off nigel and i'll doubt it will stop anyone else.

I think the rest of Nigel's office are simply mocking him for wasting bandwith on downloading shitty quality CAM and Telesync releases which is what they mean when they say 'knock-off'.
The guy playing the flute is being somewhat of an elitist prick because he has a Popcorn Hour A-110 that he uses to play 720p & 1080p Blu-ray rips on. I can personally recommend it although they aren't cheap at £200 but there's always the 'WD TV' for £80 if your the kinda guy that does things on the cheap.

I also noticed that they snatch things away from nige and one chap ruggles his hair. How about in the spoof we take if one step futher again. The advert could start with good old nige walking into the office in the morning minding his own business, where one of the office ladies walks up to him and kicks him in the balls, whilst nige is down on the floor choking, all the other office folks gather round and sing the knock of nige song accusing him of everything under the sun.

I've noticed how they are trying to turn people against anyone that downloads movies by saying they do other things like stealing from a shared office frige or from whip arounds or scrounging pints down the pub. I doubt pirates are any more prone to this behaviour than other folk. But, it provides good spoofing material, We could spoof these adverts by making versions where the knock-off-nigel is accused of being all manner of things e.g. terrorist, pervert, happy slapper, etc.
