1 Timothy 6:10 - For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. ~ The word for from also means out of, off, of separation, of departing, of any kind of separation of one thing from another by which the union of fellowship of the two is destroyed. That's destroying salvation. Money is not a problem if you are not selfish and helping people, but if we are greedy it is.
hmm. I remember hearing that Baal had a lot to do with fertility- Jehova was the warrior God from the desert, but now that they had settled they needed to pray to the gods of rain and weather. This is similar to money as well- people worship it because they think only money will keep their house from drying up.
@kannabhais Abundant life is a life like Jesus lived while He was on the earth. It's a life of joy and peace in the midst of all the trials in this world.
This means to receive the gift of grace given through our saviour, a life with perfect peace, joy and a satisfied heart in Jesus Christ, which money cannot give or any other thing in this world can give only HIM. : )

Zac looks like an intelligent and tolerant person. How can be possible to find in his volume "The New Covenant Servant" a sentenced like: "GOD NEEDS MEN who can never be influenced by their wife, children, relatives, friends or other believers to cool off even slightly in their devotion to Christ or their obedience to Gods commandments"?
Don't you agree that this kind of obedience will invariably lead to acts like 9/11?
Who gives him the right to use his intelligence to intoxicate minds? GOD?
What that sentence means is.. "God needs men.... who will not let their wives or children or anyone else.. stop or hinder them from - being poor in the spirit - being humble - being full of hunger and thirsty for righteousness - being merciful - being pure at heart - accepting persecution for doing right - working for peace
(Mathew ch. 5) and to sum it all... - loving others.!
What you say 'brokenice' is fine - but I tell you Zac may have forgotten the exact verses, but I haven't seen more transparent and candid guy who is humble, who doesn't think he is very big, and doesn't fleece people... he is not your average televangelist who say a lot of good things but there is a money tag attached to it. I don't have any problem about giving well to the work of the Lord but then again, the preachers should also practice restraint on spending money ¬ let believers suffer.
Regarding your first comment: 1 Kings 18:21 "Then Elijah stood in front of them [the Israelites] and said 'How much longer will you waver, hobbling between TWO opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!...."
Regarding your second point; verse 24: "'Then call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answerers by setting fire to the wood is the true god' And all the people agreed."

This is the first sermon I've heard by Zac. I thought it was excellent and that he made alot of great points. I just have 2 critiques/corrections.
1. In 1 Kings 18, I cannot find any indication that the Israelites are trying to follow both God and Baal; they were just following Baal.
2. Elijah did not say "Choose you this day whom you will serve", Joshua did (Joshua 24:15)
Overall this is a great series though, don't be discouraged by my comments. It needs to be correct when repeated.

We have to understand that, the greatest commandment from God is to Love one another.
There is not a spec of hatered in God's love and Jesus proved that on the cross.
It challenges my heart everytime,... to be such a devout man for God.
