    /watch?v=XizSpaPobNo

  • just started using Reason 3. Is recycle the only way to import samples into reason.

  • @sirflex10 so do u need a turntable 2 get the samples or can u just find the mp3 on the internet

  • worst wallpaper ever !

  • sampling is kinda hard

  • damn that carl thomas joint has some sick samples in it

  • I'm still working with Reason 3.0. I want to do some sampling so I need to go out and get Recycle (as well as 4.0). But I'm still learning stuff with Reason 3.0 that I love to work with. Such a cool, fun, and fairly easy to use, but professional program. I've made some great stuff in a matter of minutes. Can't wait to see what Propellerhead does with Reason in the future. Thanks for the tutorial. -Van

  • You got some pipes you might be the next Marvin man!

  • hey what are some good artist songs that i can use to sample or a website to find good songs

  • wen i sample a song n recycle, i can't take tha drums out of a song enough, can anyone tell me how to do this is reason recycle or if theres a program for tha mac that'll let me do this

  • you have to have an extra programm for that, which is really expensive i know that sucks.

  • and how do you do that with the pitch

  • if you hold alt when you click on the sample you dont need MIDI

  • what do i do about the bars in recycle

  • good but how did u get the sampel man where and when

  • Where can i get RECYCLE??

  • illegally my friend.

  • pls, anyone have any idea what am doing wrong,i exported some loops from recycle to reason rex file but it is sounding funny.i tried to use tempo and other techniques but still wont work.matter of fact am using reason 2.1.

  • man, i didn't know you could load rex files into nnxt. i'm gonna mess with that now :).

  • dude how im i suppoe to load rex files into nn-xt

    holla back

  • you dont load them into nn-xt, load it in Dr. Rex loop player. dont worry its still assignable to keys or pads its all the same

  • he explains it at 2:40. but it looks like you save your sample as a .rex file using recycle...then you open up the nn-xt...then you press the folder button so that you can browze for your sample...and just select the sample and press ok.

  • You just load them like any other file. The great tang you can do is cut them up in the nn-xt.Turn your keyboard or Mpd into an Mpd.Its a video on here.

  • thnx man this really helped :)

  • advise please, great video, helped alot ta very much. but i'm attemping to sample a part of a lyric but you can here the drums in the background. any suggestions where i should filter it? recycle or reason? not sure how! thanks man

  • find some audio converter software i have one for free its 4music multiformat converter

  • They have to be in .WAV format. you need a simple audio converter

  • you can convert mp3s to wavs using itunes...

  • is it possible to listen to the previews of the samples with out having keys

  • hold alt

  • yea i used fl until i got a midi....its so much better my guy

  • I liked using FL for about 2 years, and then I ran out of VSTs to run through lol. Now I use a Yamaha Motif XS8 and Cubase, but I think you could probably sample off of the keyboard into reason correct?

But keep using Reason man, its a nice ass program.

  • are you using recycle??

  • did you ever figure this out cause i have the same problem

  • Thanks a ton man

  • you talk like you just had diner or something

  • ok so if u wanted the voice out of it to actually create the beat do u have to find a section of the song that has no voice and just the beat and chop it?

  • best one yet. great video

  • Thanks bro

  • Much appreciated.

  • pretty fresh tutorial my man,I definately enjoyed it!!

    Thanks...

  • use time streching

  • Thx for the tutorial. I usually shy away frm Reason to chop samples but I think I'll give it a whirl again.

  • yo mad love 4 uploadin these HELPFUL tutorials B. keep em coming! but...

everytime i try to transfer my rex file into reason(nn-xt sampler) it says "rex error the rex file has too many slices a maximum of 92 slices is allowed" i dont know whats wrong...i had did it b4

  • Nice tutorial and your singing makes me laugh lmao.

  • This is the mpc 4000 mpc 2000 mpc 1000 I love reason and recycle only paid like $200 niggas be spending thousands of dollars for the mpc's LMAOF HAAA HAA HAA when bascially all you need is a midi keyboard and software HAAAAA HAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAA you can do anything with a midi keyboard and music software like reason and recycle and protools and sony acid pro

  • amen to that sh!t... lmao!!!

  • you can write shit dear sir

  • lol!! Not always... Sometimrs my comments don't post when I do. That's why I either use an exclemation as an "I" , or underscore just before the word! ex; "the word_shit!!" (only reads as one word)

  • although i don't have an mpc, i hear those things are way easier to use when choppin up samples and have better sounding drum kits.

  • @hailwillis no actually u would know recycle is nothing like an mpc....sure u can chop samples but its still not an mpc....so before dissing them and the ppl who buy them actually understand what an mpc actually does.....and u say u only need software and a midi keyboard? what about a soundcard and maybie a mixer?

  • @danny4572 btw when i say what about a sound card i mean u need to get rid of it for an audio interface u cant produce on a pcs built in sound card

  • @hailwillis

It's pretty obvious you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about. Drum pads have (for the most part) velocity sensitivity. Why is this important? Your beat won't be bangin' at all if you can't create some dynamic aspect to your drums. That's where most of these new school toys (such as yourself) fail.

I don't even know why I'm acknowledging you. You're awful at everything.

  • @hailwillis u need 5-_6 sources to sample using software like reason

    for reason

a computer+a audio interface+something that supports audio mp3s or direct recording then a wav editor(recycle) then a sequencer(reason) a midi controller..thats multitasking and the d/a to a/d converters are still not the same as the mpc models..besides that you prolly never touched a mpc in your life so you cant compare the two work flows and sounds so dont make stupid comments

  • @hailwillis and yo, people torrent the software for free too. Expensive shit is not necessary, especially with software like this

  • if you put a sample on an album does that original artist have to get a cut or you just need to refer to him?

  • that's not Carl Thomas - Emotional.

its Carl Thomas - Cold, Cold World.

    but very good vid.

    peace

  • yeah i was abotu to say yeah thats not emotional lol thanks for posting that

  • this was supposed to be undersomeone elses comment btw its cold cold world

  • I use the db poweramp too ^^

  • HOW DO U CHOP IT

    TELL ME MORE!!

  • i use audacity

  • stinkles,i have audacity, can you shed any light on how you import audio from cds?

    thanks

  • i import my cds on itunes and drag them on to audacity to chop it up

  • You have to get a program that does it.

ReCycle is very common, Kontakt 3, Sampletank, etc...

Then you go in to the waveform and either your program will have a "slicer" in which you can adjust the sensitivity or if your beat is more complex or you want something specific, you make the slices yourself.

You then export those files to the kind you need (wav, mp3, etc..) and load them to your program that plays samples.... A lot of programs also have utilities that convert REX files...

  • good tutorial .. how do you know what tempo to set it at when you export it to put it in reason?

  • i need recycle for download, im from a island that dont have a store with that things so,i need it to download help help full version i need

  • the pirate bay torrent tracker has a good copy of it with alot of seeds

  • hey homie good tutorial I feel u on how 2 find a sampled hook part ya dig but I was hopin u would show ya skills w/ a lil sumn 4 the verse section maybe u could post another part using one of the hooks u came up w/ and drop the verse with it so we can see ho u put it all 2gether

  • I use a program called "db poweramp" to convert my .mp3's to .wav

  • Do u know how to convert Mp3 file formats to WAV. because I just bought recycle 2.1 and everytime I save a CD to my itunes and and change the format to WAV, Recycle does not recognize it.

  • i use a program called switch hat aught ta help ya alot homie

  • thankx for the info!

  • error : to many slices ?

    92? hhuuuuu?????

    what?

  • ill.. def. one of the more informative videos i've seen for this. i'm gonna have to watch this again when i'm sober :-)

  • you'd be a great presenter, wonderful singing haha

  • That desktop wallpaper is grim!

  • i got the point ;)

thx for help man, and nice singing btw ^^

  • Good Stuff Brother, I Produce and never did I imagine that sampling could be so fresh as you've demonstrated...

  • thats not the version of 'emotional' by carl thomas that comes up when i look for it, can anyone help??

  • same here i really want the version

  • i dont know much about reason but when your done do you have to convert the Rex file back to wav?

  • dope tutorial. it was enough to get me going.

  • Where did u get the program to convert the mp 3 to wave. Was it free?

  • its Dbpoweramp ...and with the free version you can convert mp3 to wave

  • i use acid pro 5.0 to convert files and such. free in limewire. plus it is a good editing program to finalize songs made in reason. plus if you record vocals or samples, acid 5.0 is good shit

  • yeah theres a very simple way i use... itunes... What i do is i go to itunes and then select preferences and then i go to advanced after that i click on importing where it says import using i select wav encoder then you just highlight the song you want to encode go to advanced at the top and click convert to wave works like a charm and its 100% free

  • if you can get your hands on Wavelab 4 or 5 it will do the trick

  • if you use Windows XP you can use an app called "ease audio converter", it supports drag and drop and it works well.

  • 5 stars superbness

  • i have reason 4 and when i chop the song auto nnxt is telling me 92 slices only i donno what

  • Before you chop your sample up in recycle cut out every portion of the sample that you won't be using in sound forge or audacity(free) if you don't have sound forge.

  • hey i figured that out man i was me being unpatient for the nnxt to load the rex file !!!

if you wait you do upload the whole thing :)

  • Thank you very much sirflex10! I've been trying to do this but you got the steps down and made it easy. I noticed your SC on your start too haha. that kicks ass

  • thank you dude !

it helpd me alot ! :)

  • I load the sample, but as im playing it..doesn't play chopped. It's playing the entire loop in different pitches

  • thsnks man, very interesting

  • What program do you use to convert the mp3s' to wave?

  • dbpoweramp

  • Did you download the program to convert mp3s to wave or did you buy a program?

  • audacity << is the best free ware, trust me.

  • thats right, audacity rocks for free!

  • adobe audition

open mp3 save wav chop or edit there if it is needed
