come on guys. this does not work:-( i feel bad for people that get tricked into this. You just cut your perfectly good ipod cord. If you dont believe me all you have to do to test this is just short all the wires on the cut end and plug it in to your ipod. i bet it will show its charging.

The solar pannel generates enough voltage that it meets that certain amount. Also, I guess this method of charging could damage the ipod after repeated uses but I RARELY use this method.

actually if you are really getting a current running its because of the acid (the lemon juice and the vinnegar in the ketcup) and the two types of metal - aluminum (tinfoil) and copper (the wires) the aluminum (or copper im not sure) is oxidized because of the lemon juice exchanging some of its electrons in order to reach a lower energy state and the small energy released provides the power enough to trick the processor of the ipod that its charging normally

its a lot easyer, go to electronic store and lookfor small solar panels, they should have 2 wires sticking out of them, connect those 2 wires to an outlet, then connect ur wall charger to the outlet and have fun =]

A USB cable, even the one for the iPod has 4 usable wires, 2 wires for charging via USB, 2 for data communication, you attach all 4 of them, on the foil, it will create a short, so not only will you ruin your iPod's USB connector, but you will fry the iPod due to the 2 way short
