Supra is way overrated because teenagers went to go see the Fast and Furious movies over the last decade. AWD made the difference here; the Supra lacking it of course.
3000GT VR4/Dodge Stealth was the superior car to Supra in the 90s. With the same money added to a stock car it could be much faster because of AWD.
and no...overnight parts from Japan will not make the Supra "decimate all" like in the movie.

Syclones are sweet but that supra probably was stock and I know supras weigh about 3700 lbs and the syclone has awd and is light as hell. shave a few hundred pounds off the supra and put some drag radials on it to make up a little for awd then lets see.
the syclone is AWD, so that makes it lighter? as far as i'm concerned adding a front diff and a transfer case usually ADDS weight. Not to mention the Syclone also has a frame.
stock Syclone's curb weight is around 3500lbs. so i'd say they are pretty even. not to mention that the Syclone is a brick shape, and the supra is an aerodynamic wedge shape. last time i checked, its ALOT harder to make a brick shape go faster than a wedge shape.
Do they still race in Philly? I drove from North Jersey about 8-9 years ago, just to check out the scene. The cops were ALL over and we couldn't get much done. I figured they put an end to it by now. There used to be an awesome website about Philly streetracing and it listed all of the streets they used!

ALL older model trucks like that are boxy. I happen to like that look more than a lot of the newer models. is small because its a Sonoma which is GMC's versoin of an S10. the reason i like the box look is because i like the old school designs, like the chevy scottsdale 4x4 i used to have. it was big, v8 powered, straight pipes with glass packs, boxey, lifted up and had super swampers. that thing was bad ass.

Even with the little head start by the Supra, the truck still just ate that jellybean right up and even had enough time to wash its hands and return to the table. Vicious little machine. Vicious. I always thought that spoiler looked like it gave the car a large handle, so if one wanted to, one could seemingly push the car from behind like a lawn mower. Just silly.

I'd rather buy an American made "Japanese" car and support the blue-collar worker, instead of buying an "American" car (the parts of which are made in China and Mexico), and support the socialist unions that are driving this country into the ground. I don't need to be a GM supplier to know that this is a bad idea. Just look at the now-defunct British Leyland as an example. This happened recently, so expect a delay before they start dictating your product requirements.

Syclones are sweet but that supra probably was stock and I know supras weigh about 3700 lbs and the syclone has awd and is light as hell. shave a few hundred pounds off the supra and put some drag radials on it to make up a little for awd then lets see.

the syclone is AWD, so that makes it lighter? as far as i'm concerned adding a front diff and a transfer case usually ADDS weight. Not to mention the Syclone also has a frame.

stock Syclone's curb weight is around 3500lbs. so i'd say they are pretty even. not to mention that the Syclone is a brick shape, and the supra is an aerodynamic wedge shape. last time i checked, its ALOT harder to make a brick shape go faster than a wedge shape.

Do they still race in Philly? I drove from North Jersey about 8-9 years ago, just to check out the scene. The cops were ALL over and we couldn't get much done. I figured they put an end to it by now. Just have to make a comment on this I own a toyota supra and ive also had a 1984 firebird a 1979 camaro and a GMC Sonoma
the supra was blatantly stock. i know how fast the Syclone is and how it can be modded
i usually consider myself highly impartial in these things i love muscle cars i love trucks i like rice rockets(only if done right alot of people dont know what their doing), i hate suv's.
a stock supra na OR tt would stand NO chance.

The cars weren' even made to compete vs each other they were just two high dollar high performance cars that were highly advertised that were released during the same period. I would never drive a vette in my opinion because every american that has a 401k has one. I see a vette every day. I see vettes driving in the snow. They are boring to look at. Just an average car to me. yes I realize the Zr1 is a bit more than just a regular corvette. but eh.

ALL older model trucks like that are boxy. I happen to like that look more than a lot of the newer models. is small because its a Sonoma which is GMC's versoin of an S10. the reason i like the box look is because i like the old school designs, like the chevy scottsdale 4x4 i used to have. it was big, v8 powered, straight pipes with glass packs, boxey, lifted up and had super swampers. that thing was bad ass.

hahaha i like how gm can dig through their parts bin in the early 90's take a regular 4x4 s-10 throw a astrovan t-case in it add a turbo and water intercooler to a truck engine and stomp on anything made at the time. you can make this truck at the wrecking yard with a v8 and spend less than 8000. i bet that supra has at least that much in cheesy graphix and over the top wings and hopeless hop-ups

Even with the little head start by the Supra, the truck still just ate that jellybean right up and even had enough time to wash its hands and return to the table. Vicious little machine. Vicious. And tasteful-looking, to boot. Unlike the Supra, with the St. Louis Arch attached to its rump. I always thought that spoiler looked like it gave the car a large handle, so if one wanted to, one could seemingly push the car from behind like a lawn mower. Just silly.

Yes but the workers make more. I'd rather buy an American made "Japanese" car and support the blue-collar worker, instead of buying an "American" car (the parts of which are made in China and Mexico), and support the socialist unions that are driving this country into the ground. THAT is why American cars suck: companies have to spend so much paying the fatcat unions that they have to cut-corners production-wise, not because the US workforce is bad. Besides, GM is pretty much gov't owned now.

As a supplier to GM, the last I checked I wasn't getting my requirements from the government or the UAW. I figure if that owned GM they would be dictating the product and product requirements.
I know the quality that we put into our components. So you're essentially calling our components pos and ultimately my work shit. That's not the case, do you have first hand knowledge of the engineering and quality processes followed in my company's or GM's standards?

GM is already divided 20% by the UAW and another 50% by the US Government, possibly 70% in the near future. The fact that 5 of the GM board members and the previous CEO, Rick Wagoner was ousted by the Obamessiah essentially indicates complete ownership. I don't need to be a GM supplier to know that this is a bad idea. Just look at the now-defunct British Leyland as an example. This happened recently, so expect a delay before they start dictating your product requirements.

The problem isn't that GM and Ford can't make good cars, it's that they are crippled by the unions and government regulation. Every business needs income; when you are getting stretched between taxes and greedy auto unions, something's gotta give. Since they can't compete in a price war with the Japanese manufacturers, that "something" is usually quality.
I'm all for Detroit Muscle, but that legendary quality and performance is quickly fading into history thanks to the administration.

I keep telling myself that things are going to be ok, but your right, the current administration scares a lot of people. But just remember George Bush II had more to do with Obama getting elected than Obama did. Bush left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouth.Maybe Obama continues to drive the country into the ground, but he had a running start when he was elected.

You got it. Onstar can already be used to eaves drop although it is technically illegal except under the Patriot Act. Your car can be shut down or off with their satellite unless you know how to disengage it, as well as tracked and recorded. "The companies are greedy" is an excuse used by those without a basic understanding of US microeconomics, or capitalism. Fact of the matter is that these unions (who often have mafia ties) are sucking the companies dry, demanding more than their fair share of pay for substandard work. If you're making $8 dollars an hour, chances are your labor is worth somewhere around $8 dollars an hour. The solution to this is get educated and earn more, not pound your fists and demand more.

Fact of the matter is that GM is heavily subsidized by the government and is basically in the palm of Obama's hand. Hope you don't have Onstar because they might just deactivate your car for voting the wrong way.

It amazes me that there are STILL people that will vehemently cling to their stupidity. You actually get MORE bang for your buck with the Tundra. Not to mention that Toyota follows SAE J2807 for testing, whereas Ford and Dodge don't, which means they're probably exaggerating their specs. In 2013 J2807 will become mandatory, so expect tow capacities to fall for both.
