If it were an older 05 or 06 636 it would have been out front, the 07 were one of the slowest years, I ride with a couple older R1's that have considerably more done to them and stoplight to stoplight I eat them, get out on the open road and the r1 is a monster up top

But a 636 is just raw hate! just bought one a month ago and I thought I knew how to ride with a few years of riding... hit 8k rpm and the front wheel comes off the ground with out even trying. insane bike. if that was a 1k...the front tire would be off the ground shifting 2nd and 3rd. that year zx is one of the least powerful also. my 05 zx6 blows that year away like that r1 did.
The closeness of this race is an indication of the riders talent...or lack thereof. That R1 should have been briskly walking away from the 600 after about 60mph or so...

Tell your boy to learn how to ride. My 10R redlines thousands of RPM's under a 600, but I make MUCH more power and with stock gearing I hit 104mph indicated in first gear. The gixxer is a little shorter geared IIRC...so if you are pullin' him because he is, "shifting so often" he is shortshifting.

Before 2007 there where two models, 636 an the normal 600 that was used for competition purposes. From 2007 and on there's just one model, the Zx6r which is a 600 cc bike.
@speedemon103 From 2003 to 2006 Kawasaki made the zx6r (636) and zx6rr (600). The RR stands for Race Ready and it sounds like it would make more sense to be RR on the 636, but because the 636 was no longer allowed to race with the 600cc class it only received an R because of it's inability to race with the others in its class. Still, they're all nice bikes.

Oh as soon as the track opens i'll post up a video with the new team green cams installed. last year I was running 10.9 at 128mph with a 1.62 0-60ft. Hoping for mid 10's now we are at high elevation here. My first trip to the track when I did this video was a sad 12.4 at 121 with a 2.2 0-60ft. Guess I needed some practice lol.
Hey thanks for the comments guys. I haven't checked this video in a while. For those wondering at the time I had a horrible launch never raced anyone from a stop that was decent so didn't know how bad I needed to work on it. I went to the track and found out my 0-60 was 2-2.2 at that time and got it down to 1.6 now after track practice. Kawasaki rates the 07 ZX6R at 131 BHP stock and the 03 R1 was rated at 139.9 BHP. Also an R1 weighs in around 384lbs and mine was at 346 at the time.
I have a 636 and I love it more than any bike I've ever had, but there is no way in hell it'll beat an R1 unless the rider sucks ass. I've put a lot of work into it and it's fast, but there's no replacement for displacement. Mine is running at about 125 horspower and that's after thousands of dollars of work. A stock R1 still has about 25 HP more.
keep in mind the new ninjas come with a lot more horsepower, nonetheless, i own an 03 r1 and i can tell you, the bike should be pulling much faster and harder from the stop...

That r1 Rider must have sucked because he barely pulled that ninja and he's got at least 50 more horsepower, but probably more like 60 or 65 more horsepower
Actually the Yamaha stll had 20 more hp than the ninja. Keep in mind this an 1000cc vs. a 599cc. Since it has been geared different and Team Green racing cams there wouldn't be a contest.

The 1000 goes up to 12k . More torgue from the revv-bottom!
Ride a 1k and open the throttle instantly when riding with 4k .. and do tha same with a 600.
Propably the 1k will flip over!
It is known that Zx6r (05-06) were the best in their category!Until YZF-R6 2008-09 came up!
