When one of my Friends was an Altar boy in the 1950s (I think at this Church) he was serving an ecunemical vespers thing, he carried the banner of the Anglican Archbishop of that area and the Anglican altar boy carried the banner of the Catholic Archbishop. So when he got to the altar he rested the pole on his shoulder not realizing that he dipped the banner into one of the High Altar candels. LOL!
It takes a LOT of money today to build a Cathedral. When you consider the state is NOT chipping in and that money for the project comes only from the laity, this is quite an accomplishment. Remember that Westminster Abbey was built by Catholics over centuries. This church is barely 100 years old.
One of the key features of Mithraism was a sacrificial meal, which involved eating the flesh and drinking the blood of a bull. Mithras, the god of Mithraism, was "present" in the flesh and blood of the bull, and when consumed, granted salvation to those who partook of the sacrificial meal (theophagy, the eating of one's god).
I didn't say it's ugly or anything but just that that the abbey seems more beautiful to my eyes..
