It was actually just the opposite for me: I watched the show first.

So, I didn't have to make up what the characters looked like when reading the books. I imagined Jimmy black, Shiela looked like a "demonic gypsy" (as one of you guys put it XD), and Peter needed a haircut.

But I DID see a different interpretation of them after watching the show, in form the illustrations in "Fourth Grade Nothing". Only Peter looked sort of the same.

Thanks for posting this. I watched every episode of season 1 but i guess didn't know that season 2 was on CBS. It always got to me back when i was little.
