  • if u just use the orange part of orange, it wont be bitter. it is the white part of orange that is going to give u the bitterness.

  • @prettymel66

If you use navel oranges using the whole cake does not make it bitter at all, using only the orange part it will not have much flavour as most of the flavour is in the skin

  • LOL!!!! Cut it in half and calories fall out (slaps knee) LMBO!!! Lol, I did not see that coming.

I love the vid though and the cake sees very simple! But I have a mini processor so will it come out as smooth if I mix everything else into the oranges with a hand meld mixer? Thanks a bunch!

  • these are fantastic..

  • Hi...very nice video, just curious to know that wether the orange peel make it a little bitter?

  • @nazia2005 no doesn't make bitter I use navel oranges these are the best

  • I have made it, its the moistest cake ever! Due to the usage of real oranges! Thanks for the recipe!

  • the best part was the step nine EAT!!!!! :)))

thank you for the recipe, sounds really easy to bake :)

  • can I use melted shortening to replace the butter??

  • @maha002 you could it just won't taste as nice you can also use vegetable oil but probably not olive due to the taste

  • I like the quality of your video, it make the instruction easier to comprehend and follow.

  • @CupcakeIdeasForYou thanks I was trying to make it consise so it's easy to follow

  • I had an adventure with this recipe today. As I was pureeing the orange in a blender, it came to me that more liquid was needed. Added a quarter cup rum. After adding the sugar and eggs, realized that the extra liquid wasn't needed. Used unbleached flour, added 1 TBS baking soda (mine says best if used before Mar 2010) and three-fourths tsp salt. Sprayed the muffin pan liberally with canola oil. As I turned the blender top to release it, the entire bottom fell out. Batter dumped on muffin pan.

  • @bruiseraa Used a spatula to push batter into muffin cups. Stuck the pan in the oven. Checked video again to verify 20 min cooking time. Realized I'd forgotten the butter. Batter had been in oven 5 min. Removed pan from oven. Added a quarter to a half pat of butter to each muffin cup. Stirred with a fork. Had to cook 10 extra minutes. Was surprised that muffins could be extracted from the pan. They're tasty. Will use a food processor next time, although the blender problem was my mistake.

  • @bruiseraa Correction. Baking powder, not baking soda.

  • Could this work with lemons?

  • Very nice!!!

  • yes this recepie is questionable, i tried it, it does not bake from the center, cake stayed damp. however, cake will eventually solidify a bit if u leave it over night.

  • it says 2 eggs but in the photo its like 6 eggs?!?....

  • @amanda2222222222

Hi the recipe is for 1 batch and I was making 3 batches at a time, to make 1 large cake, sorry for the confusion

  • @CiccioItalianCafe thanks.

  • amazing ,, loved it ,everything even the music was kind of interesting ,,i like it

  • I made this exactly how you said and it tasted ok but it was chewy on top..i wont make it again with this recipe...but great video!

  • excelente receta, rapida, fácil y espero que deliciosa, la acabo de meter al horno

  • Sweet recipe....thanks!

  • Hi thanks for the quick response....I will try with navel oranges in the next try...is it possible to advise how many grams should the orange weigh...as I want to be as precise as possible with the weights.

  • @kzrd2r can't remember exact weights but a normal sized navel should do the trick

  • Hi i was so excited to try this easy recipe with my daughter ...but it turned out bitter after taking a few bites which you feel towards the end of your tounge...as for the cooking process it took longer and the center part of the cake was still damp despite for keeping it longer in the oven to bake...unfortunately it did not turn out well for me as per the video...I feel the white part under the orange peel needs to be discarded..

  • @kzrd2r try using only navel oranges (that what I use) as this will avoid having to remove the white part however if you're sensitive to the pith taste probably best to remove it

  • I love how you give both Fahrenheit and Celsius. Most recipes don't, some are strictly Celsius, which I'm not good at converting so yea, i made your five minute cake its delicious!

  • oh wow it looks yummmmy! must tyi it!

  • I see that u have used the orange with its skin (rind) on. Dont u think the cake will turn out stong in flavour or a bit bitter?

  • cake turns out yumm no bitterness

  • hi thanks for taste cake i tried @looks delicious for all family but the one thing u will laugh that i didn't check the bits i forgot coz in processor so its good but next i will check thanks very much do u have any other recipe in any fruit or we shall do the same recipe but different friuts reply plze

  • I haven't tried it with any other fruit, but check out my 2 minute chocolate cake(you can add things to that recipe like raspberries etc) or you can swap the cocoa for extra flour add a dash of cinnamon the add fruit like peach & pear

  • i noticed you added more than 2 eggs in the video....but in the ingredients list says to use 2?

  • sorry about the confusion I was making double the recipe

  • tq so much:D

  • shouldn't be a problem to use a blender to do oranges then mix in other ingredients , if too heavy try adding 1/2 tsp baking powder, it may help

  • sounds like cake not cooked long enough if sank in middle, although this is not a light & fluffy cake it shouldn't be hard, did you use self raising flour?

  • looks mor of a yellow cake recipe

  • hi

umm ihave a question do you have to put the orange skin in the food processor?

sorry if the question is a bit dumb but yer

anyways im goin to try tht recipe it looks reall good :)

  • Yes you cut open look for seeds & remove if any then put in whole orange(washed) into processor I know it sounds strange but tastes really good as you puree it so well no chunky bits

  • Nice vid! I actually put on my own vid just then of an eggless orange cake using a whole orange. Job well done!

  • don't need to add any milk or baking powder as you are using self raising flour,

as for frosting beat together 350g Butter, 2 cups of Icing Sugar util light & fluffy then add 1/4 cup of milk and vanilla essence( can add a little orange or lemon zest instaed of vanilla)

  • Hello, I'm going to try and back your recipe. Just wondering if you have the frosting recipe? And do I have to add milk or baking powder to the mix? Thank you for sharing!

  • Hi! I am writting from Bogotá, Colombia. I liked what I saw, I will try it... then I will post a new comment. Thanks anyway.

    Be prosper...

  • I'm from Mendoza- Argentina -South America-Yesterday I did it - I love this recepie- Thanks for share your recipies with us. Love

  • Me again- I did it again but I changed the orange for 2 bananas plus 1/2 glass milk and 1 tbspoon of honey - delicious!!

  • is the butter salted or unsalted?can we use oil instead of the butter?

  • can be either salted or unsalted melted margerine or any type of oil although I would avoid strong tasting oils like olive oil. this cake is very forgiving, I quite often make it using Rice bran oil to kid myself into thinking its a little healthier for me

  • My wife has made this several times. Only I got the recipe from my 83 year old aunt. I dont know where she got it from but she said it came from the depression era. She is from the USA.

  • that would be about right this was my grandmothers recipe but she was a Kiwi/Canadian

  • try maybe adding 1/2 tsp of baking soda instead of baking powder will give you a bit extra lift but without soapy taste, also check out my 5 minute chocolate cake it's soo easy and yummy:)

  • Hi..thank you so much for your quick reply! i did use self raisin flour to make the cupcakes, i'm in Netherlands, i doubt the flour might be not good enough, that's why i was considering to add a bit baking powder.

I will definately try again and let you how it turns out. many thanks again.

  • The cuptcake taste great! however it seems not bouncy enough, but kinna heavy and a bit greasy, i don't know where it turned wrong, shall i add some backing powder as well?

  • Hi there recipe will be a little heavier than normal cupcake but will still be quite spongy & never greasy although very moist from the pureed orange don't add extra baking powder as this will make it taste soapy but make sure you are using self raising flour this recipe should end up the texture like a moist madera cake hope this helps

  • can you make this in a bundt or a loaf pan? I added a splash of vanilla extract and chopped pecans, to the batter and turned out great.

  • yes should be able to I make it eith as a large cake or as cupcakes I usually doulbe recipie for a large cake

  • I've made this several times now, always a winner. My boss's wife makes it into a whole cake! I think she bakes it for around 50 mins in a lined cake tin in a moderate oven. Just mix a little lemon juice with icing sugar to make a quick glaze for the top. Delicious!!

  • wootmapler sorry I can't remember where I got this recipe from I think it was from my grandmother through the counrty womens instutite I think but I can't be sure so many years ago, if you like easy things try the lemonade scone as I know the origin of those I got the recipe from talk back radio in NZ about 20 years ago...hope that helps :)

  • malcovy I'll try to get around to posting the topping its a Italian Buttercream in which you make an italian meringue then add butter to it, it stay soft and creamy

  • Wow! What an amazing recipe! I'm doing a school assignement on this specific recipe; all i need now is some background information on where it originated from! It would be great if you found out who invented this recipe, how/why. Thank you so much, though (they were delicious =).

  • What is the delicious looking topping on the orange cup cakes. I have made this cake many times and it always turns out good.

  • just used the same recipe then to make cupcakes :)

Turned out great, I iced them with some orange/choc icing. Yummm

    Thankyou :D

  • no pureeing the whole orange doesn't make it bitter it makes it extremly moist,I personally wouldn't make it with orange juice as it will probably turn out heavy (too wet)and not have as much flavour as most of the flavour of an orange is found in the skin, regarding self raising flour it is flour that raising aents have been added to if you only have all purpose flour add 1 + 1/2 tsp baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt per recipe of the amazing orange cake and it will come out the same

  • dont u think pureeing orange with the skin makes it bitter. Can we make it with Orange juice instead.

Also, please tell me whats self raising flour, is it the regular All purpose flour.

    thanks.

  • I made these cakes yesterday to try on my family. The absolutely loved them. I made more today for our park day (5 mums and 15 kids in attendance) and everybody thought they were great. I made a little glace icing to go on top. Yum Yum

  • I made tis cake it's soo easy and tastes great thanks

  • thanks for the recipe. i'll definitly try it!!
