  • Damn it. 13:18 and onward, it shows a map that considers Nepal as a part of India! Wtf! It's a separate country like Bangladesh and Bhutan.

  • great vid you have here

  • very interesting thanks

  • This is a great video

  • brilliant video some very interesting points

  • Bill/Melina. If you want to improve the lives of Indians or Africans...invest there! Also, go for micro-credit schemes!

  • some great inforamtion here thanks

  • @tigerlilly2012 oh grow up and stop being a paranoid schizophrenic. We have enough conspiracy theorists in this world. Bill gates is not deliberately killing off impoverished people because he considers them useless - this kind of BS is embarrassing to hear. Use logic - he wants to help and nor his method by sterilisation the population. Don't you think if that was true he would be in huge trouble not just with the law but also the public

  • you have some great stuff here

  • Her presentation skills are great!

  • People are dying of starvation by the 1000s everyday, way more than die of polio. The polio kids will still be there. People are dying now of starvation and gates gives them poisoned monsanto food which is insulting. And not even food most of the time, most goes to GM FOOD RESEARCH. The only reason he does it is to gift is corporate Monsanto friends with the donations. He really doesnt give a crap about suffering of people that seems quite obvious to me

  • @tigerlilly2012 ok..... to stop starvation he basically has to feed people everyday. Even bill gates isn't that rich.

Vaccines are just one per person. I am not arguing for Gates but let's be realistic. Starvation is primarily due to income disparity. Unequal wealth is far beyong Gates' control. The UN,federal reserve, IMF, world bank, national governments are to blame for that.

  • Who care about 38,000 people in india who had polio 3 decades ago when there were no vaccines. That is not even a very high number of people for a country like India that has a population of billions. And stopping this 38,000 from having polio is supposed to be a big deal? What about the millions of children who will grow up to be sterile and die of cancer from these poisoned vaccines? Polio is a trivial compared to this human rights violation. Poor people are being vaccinated at gunpoint!

  • @tigerlilly2012 3 decades ago india had a much lower population so the vaccines may have played a role in reducing "the percentage" of people afflicted with polio? When I was in india, the government would come inside trains and put polio drops in the mouths of young children and infants though not forcefully. I think the Gates foundation is just helping out?

  • @mahballzrhari Bill Gates foundation has forcibly vaccinated children at gunpoint. That is wrong. That is not helping out, that is a violation of human rights and individual free will. I believe governments should independently provide vaccines with the option to take them or not. I dont think individuals like Gates should be going in to other counties of whom they are not a citizen or part of their government and forcing vaccines on populations.

  • @tigerlilly2012 Love your name btw. Is there any evidence online that I can go over on the Gates foundation poisoning vaccines to sterilize people?

  • @mahballzrhari I am sure the vaccines have helped reduce polio. But who cares about polio when there are so many other bigger problems. Problems like Gates poisoning the vaccines.. that is a much bigger problem that the Polio that existed before. He is just making things worse for people. Lots of Indian and other 3rd world people will be sad to find out that they are sterile and cant have children in some time.. all caused by these vaccines

  • @tigerlilly2012 I don't support eugenics, someone deciding how many kids people in certain parts of the world have. I seriously hate people who try to play GOD with other's lives. That gets my blood boiling but seeing children being relieved of the pain and agony of polio is relieving. I know for you polio doesn't affect many people as other ills but for that one family, one person it's a life changer. think about it.

  • @mahballzrhari I think the Gates foundation is pathetic, that much money should save way more people than this miniscule polio issue and Monsanto. Hardly any money goes to safe food and clean water from him. I support vaccines that are safe and produced only by individual local governments, I would love to see the 3rd world be rid of polio. But Gates is shady and suspicious and I certainly wouldnt want any foreign vaccine gifts from him. Gates is a eugenicist and literally poisoning people

  • @acavideo Your non scientific mumbo jumbo formula for carrying capacity is what drives these mass murders like Gates to keep sterilizing (and causing premature death) the citizens of the 3rd world with a jab in the arm. Gates father was an abortionist who would have sterilized plenty of people in his day also. Like father like son. I am not religious, but i know a racist communist when I see one.

  • @tigerlilly2012 aren't the rates of polio dramatically less in developed nations like in western europe, usa, canada, australia, japan, south korea compared to africa, india primarily because more people have been vaccinated against polio?

  • @mahballzrhari Sanitation technology has improved in those nations over the years since the polio outbreak. There is no way to know if the rates decreased because of vaccination or because of hygiene. Gates foundation is just giving money to their vaccine company friends, through this fake foundation. Compared to other 3rd world problems, like lack of food and water, Polio is miniscule! You dont see Gates give hardly any money towards those problems.. only to Monsanto which is another lie

  • @tigerlilly2012 there's no dearth of people defecating in the open in countries like india, bangladesh. now with overpopulation, the sanitation has actually worsened in many parts of S. asia.my parents tell me how much cleaner India was in their time. Also, in India there is no lack of food but families go hungry due to income disparity. I don't know about Africa but I hear Europe imports some of it's food from africa.Chinese, Indians, Arabs are buying up farmland in Ethiopia which is outrageous.

  • The Gates come up with all sorts of clever reasons to keep pushing their vaccines but really this is about killing off the poor and the 3rd world who they despise and consider to be useless since they are not the rich elite. Who cares about the freedom of regular people. Bill Gates is a murder not a philanthropist. And any real scientist who has tested these vaccines could tell you as much. Scientifically look into the facts about the diseases this "charity" is spreading

  • @tigerlilly2012 got your mind too wrapped up in conspiracies I see on your homepage subscriptions. Gates are regular people who struck it rich. They're not part of banking dynasties, secret government with agenda. They're trying to do good and have saved thousands of lives. Vaccines have always had certain stigma associated with them but they do save lives. I'm from India and have seen poor people die miserable deaths due to AIDS and children suffer due to polio. Keep your paranoia to yourself.

  • @mahballzrhari I am not against the concept of vaccines or medicine. I dont think The Gates should have anything to do with providing those to other counties however. An Indian doctor Dr. Haruna Kaita tested large quantities of the vaccines from the Gates campaigns and found them to have chemicals that would make the vaccines recipients sterile. And Gates only donates money to Genetically Modified Foods which cause sterility and organ damage in trials.

  • @tigerlilly2012 Hi tigerlily, thanks for the dignified reply. I am not a big fan of GM foods, Monsanto but I don't think it's right to discount genetically modified foods. With current world population numbers, I have heard that only GM foods can supply all the hungry mouths with sufficient grains, produce. I am just an average guy and i try to keep an open mind so I don't know how honest, right the people making the aforementioned claims are. Monsanto and it's underhand tactics suck btw.

  • @mahballzrhari That is not true that only GM can supply enough food. There is already more than enough food for the world but the distribution is unequal because of economic factors. There is no indication that GMOs are needed to save the world, that is just hype and marketing from Monsanto to sell their crap. GMOS are extremely dangerous, hope u arent eating them on regular basis. They are tough to avoid now days. All the testing has indicated that they are not safe for consumption.

  • @tigerlilly2012 How do you expect to avoid GM foods in USA? That's the last thing on people's mind in these times with such high prices. Organic, non GM foods are considerably more expensive.

  • Comment removed

  • @acavideo Its not that simple. Search Dr. Haruna Kaita independent testing and review of the vaccines provided by the Gates foundation. Many others have done testing and found the vaccines to be contaminated. Also Bill Gates only gives genetically modified food which also causes organ damage and sterilization. He wants sterility and death of the 3rd world, the sterilants in found in the vaccines is a widespread problem and not accidental. Its not he said she said. This is the reality.

  • @acavideo Obviously there are problems in the world but covertly sterilizing non-consenting individuals is assault and a crime. Covert sterilization is not a proper way to address those problems. There is legislation that does not involve causing people to get cancer and die early and all these seedy ways that the Gates Foundation get things done in the world. Their inbred background is what causes this social hatred towards normal mankind. Yes the Gates are bottom feeding delusional retards

  • I agree with the 3 components discussed by Mrs. Gates. In my country, several NGOs despise big corporation which prevents them from thinking like one. Their data is just their observation, they don't know the right way to communicate with locals, and poor marketing. They always give ultimatums instead of inspiring people to be healthy. Marketing is in everything, even friendships. So we always have to think like a marketer

  • Studies in Africa have shown that Circumcision reduces the transmission of HIV - three studies. If there was some other thing that reduced transmission by 60% it would be gobbled up. Can you name Africans for lining up to prevent this disease which as decimated many communities?

  • All these reduce the population types are just bottom feeder non sexual creepy goons. Look at Bill Gates when he was was young, wimpy shively little turtle face, the only way for him to get back at people who look normal or are alpha types is run around with vaccines sterilizing everyone so his kind can even stand a chance to be propagated. Those two deserve each-other, the most jealous evil fug of the fug in lab coats to walk the earth. No redeeming personality for either of them

  • Melinda gates dosent like jewelry because she has no taste and doesn't know how to present herself or act feminine in any way whatsoever. Apparently she realizes this fact and the only way to cope with her flawed wicked witch of a personality is running around vaccinating and sterilizing women making to make them infertile because she is a horrible jealous butch excuse for a woman. She hates women too much to be a dyke but she resembles one. A jealous sociopath woman hater frumpy dyke

  • Stupid f@cking c@nt. People are talking of over-population, resources of the planet are rapidly running thin, financial crisis may lead to disaster in the next century and THIS STUPID BITCH IS STILL THINKING LIKE ITS THE 80s!!!

  • Ahh that explains it. It seemed strange that your comment was so reasonable except that last part. Aids denialists don't tend to be very good at using reason.

  • "We know that cirumcistion reduces H.I.V. by 60% in men."

That's not true at all. Studies showing this are flawed at best. In reality, there is no conclusive evidence that there are any health benefits to circumcision at all.

Moreover, the foreskin is the most sensitive part of the penis.

Circumcision is male genital mutilation and it is highly immoral to inflict it on infants or coerce adults into it with misinformation.

  • 114 dislikes?? wow y???

  • Coca-Cola has great marketing, but in my country they once made an add with talking sardines (it's a fish), because it is one of our tradicional dishes, and it backfired because nobody eats sardines with coke (we prefer it with meat, pizza or fast-food).

Still, to me, the main reason a bottle of Coka-Cola gets everywhere is because the company WANTS it. In case of vaccines (or other), goverments and institutions DON'T.

They get paid the same just by saying they do... we have no way to confirm.

  • Shes had a little bit too much cheap trainers training with the fakey symmetric hand and arm movements

  • I love the idea. One of the roadblocks that pops up is there is not enough money to be made in condoms, sanitation, and vaccinations.

That said, there are some amazing social entrepreneurs out there who are proving this wrong. Doing good and making a living can be a microbusiness mission too, not only corporate entities.

As a side note on the topic of corporate behavior, 1,000 small businesses employing 10 people each are much more economically stable than...

  • Scientifically motivated Circumcision to prevent HIV? sound loony to me, so I googled it.

    From a 1999 Study.

"Based on the studies published to date, recommending routine circumcision as a prophylactic measure to prevent HIV infection in Africa, or elsewhere, is scientifically UNFOUNDED."

4 years later, they somehow forgot it.

  • LOL, she pretty much says propaganda works, ha, she's got practice with that from microsoft

  • Some really good advice in here and credit to Melinda Gates for the work she's trying to do. Gates Foundation needs to partner with colalife DOT org who are already trying this stuff.

  • 1:23 and I'm thinking we're trying to deliver condoms to people or vaccinations...population control?? eugenics??

    youtube:

  • @bwmcmaste That's the general feeling we get from selfless missionaries who only want to do good, but I'm not sure that's really the case. Historically the missionary cleared the way for the colonialists. They make a poor and uneducated people dependent on them for their basic needs in exchange for their indoctrination. you can disagree with me on those points, fine, but ask yourself this - what percentage of a church donation goes to helping Africans, vs the amount you may give to say- Unicef?

  • isnt it obvious? they can get coke everywhere because people everywhere want to have coca-cola... you cant force someone who is culturally biased against condoms to want to use it.. Even in the first world most teenagers and several adults dont wear condoms for fuck's sake..

  • When Melinda Eva Braun Gates speaks "I do not listen". She and her husband Bill Hitler Gates want to sterilize the world with their vaccines. They put on a great facade!

  • When Melinda Eva Braun Gates speaks "I do not listen". She and her husband Bill Hitler Gates want to sterilize the world. I guess only her family deserves to live.

  • So many negative comments & so much angst - try being positive & supportive and accept the magnificence of what Melinda Gates has said - antipathy will not generate good - Melinda is sharing ideas which NEED TO BE ADOPTED.

THIS IS A FANTASTIC ADDRESS. Michael Le Couteur

  • @goldatend She appears patronising and unempathetic it's great that she wants to help but it appears her position has given her an arrogance that means she is feeding negative stereotypes and "help" that is not necessarily truely beneficial. Infact probably more negative than other forms as it's indirect and a lot people will take in the values on a subconcious level with no critical thinking. The basic technical side of her discussion is good but should be applied to education first.

  • One finds electrolytes in Coconuts, without the bad stuff that coke provides.

    Coke is sh*t.

  • Well, Bill and Melinda gates foundation just invested $23 million in Monsanto, one of the most evil corporations in the world and wide renowned bully in the agricultural scene. The company also own Blackwater, the largest mercenary force in the world, to infiltrate activists group.

    Check wikipedia and recent news

    Sure is "charitable" the Gates.

  • @624035008 Would you rather them not give any money to any charity at all?

  • @624035008 Monsanto's a "bully"? Do they take things by force? Did they suddenly start thinking they're a government?

  • k'naan is actaully a canadian-somalian.....

  • Is it just me or has this woman got a brilliant porn-star name?

  • @mooxim It's just your sociopathic brain activity manifesting itself on YT's comments area. Much like many of the "pearls of wisdom" that is left on here, it's only amusing to the author and not so for others.

    Try again.

  • @mooxim You probably been watching too much porn.

  • @takerdust true

  • hmm what could non-profits learn from coca-cola? Well, They could learn how to kill thousands of Pakistanis by forcing them into drought and abject poverty. Coke does what it does by killing people. I say that as i drink one.

  • @VictorphoenixDMvault Maybe your parents should have taken your advice.

  • Non profits can learn from coke how to exploit workers, kill people, ..., with such a good marketing people thinks cocacola is good for the world.

  • WOO! K'NAAN!

  • I knew right from the first mention of mothers that she would say something really trite, and I wasn't disapointed. Of course they want the same things for their kids, we're all biologically conditioned to. Omg, they're human, just like us!

  • @Khorien right on..

  • Melinda is a true hero in my estimation. Most of the negative comments here I suspect have roots in jealousy because she is rich. Compare her to the likes of the Kardashians and Hiltons. She could spend her days sipping Belinis on a yacht, but she choses to visit places of unbearable poverty to develop real world solutions to horrible problems. She wants to use effective tools to reduce unescessary death and suffering, what idiot argues with that.

  • @jradxit what????

  • the bitch dont know what she is talkin abt...her research is crap coz she dosent even know that nepal is not a part of india (13:21 ).....she needs a reality check......

  • Coca-cola wants to take over africa and they are doing a damn well job!

  • the comments are missing the point: The idea is that capitalism demands profit, and local stores are willing to sell the product...she discusses the importance of entrepeneurs. And that is important for Africa's development.

and why do you drink it? It's sweet, you can carry it with you, and you know that you won't catch typhoid or cholera from drinking coke (unlike the local water in some isolated villages).

  • "I'm really struck by the things we have in common...they want their children to grow up successful, to be healthy and have a successful life"

This should be the discovery of the century!! All these years we've all been under the illusion that in developing counties, mothers want their children to grow up unsuccessfully, be unhealthy, and fail at everything in life.

I hope you are not implying that Bill Gates wants to kill people.... Curbing population growth is paramount to our future survival and living conditions on this planet. By decreasing child mortality, people are CHOOSING to have fewer children.

We should be damn thankful that someone with the power and resources of Gates is using almost ALL of it to help others and tackle the problems we are too lazy to face ourselves.

  • I'm not sure about her facts.

knaan is somali-canadian. to call him somalian isn't giving an accurate picture.

his song wasn't created by coke, coke choose a remixed version of it for their campaign.

Circumcising these man will produce false security, condoms are the real prevention but thanks to the pope, Africans are advised against them.

what a shame. so now we have rich americans cutting african penises.

watch the documentary: The House of Numbers

  • @TheEarthAbides Thank you for the documentary title much appreciated, great post!

  • @licriss great! no problem. hope you manage to check it out. do good ;)

  • @licriss I need to correct myself i made a huge mistake in recommending that documentary House of Numbers. I said that based on watching a few clips f it online, but now that I have watched it in entirety I can tell you that it is nothing but a propaganda piece for HIV / AIDS denialists. Every scientist interviewed in it wrote a letter in protest saying they were manipulated and misquoted.

  • @TheEarthAbides K'naan is ethnically Somali and raised in Somalia. He himself often describes himself as a Somali artist. Bringing up "Somali-Canadian" is trivial and petty.

The song was created by coke, the remixed version, the version she showed in her clip. Coke asked K'naan to change the lyrics to suit their campaign.

Circumcision, as cited by several credible organizations, has many health benefits - including lowering HIV rates. Melinda did not claim it's the ONLY prevention tool

  • @Lazerguy5 ""Somali-Canadian" isn't petty, I don't care that he has lived in Canada, but it is a distinction from living and producing this track in Somalia.

If you want to say that Coke remixed the song, even if that's true, is still a lot different then saying Coke made the song. Contrast that with the song, "We've only just begun" that was written for a bank commercial.

The problem with AIDS in Africa isn't the foreskin, it's condom rejection in a promiscuous culture.

  • @TheEarthAbides Yes it is petty. And the original version of the song is about Somalia.

Again, you're being very petty. I knew exactly what she meant when she said Coke made the song for their campaign. What you're focusing on doesn't make sense.

Studies have proven that in several African states where men were circumcised it reduced the HIV rate. It's just one helpful preventative way of saving lives in a "promiscuous culture" as you claim. I'm not against saving lives every way possible

  • @Lazerguy5 He lived in Somalia until he was 13, that in your mind makes him strictly Somalian at the age of 32. It's not petty to call him Somali-Canadian, or Somali-American, or where he spent over half of his life, it establishes that he lives, works and spent the better part of his life in a country that is nothing like Somalia. This impacts the audiences perception. THAT is my point.

If studies show that stitching a woman's labia closed lowered HIV rates would you be for that too?

  • @TheEarthAbides He is Somali. His song is about Somalia. He identifies as Somali. The talk was about Africa. Bringing up Canadian is irrelevant and petty. I don't see how this adds to "perception". LOL

And you're comparing apples to oranges. Surgically removing extra skin for a longer life in no way compares to closing a labia.

  • @Lazerguy5 The speaker didn't want to muddle her point by saing the guy is Somali-Canadian. She wanted the audience to perceive that a Somalian's... ah fuck it. i'm bored now.

  • @TheEarthAbides

Coming from a place that sees rubbers as a way to get aids (thanks to the Church) any reduction of having aids infect people is atleast a little bit of secuity. There is always a better way just like no sex will be the best way to reduce aids transmission but thats not going to happen so again any reduction is a good thing. That being said I mostly agree with your comment and its implications.

  • @TheEarthAbides

The reason a company can be quite so insidious is competence. And there's always something to learn from that, including the pragmatic, perhaps even slightly tawdry usage of transitional identities to effectively and skilfully communicate with a populace.

  • @rajasmasala Good point. We know corporations are amoral so when they adopt the identity of a caring steward we are right to be skeptical. But I don't think this is a Microsoft initiative as it is probably Bill Gates wife wanting to do something meaningful with her life, and Bill is cutting the cheques for the knives and iodine.

  • @TheEarthAbides I do think Bill is in the Soros camp of capitalists, they can see that non-Fordian/Keynesian models of economics are not holding up too well as we run out of new markets to exploit. Possibly because Microsoft doesn't do much in terms of the military sector and he's not interested in being labeled a military mogul, he doesn't use that model. About six months back he was spouting some claptrap about how rich people need to implement a more responsible kind of capitalism.

  • @TheEarthAbides

Why are you telling us to watch an AIDS-denialist film?

  • @sdrawkcabgnipytmi too bad you didn't read all of my comments. I corrected myself some time ago, "I need to correct myself i made a huge mistake in recommending that documentary House of Numbers. I said that based on watching a few clips f it online, but now that I have watched it in entirety I can tell you that it is nothing but a propaganda piece for HIV / AIDS denialists. But I'm glad they do.

  • @Vortex42

Michael Jackson did a big ad campaign for Pepsi...

They served caviar at M.J.'s funeral because it comes on little white crackers... I wonder if Pepsi was also served...

  • Bill's wife is pretty.

  • @Vortex42 I'm pretty sure she was a model at some point.

  • @geragna

Actually, she was never a model. You could've found that out with a simple Wikipedia search.

Your mistake is in not having a clear definition as to what "greed and injustice" are. If by "injustice" you mean starving people by not affording them business skills and technology, then I agree with you.

If you think "injustice" is anything involving corporations, then you're wrong.

Also, greed is not merely wanting more money, it's about wanting it at the expense of others.

  • @rm06c There are so many problems with your arguement here.

Firstly, I am surprised that you would refer me to Wikipedia as a reliable source of information. The idea that Mrs. Gates was once a model could have been information that I obtained through Wikipedia, for all you know; though I do thank you for correcting my error of ignorance.

Why do you belive that corporations cannot be unjust? The very art of being unjust is to provide or to gain for yourself at the expense of or with a...

  • @geragna

You have yet to point out what is wrong with my arguments (except by merely stating they are wrong).

Wikipedia has actually been rated as a very good source of information compared to most encyclopedias.

I don't believe that corporations cannot be unjust. I disagree that corporations are unjust by fact of being corporations. Google is a corporation and has been a proponent of free speech by leaving China. Microsoft is a corporation and funded the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

  • @rm06c A link to this 'Encyclopedia Comparison Test' would be helpful. Otherwise it is foolish to cite Wikipedia, " the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit" as an infallible source of information.

I never once stated " ...that corporations are unjust by fact of being corporations," it would be ridiculous, arrogant, and ignorant say such a thing, so I have no idea why you assume that I ever said or implied that, as our entire conversation is here for reference.

  • @rm06c ... result of harm to others. Large corporations have a long history of doing just this, and they are inspired to do so out of greed. It is disgusting that they are able to continue this on a legal level.

Also, it is very humorous to me that you would accuse me of, "not having a clear definition as to what 'greed and injustice' are," seeing as in your attempt to correct me you managed to give me an incorrect definition of the word 'greed'. Well done.

  • @geragna

Large corporations do have a long history of doing harm to others. By comparison, governments and religion have been far more effective in hurting others than corporations.

I would rather buy baby formula from DOW chemical than from any government in the world.

You have yet to show what is incorrect with my definition (apart from saying so). Is greed the simple act of wanting material goods? Then we're all greedy for wanting clothes and food.

    Cock-up before conspiracy.

  • @rm06c Of course governments and religious dogma have been far more effective in doing so. This is completely irrelevant though.

I don't understand why you're bringing a company's government affiliation into this, but, safety standards and ingredient quality are superior here in the United States due to government regulations imposed upon corporations, because they cannot be trusted to keep these same high standards on their own without the government intervening (DOW Chemical for example)...

  • @rm06c ...that is why a large number of American companies outsource to other countries. They have lower standards and they can pay these people far less than they would have to pay an American citizen.

The definition of greed is very simple (you can google this for christ sake), it is the wanting or desire to have more than is necessary ,e.g., wealth, power. Clothes and food are absolutely necessary. Making $500,000 and up without contributing to the rest of humanity....

  • @rm06c ...with either a donation, outreaching to your community, or some other show of generosity with the excess of your wealth is a gross injustice to the the Human race and a shameful way to live your life. Those that do live without the drive to do any of these things with their wealth, are unjust and inspired to be so out of greed.

I think what we need to do is EDUCATE the poor how mainstream corporation exploit the world resources using subliminal but unethical and immoral well being adverts...

Corporation are run by sick psychopathic parasites.

  • @seyoumeye

    Coca Cola is poison...

Just go to your local Costco with all those Chinese made poisonous, contaminated toys and look at all the obese flabby slobs slurping that crap up by the pallet.

People will buy anything, even if their credit cards are in default and they are funding the demise of their own economy...

  • @seyoumeye

So what you're suggesting is we tell 3rd world people to not buy good from corporations that can feed their families while we enjoy running down to the Piggly Wiggly.

That is just plain elitist and ignorant bullshit. Corporations are not unethical by virtue of being corporations. It's the people in corporations that are unethical. The goods they sell are subject to market forces; if they werent good no one would use them.

There is no evidence of Asparteme being dangerous. None.

  • @rm06c Any corporation is run by blood-sucker SHAREHOLDERS ( and we know shareholders they least they care where the money is coming from - as long as there is profit), therefore, most CEOs are more than willing to sell shit products including weapons and chemicals for the sake of short term renumeration - and this way system is killing your planet. They substituded real sugar with synthetic asparteme simply because it was COST effective to test it on uniformed human guinea pigs.

  • 3:54 "bowling in the dark ... real-time data turns on the lights!" - really? That was the best methaphor for the real-time response in sales?

  • Coca Cola is good at marketing - but I bet they couldnt get one of the richest people in the world to talk at one of the most informative and respected platforms in the world without paying a single cent.

    Oh wait ...

  • Great talk

  • What she talks about is amazing. What a woman!

  • Coke wins because they have electrolytes. It's what Africans crave!

  • @dvdragon black people also are known to like the sugar.

Im not a profiling or anything but they REALLY seem to love that sugar.

  • @dvdragon but it haz...! Electrolytes

  • As a circumcised male, I believe her to be spewing some pro-circumcision bullshit. There is no evidence that proves any hypothesized benefits of circumcision. It is simply an archaic, brutal religious practice. Why voluntarily remove skin from an infants genitalia that can result in complications or even loss of the organ and always results in the loss of sensitivity just because someone thinks it looks better, which is most likely because it is how the first penis they saw appeared.

  • @AceFool7 okay, but chicks still get grossed out by uncircumcised penis

  • @AceFool7

So the Jews can't be identfied.

It's why Amercican males are all circumcised, the Jews run their country.

Banks, media houses, foreign policy and of course that private company that prints the money for the US and charges them interest, the FED!

  • I smell alotta bullshit here. Not so much the video, but in the comments.

I don't see why the anti-coke sentiment. Coke is a global corporation because they did their job damn well and got coke into the hands of millions of people. People wouldn't drink it if it tasted like crap.

Their success can certainly be a model of getting more important things into the hands of people.

Too much anti-globalization in these comments. Congrats on doing that while using a globalized website like YouTube.

  • @rm06c Female TedTalk speakers draw a lot of trolls.

  • @ratholin The most recent Female TED speakers have spouted a lot of nonsense.

  • @rm06c

I use Coke to clean the battery terminals on a car... That shit just eats your insides out, has little nutritional value and contributes to childhood diabetes and obesity... It is basically caramel colored poison...

  • @SirWinstonChurchill

Mythbusters tested that out. Coke is not special, just about any liquid will clean the battery terminals in your car.

It does not eat your insides out. Your natural stomach acids are far more effective than Coke.

As for the claim that it causes childhood diabetes and obesity, it is more likely the reduction in regular exercise that is the leading cause of obesity and the resulting diabetes.

Coke is just sweetened carbonated water, not poison.

  • @rm06c

Saccarine is poison... Aspartame is poison... Coca Cola is poison...

And since they took the cocaine out of it, what's the point?

  • @SirWinstonChurchill

There is no evidence of saccharin, aspartame, or coca-cola being poison. This is just delusional thinking. There are no credible studies showing either of them to be dangerous in their current levels of usage.

The point is that it still tastes good. It was marketed well. And that's why people drink it.

And the same marketing techniques can be used to get more important things to people like condoms, vaccines, and sanitation.

  • @rm06c : YES! Make condoms taste like Coke! We've cracked it! (the problem... not the condom!) ;o)

  • @rm06c If someone's primary goal through their work is financial gain then that person is only a selfish being. It is not a 'job' for the people that live their lives this way. They are the unjust of society. They should not be envied nor should they be idolized; though useful and just data can be obtained through scrutiny of the ethics of imperialists/corporations such as Coca Cola, their ethics are not just.

  • @geragna

So you're basically insulting 80% of the people with jobs. Not everyone cares about grand goals of delivering product to millions of people. Most are simply interested in feeding and providing for their family.

Does that make them "unjust"? No, they are simply normal.

Your anti-globalization sentiment is just oozing through your comment.

  • @rm06c The 80% that you are referring to do not fall under my afore mentioned classification of the Coca Cola company. These people that are "simply interested in feeding and providing for their family," are of a separate classification. Their primary goal, as you stated, is to provide for their family.

I am not at all 'anti-globalization", as you have put it. I am against the idea that injustice and greed will lead to happiness and wellbeing. This should not become a model for our future.

  • @rm06c Is Coke healthy? No,

Is Coke marketed in a deceptive way to children (i.e. equating it with healthy images and lifestyles)? Yes

Does Coke have a history of exploiting workers in the third world? Yes

Does Coke, as a mega-corporation, generally speaking (and left to it's own devices) put profit before people? Yes

    Think before you speak.

  • @rm06c I agree with you. Some pretty good ideas here. The only thing I don't get is the circumcision promotion in Africa to prevent AIDS(?!) From the stats and general opinions I read on wiki, I remain unconvinced on this.. maybe a small reduction in risk, but different studies gave differing results and some were pretty darn marginal at best.

  • @Silkspine

I do agree with the criticism on the circumcision promotion. There's no clear evidence about its effectiveness and using a condom is guaranteed more effective than circumcision.

But even still, the bulk of her talk was very good and demonstrates a great method of using the power of business and marketing to achieve real important objectives like the millennium goals.

  • @rm06c Agreed on all points. Giant corporations like Coca Cola do not exactly conjure a warm emotional reaction in me, but gotta hand it to them in some ways. And hey, if we can't beat them, we can at least learn from them... and join them :)

  • The "study" on aids is not a study but a freaking survey. You need actual subjects in a lab to have real research. Otherwise you selecting people with different habits and more money so they can afford circumcision. It actually means nothing whether it prevents aids or doesnt. It might cause aids to spread faster for all we know
