Tilt trick ftw, but if the switch does finally kick the bucket, it is a bitch to get at. You have two options. Take both lower panels out, and reach in with a small wrench to unbolt (incredibly difficult. I had to bend my wrench to reach), and then spend even longer trying to get the bolts back in. 2nd is to drop the entire column down, and get at it easily... But tighten that damn thing back in tight.
I Have 91 Formula, and I fixed the same thing. I took my off the road this summer because Head gasket went after driving it EVERY DAY for 17 years. I want to rebuild the whole thing.
Anyone have advice on restoring original look to faded factory wheels?
I just tried the "Tilt Trick" and I found that putting the wheel in the lowest position possible works every time for me. I'll get around to actually fixing it one of these days.
i figured out the problem. there is a rod down by your gas pedal that needs to be readjusted. in the mean time put your tilt steering in different area's and then try to flip the high beams off and on
just started having this issue with my 91 Firebird tonight, same deal, tilt the wheel and it works again

I have the same exact problem. 1991 Firebird with a 305 V8. If I find any better solution to this problem I'll post it here.
