  • love the vid, well trained ,i have three male dogs and just wondered if bitches are easyer to train as i find mine can be a handful at times but with one being a rescue he just backs of and one is just to over active but i do have results with him but can be a bit crazy at times ,the other is just my shadow now as he is getting old lol,

  • I love this video. The prayer was so cute!!

  • not a single dislike! love this dog! wish mine was as good!

  • My border collie doesn't know anything like this but she knows directions which is always fun

  • She's absolutely precious and you are a fabulous trainer. You are both obviously having a good time, so I don't know how you trained her but i'm sure it was with lots of love.

  • im trying to teach my pup to bow...not so easy shes border collie too, any suggestions?

  • the picture at :05 made me laugh so hard

  • @texshan74 is she hyper at this age cause i got one and shes seven wks ;)

  • I taught my Australian Shepherd to bark when you ask her if she's self-aware.

It's a rather highbrow joke, but it does get some laughs.

  • Doesn't that sound exciting?

    (Yawn)

    Priceless!

  • at the end shes like "Psst! I'm a border collie! I could do that routine in my sleep..."

  • I just want to say how impressed I am, She is a credit to you as a trainer. My border collie is well behaved and can follow instructions but nothing comparing to what i have seen star do.

  • i want a border collie so bad, im 12, i LOVE your star vids, i cant have a bc yet becuas my family has a small back yard, and i live in 2 houses, mom and step dad devorsed, 4 siblings, bilogical dad in iraq so im going to have 3 houses soon, but when i get 18 -22, i WILL have a bc, im thinking inernet collage to spend time with her, yes its going to be a girl, i have a small chance of haveing one when my dad comes back, any advise? please repliy, I LOVE BORDER COLLIES

  • @YoungSurvivalNW I'm glad you understand about waiting for the right time for a BC, I had many other wonderful dogs before this one. Please pick the best college for your future, you

can get a BC after that! I know of people in school that have them in an Apt., just hard but they still give them a lot of exercise. I recommend taking them to obedience classes and if you have time agility is fun.

I know you must be proud of your Dad, I hope he is home soon!

  • @YoungSurvivalNW haha i am also 12 and i really want a BC too, but i learned my lesson about having a dog while u r young. I wanted a Boxer for my familys first dog and mine when i grew up. It turned out that that dog was not meant for me, but crazy enough the next night I had a dream about a border collie and from that dream i know that a BC is my kinda dog. Its better to wait and have ur own thoughts than to get and have others thoughts for you.

  • @YoungSurvivalNW I too, want a border collie but my dad says we live in small place and it wouldn't work out ,I still would do anything to get a puppy collie!

  • @YoungSurvivalNW i recommend you choose to adopt a BC rather than buy one from a breeder. you can help save a border collie's life

  • I love your videos! You two are great together. I am looking forward to the day I get my first Border Collie. I have Siberian Huskies now and want to down size. I would love to have one dog that is all about toys, balls, disks AND tricks!

I love Sibes but they are all about TREATS! Occasionally play with tug but it's sketchy at best. Retrieve is not in their dictionary. Interesting working agility with them. It's a crap shoot. The Sibe will either do very well or be completely off-the-wall. G

  • Great dog! Awesome video. Im actually having some trouble with my Collie. It seems hes bored with clicker training. Before he would want to figure things out and now he just gives up.. maybe the reward isnt great enough?...[Hes 10 months]

  • Adorable! Such a smart and beautiful pet.

  • have u always trained dogs?

  • i just got my border collie maybe if you got the time you could maybe post a vid of how to do the tricks

  • Star is just amazing!! and she is sooooooo beautiful!!!

  • I have a question =) you seems to know a lot of border collies =) I have a border collie too and she's obedient, but I do not make any sport activities with her (agility etc) because she is very bitchy on other dogs and she doesn't like to jump all the time , she's just playing with the ball all the time (because she loves it), so my question is: Is it bad, when your border is just playing with the ball all the time ?besides she get's some mental tasks too

  • do you still give candy as a treat?

  • Unbelievable devotion you have to that dog, I admire you and star.

  • Does she also drive you to work ? wouldn't surprise me ! Great dog great owner

  • best dog ever!!!!

  • im sooooooooo an adoring fan! i love this dog!

  • I Love Border collies! Please make more of that videos!

  • Thank you so much for sharing your videos of Star! Border Collies are my favorite breed! She is so smart and so beautiful! You have done a wonderful job training her. I hope she gives you many, many more years of companionship and unconditional love! =)

  • wow so cute when she rings the bell she looks with her eyes. dat she let me melt:P its a wonderful dog. my border is not that good coz we dont sure if he is from a good breder. bt our first border was amezing she put the dishes in the dish wasser and all that stuff what you do. they dont care about that they like doing it right? thanx for again a great movie.

  • Star looks so graceful :)

a random question, but how did you housebreak her?

  • Another great one! I adore Star.

  • do u throw her a birthday party she is talented and she does listen unlike my stubburn dogs lol

  • that prey sounds like the one that my great aunt made for my mom that she gave to me. It goes

Now befor i run and play let me not forget to prey to god how kept me through the night and woke me in the morning light

  • that dog is smart

  • wow thats awesome,

    How do you train it?

I got 5 year old border collie, soo sweet, but can you still teach them tricks at 5 years old?

and does this puppy chase cars? cause my dog border collie is a sheep driver, ( border colies are that) and ehmm, he chase cars.. kinda weird, but when he see a cars, he go crazy, and want to jump to it, and bite it :S

    sorry for bad english.

  • That'll do!

  • so sweet!

  • she's so much beautiful and smart!! I just love her, u did a great job!

  • wow, inspiring me in New Zealand.

  • I love your dog and how much you've given out of your time to train her, I wished all people spent a little time with their dogs, they would be much happier!

    Congratulations :)

  • Wow! Your dog is amazing! :) I taught my border collie to "sit pretty" (on his hind legs) and then I make a gun with my fingers and go "BANG" and he plays dead! :) border collies are definitely the smartest breed, I don't care what anyone says! I love how you got Star to open and close her own crate! Awesome! :)

  • I am very pleased that you've trained you're dog so well and thats how it should be done.

  • She is a beautifull dog and she is very smart!!!!! I loved all the tricks that you tought her!

  • can u do more videos please

  • totally awesome borders are my favourite breed of all

  • once again touched my heart. what a sweetie.

  • wow incredible I have a 3 month border colie do you have a web page ¿? or facebook where I can find you I will be very happy to have your atvice!! psdata I am from Mexico!!

  • I am IN LOVE with Star omg. I miss my border collies, rip. Ugh, It's been so long, I can't wait to move so I can get another. <3 It doesn't matter how much I'm aware of Border Collies intelligence they never seize to amaze me.

oh, and how did you train star to help around the house ? (I've been stalking your dog, haha:)

  • She's so pretty!

  • smart dog

  • I love your Dog, ;]

  • I've tried to train my golden retriever to do things like this, but all i can her to do is sit, lay down, paw....then when it comes to retrieving the ball....I'll throw it and she runs away and plays with it...haha, I'd pay you to train my adhd dog.

  • also, are they easy to train and toilet train? and i made a mistake, we live in a suburb. sorry

  • hi texshan74, you seem to be a very responsible owner and i'm wondering whether the border collie is the right dog for me. we live in a rural area and i have 2 children 13 and 10. we've raised a labrador puppy for a few months but that's it. thanks

  • @pfistersarah1 a border collie would be great as long as your children are active :]

  • Watched all ur vids with here ,... she is amazing and beautiful young lady. ;))

  • i love the prayer and crate bit! its soo cute! x GO STAR! i love your videos!

  • Beautiful dog!! Love this breed!

  • So is the doorbell in place to keep her from barking when she notices someone's there? Instead she just rings the doorbell I mean? If so that's an amazing idea.

  • Does she respond to hand signals, or just verbal command? Or does she understand both?

  • She understands both, I think she prefers the hand signals so she doesn't have to listen to me

  • Haha, the prayer one was so adorable. You must be quite the trainer :) thanks so much for posting!

  • She is just the cutest! I love watching her. Very well trained and smart. What doesn't she know how to do haha?

  • aww... can you put up another vid? BTW, this really helped. I showed it to my mum and now we're getting a cavalier (in April). THNX SOOO MUCH XXXXX

  • I enjoyed watching this video. I hope find the time to make another. Brilliant dog (and you aren't so bad yourself)!

  • Did you teach it to yawn when you say exciting? Lol. At the beginning at 00:20 when you said "doesn't that sound exciting?" she yawned, and the end at 2:41. Is that some sort of little joke? Ahaha.

  • I love your videos!!

  • You are BOTH awesome! :)

  • what breeder is she from, if you don't mind me asking?

  • Not at all, she is from G Force Border Collies in Louisiana.

  • I want a border collie SO badly, but it would be cruel to keep one in our backyard. Maybe when I have my own place.

Good work on training Star; know matter how smart the dog is, it takes great effort from the owner to see that kind of progress.

  • amazing dog!!!

  • I really enjoyed seeing your video. I hope there will be more. My border, Murphy, is 10. I have trained him some, but seeing Star, I wish I had worked with him more when he was young. More videos, please!

  • all that my dogs understand are sit up, shut up, and go bye bye(say that whenever we go on walks, so they always freak out)

  • you have a very smart dog. i love border collies too. i have one and she gave birth on 02/21 too :)

  • impressive. i love border collies. my dog was so smart, he actually trained himself. i spent lots of time with him after work. but his main job was watching my disabled husband all day. he was the babysitter.LOL they enjoyed each others company and i taught him to pick up after my hubby. i often found everything in the trash when i wud get home LOL smart dogs. his favorite toy was a green plastic bone. watching this video made me miss my Tipper.

  • Your dog is incredible, I have a question, How many hours per day did you spend to train him or her?

  • I play with her off and on throughout the day, maybe 5 minutes one time or an hour if time allows. All total any where from 3 to 6 hours a day. I tie the training into playtime to keep it fun for her. They do need a lot of exercise and mental stimulation.

  • I'm in the process of getting a border collie but i've only ever had male border collies before. Do you think there's a difference between males and females?

  • Only the obvious! I've never owned a male Border Collie but I don't think it makes much difference female or male, they are great dogs.

  • Lovely dog you have there :) My God, I'll be so happy when we're going to get my BC in the future.

  • doesnt that sound exciting... yawn.

lol this is a cool dog .

  • yep good dog really happy to please mine is 2yrs old (nellie) loves to herd cows deer rabbits anything... but the thing i see here is your dog is like mine thinking 3 steps ahead.... nice video...VERY SMART DOGS

  • awrrr shes brill xD

she reminds me of my 1 year old border collie x english springer spaniel since he begs and bows ect ect..., the only difference is that he has abit of atitude lol

  • My friend has a BC named Ripley and they do agility. Rip likes to nip as he would do to herd sheep. But sometimes he nips when he gets frustrated (just like he would do when sheep wouldn't move) and he has bit clear to the bone before. No one blames him because that's just what he knows to do, but it is quite painful. Beautiful dog and amazing tricks by the way. :)

  • beutiful :) im from texas too

  • shes amazing!!!!

  • Oh she's too cute!

  • PLEASE HELP ME! My 3 (three) year old Border Collie named Scout has a problem, no matter how much I comb him, he ALWAYS gets horrendous dread locks on his tail! Someone please help me, I feel like such a bad parent to him!

  • mayb consider having him cliped by a groom evry fue months... it depends wether u would mind him being short haired

  • Yes, Border Collies are suitable for anything except being coup-ed up. They live to work and must do this it's what they do. I have heard so many great stories about Border Collies. She is beautiful.

  • I LOVE it!!!!!! made me giggle too, I think the exciting/yawn trick is something I have GOT to train, that is such a funny cue for that trick! I just love all your videos!

  • I love 1:35 the prayer. Adorable!

  • Hey is Star part of the River Run Border Collies in MI? Because there's a female there who looks a lot like her and has the same name.

  • No, that's not my Star. I wish she was though, she is a great looking girl and judging from her awards I'm not the only one who thinks so!

  • hi texshan74, i really enjoy your videos and i just got casey, my first border collie puppy! she is really nice and very friendly! but my dad and i were watching your videos and were wondering how you got Star to open her cage door and then shut it and stay in. by the way please make more videos i love watching star shes my favorite thing to watch on youtube! <3

  • are border collies sutible for children? btw, ALMOST ALL border collies have that stripe.

  • you have to be careful cause they have the instinct to want to herd. But they won't hurt them at all :)

  • make more videos! i am astonished by star. she looks so much like my pup, Casey, but Casey is no where near as smart! i love the white stripe down her forehead Casey has that also! 2:42 so funnyyyyyyy! fabulous video! i am Star's #1 fan!!!!!!! ;-)

  • star is amazing no joke

  • Star is a gorgeous border collie. I love mine, though he is not as well trained as that! :)

  • star is all that :)

  • I love it! I want a Border Collie so bad...i just need some land 1st. MORE videos please!! :)

  • My mom's Border Collie is a smooth-coat, about 42 pounds, and is like Star on 15 pots of coffee. You say her name, "Emma," and her head snaps your direction. Her favorite commands are "Emma, "let's do chores" (she gets excited and focused) and "Emma, get that cow!" (her mach-speed attack).

We use the same commands you use with Star, most notably "drop" and "leave it".

Congratulations on enabling Star to use all of her intelligence.

  • coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooollllllllllllllllllllllllllll !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • My dog is smart like Star, but she is so much less obedient and a lot more mischievous (she enjoys locking me out of the house). Smart dogs are so much fun. Star certainly seems delightful!

  • LOL, I love the prayer!!!

  • great dog, you must spend a lot of time with them, great owner and nice videos

  • What a wonderful dog. Start looks like myown Border Collie... I just don't know how to train a dog.

  • omgoooosh i'm amazed!!! good job !

how do i get our husky like this...... lol

  • Actually I bet you can, just takes time and patience! Huskies are great dogs, also very intelligent.

  • Nive to see her full grown/ Your an awesome team.

  • I posted already on your other video so I won't repeat myself, but I neglected to say, you have a beautiful home. Keep up the good work with Star....she's too cute for words.

  • she's great :) i like your vid :D

  • Lovely :)))

  • Comment removed

  • She can make a movie I think

  • Awesome!! You guys are so great! You should start doing demo's at schools, nursing homes etc people would love to see you two work.

    Another great video.

    Hugs,

    Trish

  • Thanks Trish,

Obviously I am very proud of her, she makes me look good! She's a wonderful dog!

  • Actually it takes more than a good dog and you know it. It takes a good trainer too. :-)

    ~Trish
