@michaelfergusonuk Someone's touchy! Are you the original designer of this car? As a matter of fact, I have 20/20 visio, so there goes your suggestion, down the drain. I didn't even say anything about the F40 or Zonda being nice or not. I only commented on the XJ200 (which IS ugly), not to mention the early ordering customers got shafted by Jaguar deleting the V12 and going for a V6. A V6 in that type of car. You have to be kidding me.
It's just a terrible car, as terrible as one can be.
@1D0N Ok so it's just your judgement that is defective then (although it's XJ220 NOT XJ200 you ninny).
I pointed out a car that attually IS Ugly to point out that your wrong entirely, i had similar Arguements with other ignorant people on my Engineering Course & enjoyed Destroying their claims then too ;)
If you had done any research into this British Supercar you'd know why she is a V6, & that She is MORE Powerfull & Faster as a result (223MPH or 230MPH depending if XJ220-B or XJ220-S).
@michaelfergusonuk Seriously dude, I'm not going into some debate with someone on the internet. You obviously find the car to be "all that". All I can say is More Power To You! And I mean that. I wish I could be happy so easily.
It still is, the XJ220, an abomination. And that'll be my final verdict and comment. Cheers.
@1D0N Well it's good that you aren't attually looking for a arguement (although saying something like that to begin with was always going to attract flak from someone sooner or later, someone far less restrained than I am).
Since i have studied her in detail & attually seen one i can resoundedly say that your wrong, yes she has her flaws but all cars do so thats a mute point.
Plus with "Jeremy Clarkson" / "Tiff Needel" & "Martin Brundel" all speaking well of her thats four to one.
@1D0N Plus that "3.5 Letre /Quad cam / Fuel Injected V6 (with two Garrat Turbo Chargers) is also All British (unlike the V12 in the Meclaren F1 which was German) & one of the best Engines of it's type ever built.
Besides if you want a ghastly failure try the "Detomaso Pantera" (Badly made & Rotted like hell) or the
"Briklin SV-1" (The WORST Supercar attempt ever to exist in EVERY way [ Badly Designed / Badly Made & a ruddy Death trap too).
So now you know better(or you should by now anyway ;)
@1D0N you're rediculous. you need to get laser eye surgery man. the XJ220 is one of the best looking supercars ever made. maybe even the best looking car ever. everybody about it says supercar. and how is it a bad thing that they were able to make a V6 in a heavier car faster than the zonda? it's impressive to say the least. A 12 cylinder may have been better and more reliable but even still, for it's day in age the3 XJ220 was impressive and better looking than 90% of all cars ever made
@michaelfergusonuk I don't know about that. I prefer the XJ220 but I don't think the zonda is ugly. At a glance, sure, but after seeing it so often I actually think it's one of the better looking supercars. It has this look as if it's meant to fly around corners. There are a bunch of better looking supercars but I still like it. The XJ220 definetly is faster than the original zondas and far easier to drive but I think in the right hands a zonda f roadster could beat it
@thnk4urself Well i admit i do have a pet hatrid for the Zonda (I use the XJ220 as a yard stick to judge all Supercars intended for the same sector of the market as she was & found the Zonda & "Porsche Carrera- GT" as being less capable dispite being more powerfull & advanced, which is inexcusable & a painfull reminder of the 1994-2005 period, were Supercars were an almost dying breed due to the supercar market collapse).
That & i find a lot of present day cars ugly & offputtingly tatemodernish.
@michaelfergusonuk I actually prefer the looks of most modern supercars but the xj220 is a big exception. It beats most anything because of it's shape alone. I'm surprised the Carrera GT is slower around tracks but I also haven't seen a lot of lap times posted for the XJ220. I'd like to know what it would do at nurburgring. I'd say 7:33. Does the XJ220 have any race parts from TWR? I know a few video games with custom parts say it has racing parts already. It that's why it's faster than moderns?
@thnk4urself Well if you mean ones like the "Lamborgini Reventon" / "Prodrive P2" or the "Noble M600" then i agree but i will always love the looks of 1970's-1990's Supercars like the "Aston-Martin Bulldog" / "Maserati Merak SS" / "Ferrari 355"/ "Vector W8" / "Lotus Esprit" & "Lamborgini Countach" with their Pop up Headlamps & Rakish Styling, in my view cars like the Zonda are both less attractive (to be polite) & less impressive Mechanically & Performance wise than they could & SHOULD be :(
@thnk4urself As for your XJ220 Query i'll be happy to oblige ;)
The Featured Video on my Channel has that lap time for the Nurburgring (the old ring before they altered the layout a few years back [ making it shorter slightly if i remember right ]).
That Video is also the 2nd ever Video that i watched properly on YT & the best on her to date.
The XJ220 (Standard road version) would be slower round a Track BUT that is easily solved by Modern Tyres & uprated Brakes (same for the F40).
@thnk4urself I can also say YES she does have TWR parts (she was a co-operative effort between Jaguar & "Tom Walkinshaw Racing" after all, like the "XJR-9" Racing Car & "XJR-15" Supercar )
(the XJ220-C & XJ220-S are the better examples of that though as they were done by TWR themselves).
I have brought together quite a few XJ220 Videos i've found on YT but i'm always adding more to that collection & wil be uploading some of my own soon (once i've got over a current Format compatibity issue).
@michaelfergusonuk cool. it's hard to find good videos on it. the XJR-9 is the group C car right? is the XJR-15 the predecessor to it? I like that car. It's different but still a very good looking car
It's the XJR-9's Race winning V12 Engine that was originally intended for the XJ220 "but Jaguar found they couldn't extract the required HP from it & meet the ever tightening Emmisions controls" (Tiff needell quote from1993) their were several reasons for the Engine Change (The latter / Weight & Ford's interferance at the time) but the co-current XJR-15 did have that V12 (Abet not tuned to optimum power though [not sure why]) so she's not as fast as the XJ220.
@michaelfergusonuk it can be hard to use racing engines for production cars for those reasons. they may have not wanted to start a new engine from scratch either. I think the weight they saved is pretty valuable bcuz the XJ220 handles great. It gets off the line quickly too
@thnk4urself I did also have two Top Gear Reports from the 1990's favourated on my channel but they have since been removed by the Copyright Stasi & i'm having to hunt down examples elsewere online, i intend to upload them to YT as soon as i do though since they give good info on the XJ220.
I'm always adding fresh discovery's (XJ220 & otherwise) to my Favorate & Playlists so your welcome on my channel anytime, i can always send any really good ones too of course.
@partyatmccartys "how the hell can a 342HP car go over 200?" simple aerodynamics there is a 90HP car that broke 200 designed by luigi colani and it supposedly got 78MPG while doing so, it just takes a shit load of time to get there
The Jaguar XJ220 after all has 550HP (or 680HP with the XJ220-S) but is faster than the Pagani Zonda which has 750HP.
It's not how much power the Car has, it's how she Transfers it onto the Road, & in this respect the F40 & XJ220 are still no less legendary than they were when they were the fastest in the world
OMG. XJ220 is the most beautiful car. Too bad they were not produced with the V12 that the concept was shown with. I still would do nearly anything to obtain such a rare, lovely automobile.
@bigphreaking She is more Powerfull than if she had been fitted with Jaguar's V12, & to this day she is the fastest Road going Supercar with a British Engine ("Austin-Rover Twin Turbo Quad cam 3.5 Letre V6" to be exact) & the fastest with a V6 that has ever been built or most likley ever will be.
The Jag is also lighter & shorter that she was as the prototype (XJ220A) but it is a shame about her not having the "ABS" & "FF FWD" planned.
ferrari have always got the formula correct. in some cases they dont always have the fastest top speed, but in the real world, they are always faster. good acceleration, perfect cornering and handling, which make them better on the track. sure the jag will beat the f40 in a straight line eventually, im sure the f40 will destroy it on the track or even in short sprints. you cant always depend on top speed, but you always need handling, this it what ferrari do best !!
@mammo8369 You oviously haven't seen the XJ220-C & XJ220-S then i take it.
The C was the Racing version of the 220 & the S was a Carbon Fibre bodied / 680HP / 230MPH version (only 6 in the world) which where very manuverable indeed (given their Uprated Brakes & further improved Areodynamics thats no real suprise).
That & Ferrari haven't always got it right it has to be said, the Testarossa for example,
that said the "F40" & the "355" are two of the finest Handling & good looking Supercars ever.

@monsterenergy713 Oh..the part of the driving technik lol. I wouldnt do that, but they did. Kind of joking with God isnt nice. But they are funny and putted as it was (to me), sounded a bit what those cars really are, a thrill. And i believe those arent his words also. Some artist write and direct those wonderfull car programs. Probably his vision of GOD is miles away from mine. But the same GOD gave him his talents. I respect that.
wow i used to like F40 but from isnside totaly rabbish and i though that XJ220 not that fancy from inside i think by todays cars our standard for the fancy cars get higher when i am going to pay 200 000 for a car i expect at least to listen to muslic while driving when i want to
@michaelfergusonuk actually now I disagree with what I first said. It kind of looks like a kit car but that's the thing with super light ferrari's. I think that's part of their greatness, they're commited only to being pure driving machines. I do agree, the XJ220 is more of a supercar and the Ferrari's more of a track car but I still think they're both 2 of the most definitive supercars. The XJ220 doesn't get the recognition it deserves bcuz it didn't sell well or whatever happened with it
@thnk4urself Attualy The XJ220 Sold very well indeed, 281 Built makes it more than twice as successful as the later Meclaren F1, that & it only took several days for Jaguar after announcing Orders to have a hundered more than the number of cars they were going to attually make (which was 220-360 planned total production).
To Ferrari's credit though the did make nearly Three times as many F40's as they intended originally & she is the last car of the legendary founder "Enzo Ferrari" himself ;)
@michaelfergusonuk I always heard that that the XJ220 was a commercial failure though? I hope it isn't true because that ccar is awsome. it's also very impressive what it did with just a 3.5. It's one of the best lookng cars ever I think also
Yeah man you are right prolly. In the time i made that subtitles i didn't knew of his solo stuff. I though all his stuff about cars was top gear. Bad mine. Pretty awesome solo things he have.
The last car was by far one of the stupidest things I have ever heard... Only on the internet can these retards roam freely.. The F40 a legendary machine, the last ever worked on by Enzo Ferrari himself.. and hands down Ferrari's most iconic car and in my opinion the best car in the world... asides the Nissan Skyline GT-R BNR32/34
Im with you. GOD knows how i wish to drive one of those one day. The F40. Best sportscar ever made (considering its age). In second place to me comes the Mclaren F1. One day i will put my hands in one of those.
good that not everyone has the same taste. it's simply another style, some prefer it to a ferrari design. the f40 looks like an oldtimer beside it - for me.
Ô mano, valeu mesmo. Sugestões são bem vindas. À medida do possível eu faço, claro.

@1D0N In your own empty head maybe, go & get your eyesight tested since it's oviously defective.
The Pagani Zonda is the Ugliest Supercar in human history (repulsive heap of inferior overpriced scrap)
The Jaguar XJ220 as compared is one of the most Beautifull ever made

Besides the only gastly interior (if you were paying attention anyway) is the F40's, which is as bland & Boring as a egyptain's lavatory.

But they are funny and putted as it was (to me), sounded a bit what those cars really are, a thrill. And i believe those arent his words also. Some artist write and direct those wonderfull car programs. Probably his vision of GOD is miles away from mine. But the same GOD gave him his talents. I respect that.

you've gotta wonder, with everything that the f40 doesn't have, why does it cost so much. i've heard of paying for the name but wow.

The Ferrari F40 in my opinion is the finest supercar ever made, it just had that something that newer ferrari's don't have, and just look at it....

F40 looks like a plastic kit car compared to the Jag
malcstag 2 years ago 27
you know it kind of does. the F40's a great car but it sort of does look like a kit car. the XJ220 is beautiful and very fast
thnk4urself 2 years ago 19
@thnk4urself Agreed, i always have viewed the F40 as being more like a Track day car than a Supercar, although like the
XJ220 & to quote "Tiff Needel" ..... "She is only really at home... at SPEED".
(stated by him in 1993 when summing up the XJ220).
michaelfergusonuk 1 year ago
@michaelfergusonuk actually now I disagree with what I first said. It kind of looks like a kit car but that's the thing with super light ferrari's. I think that's part of their greatness, they're commited only to being pure driving machines. I do agree, the XJ220 is more of a supercar and the Ferrari's more of a track car but I still think they're both 2 of the most definitive supercars. The XJ220 doesn't get the recognition it deserves bcuz it didn't sell well or whatever happened with it
thnk4urself 1 year ago
@thnk4urself Attualy The XJ220 Sold very well indeed, 281 Built makes it more than twice as successful as the later Meclaren F1, that & it only took several days for Jaguar after announcing Orders to have a hundered more than the number of cars they were going to attually make (which was 220-360 planned total production).
To Ferrari's credit though the did make nearly Three times as many F40's as they intended originally & she is the last car of the legendary founder "Enzo Ferrari" himself ;)
michaelfergusonuk 1 year ago
@michaelfergusonuk I always heard that that the XJ220 was a commercial failure though? I hope it isn't true because that ccar is awsome. it's also very impressive what it did with just a 3.5. It's one of the best lookng cars ever I think also

Thanks for posting this fun video. It's not from Top Gear though. It looks like one of Jeremy Clarkson's own video series.

Yeah man you are right prolly. In the time i made that subtitles i didn't knew of his solo stuff. I though all his stuff about cars was top gear. Bad mine. Pretty awesome solo things he have.
Dryzaum 2 years ago
@TheJoePepper Attually it is from "Top Gear" (well, "Old Top Gear" anyway).
I don't remember which year this was broadcast originally though,
i didn't religously watch the old one at the time i admit, to my regret.

One day i will put my hands in one of those.

the jag looks like pure shit compared to the f40 though

good that not everyone has the same taste. it's simply another style, some prefer it to a ferrari design. the f40 looks like an oldtimer beside it - for me.

japabr16 2 years ago
Ô mano, valeu mesmo. Sugestões são bem vindas. À medida do possível eu faço, claro.

Dryzaum 2 years ago
Po obrigado Drizaum! Uma F40 dessas a venda custa, no minimo, R$600 mil lá fora fora os impostos etc. Continue com o seu trabalho, muito bom!
