I've had friends and family that were addicted to drugs and alcohol (myself included), and it's honestly their own fault. Everyone knows what drugs are and what is addicting at a young age. They know that the drugs they're snorting, shooting, eating, or smoking is addicting, yet they do it anyway thinking "it's not going to happen to me"... Everyone goes through shit in their lives and not everyone copes with drugs.

@BrianMcD86If you ever listen to another version of the song you will notice there is a voicemail he plays at the beginning of the song from his mother basically telling him she hasnt talked to him in awhile and she is checking up to see if he picked up his medication. Point being he has some disorders you have zero clue about, and the way he chooses to handle his problems his 100% his choice. I wont ever understand, you wont ever understand, but please respect and think outside the box for once

this song reminds of my mom- bc she always tried to show us her love even when she was messed up on drugs she gave her rights up for us girls and i will never ever be able to be as strong as her, even though to others she seems weak, but she does love us and we miss her.

@anglabrwn0313 My husband and the father of our baby, died by suicide also, and this song hi the proverbial nail on the head. In his goodbye letter, he tried to explain it, but he really didn't explain it. He thanked me for carrying him emotionally "all these years," then basically said that he has always been messed up and he hoped that one day I would forgive him. I have never been so shocked in all of my life. This song, is how it all feels.

I am active in the local out of the darkness walk raising money for awareness and bringing awareness to my kids and the community. after 17 years it feels like i am finally doing something about it. maybe you can check out yours in your area and walk with your baby, does the soul some good to be around others who get it
@swarty37 Thank you very much. Might I add that my husband's suicide ocurred when I was 25 and our daughter had just turned 5. She is 20 now, and every time that the same time of year rolls around, it still hurts. I have felt the pull toward suicide in my life, but my broken ness tells me how destructive it is to the people we love, It's a catch 22.
