Dude, you're hilarious. I will definitely keep this in mind for the next time I have trees that need trimming in an area where discharging firearms isn't prohibited. :D
Question: can a shotgun hit your plates you shoot a lot with pistols without damaging them? All I've ever seen you shoot is slugs at the gong. Can a slug shoot the animals without damaging them?
bought a gun, but he doesn't know for what! o, well, honey, i'm going to trim the trees, ok?! ooh, damn, now i'm still gonna need a machine gun to trim the hedge!!
The only problem I can see with using a Saiga shotgun for this chore is the magazine getting in the way. Too bad I'm inside the Oklahoma City metro or I'd borrow my bud's 12ga. for some trimming.
Shotguns are perfect for trimming trees! It's a little bit expensive nowadays, but still pretty economical, especially when you compare it to going out and buying a polesaw or something like that - now those things are dangerous!
@hickok45 This has got to be one of the coolest videos you have done yet Hickok. That is a great idea for trimming trees. Too bad I can't do that here in Commi-fornia, LOL!
I'm a jealous man....I live in California in a condo... I'd be arrested if I tried this. I'd be in heaven-on-earth if I could set up a steel range in my yard and go tree-trimming hockok style;).
Hey that's usefull info if you're every out in the sticks and you brought your gun and forgot your hatchet and need you some firewood. One time we sawed through like a 9" oak tree with .22 rounds at my uncles lol it took like 1 and a half boxes. Sure it's a little pricey but hell if you're going to fire your weapon fire it for a reason, right?
I thoroughly enjoyed this piece of wisdom. Thanks alot my friend. People say how expensive it was. They just don't understand. I have shot way more than you did here shooting at targets like pop cans or jugs of water (just for the fun of shooting). This was very useful and fast too. Very nicely done!
@mw3fanatic Not really. He shot probably 5-10 bucks worth of ammo. If he had someone come in, they would charge $100-200, and if he fell off the ladder and broke his back, he'd be looking at 50,000 to 100,000 worth of hospital bills. Plus hes having fun.
Hey Hickok, what do you have in your arsenal...er, garage...that rakes and bags leaves? The wife says its gotta be done and I told her I would ask you what the proper tool is to accomplish that. ;-p
Seriously though, congratulations on your success here. It's well deserved. I'm a new shooter and just found your channel today. I've got a lot to catch up on here and look forward to watching and learning more. Thanks for sharing.
@Beamster420 , I am shooting up in the air. It's rare that you'd want to shoot up into the air with anything bigger than birdshot. It works well, too.
Waste of ammo - we have used shotguns occasionally to obtain enough clearance to work near transmission lines, but not for easy and low branches like this... now hitting them fifty or sixty feet up, that takes some aim ;)
Haha, my grandparents were in a pinch for a tree the day before Christmas so my little brother and I shot down some little evergreen tree for them to use with our 20ga shotguns... forgot what shot we used... probably 7&1/2.
Your right a lot faster that a hand saw, and you don't have to worry about dragging a ladder all around and working up a big sweat. very nice video. btw do you use low brass or is high brass a must? Thanks hickok45. Jet over and out
