  • Dude, you're hilarious. I will definitely keep this in mind for the next time I have trees that need trimming in an area where discharging firearms isn't prohibited. :D

  • wow if only I didn't live in a crowded neighborhood. This has to be 10x easier and 100x more fun than climbing ladders and sawing blahhh

  • Ey theres,a brach

  • Works well for getting kites out of trees too!

  • did you invent this technique Hickok? Good work!

  • worked pretty well Hickok. was faster than a saw . JKW

  • Raised on Road signs, onto trees now....

  • Question: can a shotgun hit your plates you shoot a lot with pistols without damaging them? All I've ever seen you shoot is slugs at the gong. Can a slug shoot the animals without damaging them?

  • @fishblade2 slugs do alot more damage than you think

  • All you need is a flame thrower (rake) to clean up the leaves and branches.

  • It would be hilarious if, as a tree branch was hitting the ground, a duck or other game bird would fall out of the sky.

  • classic, great video!!!

  • bought a gun, but he doesn't know for what! o, well, honey, i'm going to trim the trees, ok?! ooh, damn, now i'm still gonna need a machine gun to trim the hedge!!

  • even if i were deaf, i would know this is america...

  • #8 shot

  • what load is that?

  • you should clean up the fallen branches with a flamethrower

  • I use a Rugar 22

  • cant imagine someone tending the garden this way in europe...or elsewhere...

  • I thought the benely super 90 has a pistol grip ?

  • @predatortheme , It does; I switched out the stock; I don't like a pistol grip on a shotgun. Gets in the way.

  • @hickok45 trim it with your shotgun...

  • take that tree huggers

  • I know of a "SAW" that might be a bit faster ;]

  • I thought this was Tom Knapp. Sounds and looks quite a bit like him. And using a Benelli no less.

  • looks like alot of fun

  • i dont trim trees like that but i do get rid of bees nest like that u should make a video of that

  • I have shot some handguns before (M1911, P229, etc.) what is different about the feel for the gun between a revolver and handgun

  • how many people came after the radio show?

  • Thanks Hickok I found this thanks to your radio show hope you have a great fathers day :)

  • Have you exceeded the legal limit on branches in Tennessee?

  • thumbs up if you found about this video from hickok radio show

  • I wanna see you try to cut a good size tre with a shotgun.

  • Pretty efficient but expensive becaus the cost of shells

  • I can see it now, "Hickok45 tree trimming services"

  • hahaha i wanna see you shooting down a whole tree :D

  • trees every where siver when they hear your name + shotgun lol

  • The only problem I can see with using a Saiga shotgun for this chore is the magazine getting in the way. Too bad I'm inside the Oklahoma City metro or I'd borrow my bud's 12ga. for some trimming.

  • wow!! I'm amazed at how effective that thing was as a "tree trimmer"

  • Shotguns are perfect for trimming trees! It's a little bit expensive nowadays, but still pretty economical, especially when you compare it to going out and buying a polesaw or something like that - now those things are dangerous!

  • This video is reckless and utterly irresponsible. I approve and applaud.

  • u use a shot gun to take down tree.and u use a AK-47 as a wood chipper.haha.nice video.

  • Yess this is a better use of your shots :) thanks man ;)

  • what kinda shot gun is that, its a semiauto benneli? stogger?

  • L0L!

  • yeah just shoot straight up in the air..u wont get hit or anything

  • That is my kinda yard work. Love it.

  • i thought it was more of a joke but it actually really did work

  • @jackduup, It works great; I've been using this method for about 30 years.

  • @hickok45 ahaha , epic stuff .

  • @hickok45 This has got to be one of the coolest videos you have done yet Hickok. That is a great idea for trimming trees. Too bad I can't do that here in Commi-fornia, LOL!

  • @hickok45 isnt that... expensive?

  • @jackduup A lot of fun too !!!!

  • have a campfire, burn the tree branches

  • i hope you realized you killed a total of 12 birds

  • i bet this really pisses the hippies off haha stupid tree huggers.

  • that's surprisingly effective.

  • MANLY TRIMMING!

  • It's a new way to cut trees

  • I'm a jealous man....I live in California in a condo... I'd be arrested if I tried this. I'd be in heaven-on-earth if I could set up a steel range in my yard and go tree-trimming hockok style;).

  • Yo..45....... Is there anything you won't shoot? Good Video

  • LOL this is so classic hickock 45

  • is that a 12ga or 20ga or like 16 or 8 o nvm im figured out

  • is that a 12ga or 20ga or like 16 or 8

  • Do you have to use a block when hunting trees?

  • Hey that's usefull info if you're every out in the sticks and you brought your gun and forgot your hatchet and need you some firewood. One time we sawed through like a 9" oak tree with .22 rounds at my uncles lol it took like 1 and a half boxes. Sure it's a little pricey but hell if you're going to fire your weapon fire it for a reason, right?

  • Nice and effective. I personally would never shoot at such an angle, you never know where those rounds might end up.

  • @Dodo251 He's using bird shot, it'll end up about 150 yards "give or take" away from him on the ground with no force at all.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed this piece of wisdom. Thanks alot my friend. People say how expensive it was. They just don't understand. I have shot way more than you did here shooting at targets like pop cans or jugs of water (just for the fun of shooting). This was very useful and fast too. Very nicely done!

  • I would hate to be this guy's neighbor. He REALLY seems to like his guns.

  • i would hire you any day to come and touch up my property.

  • expensive tree trimming

  • @mw3fanatic Not really. He shot probably 5-10 bucks worth of ammo. If he had someone come in, they would charge $100-200, and if he fell off the ladder and broke his back, he'd be looking at 50,000 to 100,000 worth of hospital bills. Plus hes having fun.

  • I love it!

  • Thats once way to do it... in the suburban area will not work. But, would be fun to do thought.

  • Needs more booze

  • Remind me not to Piss you off.

  • I love when that little branch falls at 3:38 and he looks around ready to shoot the hell out of it.

  • Well if i didn't know any better, i'd say u look like me when im squirrel hunting LOL!

  • the lazies man on the planet

  • @the0master0chief yeah well when you get as old as him, i would like to see you start climbing ladders and hacking off branches...

  • Hey Hickok, what do you have in your arsenal...er, garage...that rakes and bags leaves? The wife says its gotta be done and I told her I would ask you what the proper tool is to accomplish that. ;-p

Seriously though, congratulations on your success here. It's well deserved. I'm a new shooter and just found your channel today. I've got a lot to catch up on here and look forward to watching and learning more. Thanks for sharing.

  • hahaha... Funny vid.

  • This could be the beginning of a whole new event in the Lumberjack Challenge.

  • isnt using that much amo expensive ?

  • @Ralphgtx280 he prolly shot off about 2 or 3 dollars worth of ammo in this vid. Less expensive than a ladder, a saw, and a medical bill :p

  • Are you using a Full choke?

  • @bigpoppa117 No, I think both my short shotguns are cylinder bore.

  • lol very cool way of doing the gardening

  • Boys and their guns...

  • Let me cut and you do the pulling

  • With tree trimming speed like that. You would make a killing in the property maintenance racket.

  • if you are doing this you probably think every branch is in the way :)

  • how many years have you been shooting? and whats the best way - in your opinion - to start someone on shooting?

  • @sixohseven607 , Mabye with a .22 LR. I've been shooting for almost 50 years.

  • My Dad really got a kick outa this!

  • Farm implement? Hey if you get your hands on a minigun, I'd like to see you do the rototilling!

  • A very instructive and efficient effort.

  • lol... god damn beautiful. that looks like a hell of a lot of fun.

  • i was waiting on a bird to fall

  • @Beamster420 , I am shooting up in the air. It's rare that you'd want to shoot up into the air with anything bigger than birdshot. It works well, too.

  • Waste of ammo - we have used shotguns occasionally to obtain enough clearance to work near transmission lines, but not for easy and low branches like this... now hitting them fifty or sixty feet up, that takes some aim ;)

  • @wentwirth , No ammo that one enjoys shooting is ever a waste!

  • @hickok45 No words have ever been more true

  • wtf i went to jail for trying this!!!!!!!!!!!! jk bad ass nice shooting good video

  • the american way to do your gardenwork :)

  • This would never work in LA! :)

  • This video made me laugh :D :D :D :D

  • wow now that is my way of tree triming the redneck way

  • Lynchburg, Tennessee??

  • ur neighbors are wondering if its hailing outside !!! lol. something keeps landing on their roof !!!

  • Well if you use #8 birshot, nobody would notice it, even if it landed on them.

  • Damn squirrels. lol.

  • awsome i love it. i wish i had som property next door so we could do some yard work LOL.

  • Good Job !! the trees look alot better!!

  • You should see how he splits his firewood!

  • C4 ? ..lol

  • that is hilarious!

  • Been there done that! Super Full turkey choke will get the high limbs!

  • You`re cracy, but i like it!!! :-)

  • lol, did you know in some places it is illegal to be able to put more than 3 shells in your shotgun?

hope u live in a decent state! lol

  • Only for hunting. There is no ban on shotgun capacities.

  • the best part is how effective it really is lol

  • i have 1 big tree in front of my yard...ill try that ...i hope my neighbors wont mind

  • "does the job, doesn't it?"

  • who`d of thought tree triming could be so easy and fun.

  • later u see 5 dead squirrels fall out of tree lol

  • What do u use for a wood chipper???

  • a glock in both hands

  • @derek420666

    10 Gauge?

  • @derek420666 browning 1919 lol

  • oh..so funny your videos

    Shotgun for all Gardener!

    you are very great!!!!!!!

  • pretty expensive way for trimming trees

  • hahaha!! love your videos!

  • most interesting yet efficient way to trim a tree

  • watch out for those monkeys

  • i aim for the ones on the porch.

  • Thats how I did it when I needed to trim around my backyard skeet shooting range! works great!

  • a lot faster than a saw!...haha great!

  • i cant beleave it actculy works

  • haha legend.....

its actually not a bad idea!

  • i wish i had that prob iwish i could shoot on my proprety i wish i had a farm

  • wt.......wtf

  • My dude used one of those to get pinecones.

Ain't you worried about leaving open entryways for desease though?

  • Genius, a new marketing ploy for shotgun manufacturers!

  • ha ha ha, that was awsome, i can't believe how well it worked.

  • awsome guy

  • Haha, my grandparents were in a pinch for a tree the day before Christmas so my little brother and I shot down some little evergreen tree for them to use with our 20ga shotguns... forgot what shot we used... probably 7&1/2.

  • I love such videos! And the "lawn mower repair"!!!

  • I just saw him talking about this on his shotgun vid and here he is doing it, redneck tree trimming... hahaha, I love it!

  • this guy is cool as hell!

  • I wonder where the excess of pellets drop at, and if it would have enough punch to hurt people/ break glass.

  • its 8 shot... ive been hit by 8 shot while hunting before, the guy that shot was about 60 yards away, it felt like heavy rain drops...

  • But it looks so fun lol

  • How much do those bullets cost? It seems like a waste of ammo.

  • shoots a bunch of tiny lead pellets out of a "shell" so its not really a bullet. also you can get like 100 rounds for around 20 bucks.

best bang for your buck so to speak ;)

  • i think its lil cheeper at wal-mart u can get 100 shots and 96 clays for under 20$

  • will a 20 guade work ?

  • Probably would. I don't have a 20 gauge.

  • Now that's a salad shooter.

  • I find this much faster and safer than saws and ladders. BTW Hickok I used some 00 buck shot and took down a 3" monster branch. Keep shootin!

  • hahaha thats great! i wish i could trim my trees like that. i don't think my neighbors would be too thrilled though

  • Why not? you were just setting off firecrackers right?........Right!

  • lol more like setting off a bomb, 12 gauges got BOOM not POP

  • LOL Great video!!! Too funny.

    Redneck tree trimming? LOL

  • Your right a lot faster that a hand saw, and you don't have to worry about dragging a ladder all around and working up a big sweat. very nice video. btw do you use low brass or is high brass a must? Thanks hickok45. Jet over and out

  • Low brass field loads (7 1/2 and 8 shot works well). High brass WOULD get expensive.

  • Line ad at the bottom of vid: 'Tree service estimates'.....

  • That's too funny! :-)

  • any good for bonsai trees?

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Mr. Miyagi from Karate Kid would NOT approve of that method.

  • what gun is that... i see its a semi auto. how reliable is it?
