to fix this all you have to do is, xclamp fix your heat sinks, add more sliver compond, overheat your xbox (wrap in a towl until you dont hear it running) unwrap, plug everything in and play.....to test it out i played GTA IV for 4 hrs straight and my xbox ran like a charm, also it will help out ALOT if you change the fan speed, instead of 5v make them push 12v (by default the xbox 360 fan is 12v max but running on 5v) this is why most people get the RROD. Team Hybrid's xclamp fix is great!!!
@xT3chSlayeRx I took mine apart.. applied some arctic silver compound.. put it back together.. and now it won't even heat up.. it just 3 lights and then the fan cuts off.. i think it would work if i got it to overheat but i can't. what do i do.

Ok, everyone here bitching about systems- Shutup. Both systems have good and bad traits, same with any other system. For example, the Xbox is prone to gay crap like this because microcock was retarded, but the Xbox has very good online features and has good compatibility with the computer. The PS3's online is sort of bland, with a chatroom that looks/feels like an interrigation room, but online is free and has Blu-Ray.

I've had my 360 for over 4 years now, and I've just recently had to fix the RRoD, I took the whole unit apart, removed those horrid X clamps, took off the heatsinks and cleaned the CPU/GPU, and reapplied new thermal paste. Its been running like a champ for weeks now.

okay well i got the e 74 today and was pretty bummed so ive just been lettin it cool down, and i truned it back on wihtout the a/v cable in it and no red light, but when i lug in a/v cable i get 3 74 again wtf- any suggestions?
This video is garbage. nothing is shown besides you turning it on twice. The way to fix e74 error is easy and it will never fail again (e74 anyway). You need to change out the X Clamps that MS foolishly uses and replace them with [4] 10mm M5 bolts, [8] metal washers, and [8] plastic washers. You're basically securing the heat sink to the GPU. Thats why you get E74, the Video processor heats up because the heatsink pulls away from the GPU due to faulty clamps that hold the heatsink in place.
I replace x clamp and add thermal compound and it work for two days but the error e74 is again... reapply thermal compound and nothing still have the error...

Wow that worked for me too for about a minute. Then the screen turned pretty colors again. Turned it off then the error was back. It use to have rrod. That's what you do to fix the rrod problem.

Try tightening the screws on the heat sinks. If that doesnt work take the heat sinks off and check how much paste you used. Its possible you used to much.
dude i did this and it worked but now i get two red lights in like 30 secs after i start a game , i can keep it on the dash board and its fine but try 2 play a game and 2 red light

it was 600 bucks when it first came out. I must admit that the PS3 is better at staying intact but the xbox is just a better console. With all the downloads that ps3 doesnt have and a lot of games PS3 doesnt have... It is just better. The controllers are way more comfortable too. Even my friends who have PS3's admit to this. One of them has an xbox AND PS3 but he is always on the sexbox instead of PS3.
look the easyest way 2 fix your xbox frm e72 with out taking it apart is leavein it on over night then in the moring turn it off 4 35 min nxt 2 an open windoe 2 cool down ...it might take a couple ov times turning it on 2 work but i done it and it work perfect

temporary fix: jam sum sticks(your choice) as long as they dont brake, into the back of ur shitbox. then turn on 4 5 mions so the fan cant move. open dic tray. close disc tray. restart. might not work first time but i keep doing it and u get like 3-10 hours of playtime :) it workd 4 me.

No mate.. this is just to simulate the fix for this problem. When you press the heatsink well enough, the heat is dissipated well. This is called x-clamp fix and it's further shown in the Xbox Repair guide on my website. you use this method once and do it right, you fix it for a long time.

don't forget to replace the heat absorbing pads on the bottom of the board with 2 pennies wrapped in electrical tape. (better heat dissipation than those cheap rubber shit-bags) Only careful how much you tighten down the board afterwards...cracks are bad, mmmkay.

So if you have not opened your XBOX 360, call them to get it fixed for FREE!
this fix simulates the x-clamp fix. The idea is to tighten the contact between the heatsink and GPU/CPU, so that the heat dissipation happens well. The proper X-clamp fix is shown if you get the Repair Guide at my website.
Microsoft might cover this error in their warranty, but I rather fix things myself compared to waiting 6 weeks and getting the error to pop up again.
You need to remove those ugly X-clamps to fix this and Microsoft does not do that!!

if theres no warranty open the bitch up take off ur heat sinks and go to and computer electronics store get sum silver thermal paste and put new thermal paste on go to home depot or a hard ware store gut 8 lock washers 8 regular washers 16 fiber washers 8 10 32 3/5 bolts ad put that bitch back together it should work fine and dont buy the damn online kits there too expensive you can get ll this fr around 15 bucks thermal was10 screws were 98 cents watchers about the same

Try tightening the screws on the heat sinks. If that doesnt work take the heat sinks off and check how much paste you used. Its possible you used to much.

my brothers xbox 360 got the three red rings of death and i could not get a hold of anyone when i did talk to somebody they hung up on me xbox customer service sucks my ps3's bluray eye broke i called somebody answered i told them where i lived they sent me a box i put my ps3 in got it back working fine

it was 600 bucks when it first came out. I must admit that the PS3 is better at staying intact but the xbox is just a better console. With all the downloads that ps3 doesnt have and a lot of games PS3 doesnt have... It is just better. The controllers are way more comfortable too. Even my friends who have PS3's admit to this. One of them has an xbox AND PS3 but he is always on the sexbox instead of PS3.

just tighten those heatsink to the mobo with washers. Make sure the pressure is uniform and not too tight

temporary fix: jam sum sticks(your choice) as long as they dont brake, into the back of ur shitbox. then turn on 4 5 mions so the fan cant move. open dic tray. close disc tray. restart. might not work first time but i keep doing it and u get like 3-10 hours of playtime :) it workd 4 me.

No mate.. this is just to simulate the fix for this problem. When you press the heatsink well enough, the heat is dissipated well. This is called x-clamp fix and it's further shown in the Xbox Repair guide on my website. you use this method once and do it right, you fix it for a long time.

don't forget to replace the heat absorbing pads on the bottom of the board with 2 pennies wrapped in electrical tape. (better heat dissipation than those cheap rubber shit-bags) Only careful how much you tighten down the board afterwards...cracks are bad, mmmkay.

this fix simulates the x-clamp fix. The idea is to tighten the contact between the heatsink and GPU/CPU, so that the heat dissipation happens well. The proper X-clamp fix is shown if you get the Repair Guide at my website.
Microsoft might cover this error in their warranty, but I rather fix things myself compared to waiting 6 weeks and getting the error to pop up again.
You need to remove those ugly X-clamps to fix this and Microsoft does not do that!!
