the power mat is completely pointless. you can only has far away as the power mat's cord allows. Ultimately its just a cooler charger, this is useless until they make it so that they can send electricity through the air.

i agree it is not very useful, but it shows us that we are that closer to completely wireless power, all you do is plug an adapter in the wall and you could walk around the room, still charging, (eventually)

It truly is cool and revolutionery, but I ain't gonna get me one before it's FULLY wireless. Now you need a dockingstation or some kind of reciever wich mean you might aswell use a regular cord. But this is just the beginning. Byt 2010 I'm sure that these things has a range of like 10 meters and dont need any kind of reciever.

Remember, this is the prototype. In a few months, not even a year, they'll be able to send the power directly to the device without any reciver like I said, and still not waste any power (atleast not too much)...And THEN, if you look a little bit further: The might manage to take 100 % power, but get the performance or duration of 120 % aso... :D

Powermat? Oh yeah much more useful than a normal adapter... You only need to buy a different type of casing for every device you wanna charge with it and take all of them with you wherever you take your portable devices to. A better solution? Make every portable device chargeable with a simple standard USB cable.
