But white people don't experience the stigma that comes with the term. They don't know the hurt associated with the word. They weren't oppressed by it. Booker T. Washington was telling this to black folk back in 1880 (mostly newly freed slaves at the time). His told blacks to focus on: Industry Thrift, Intelligence, Property.
All blacks should read Booker T.'s bio "Up From Slavery." His teaching were utterly prophetic. He said that if blacks choose NOT to follow these tenets, they will always be on the socioeconomic bottom--white racism or not. Of course, blacks largely chose to ignore him. You know, "he's and Uncle Tom and shit."
