This was back when even cheap cars were built with quality. It's amazing a car virtually unchanged for thirty years was still modern. VW probably laughed at the gas crisis.

The English spec bugs probably look a little bit different. One of these days I'll raise the front of my bug like they did here (and on the other ad) at a car show and drop it just to demonstrate that even if a cars +30 years old you should hang on to it, no ridicoulously bad pun intended :D.
