DDhad a large following of female fans called Duranis that were into their looks and bands like DDdid alot of photoshoots and were considered glamorous by the media. I would say that it's not Duran Duran in particular but rather a general hate of style over substance

Because I can imagine back then people being skeptical of the band. But looking back, there's nothing manufactured about Nirvana's sound. The closest thing to that would be the production of Nevermind, which was very polished for a punk record.

However, he has no right to call anyone else a ploy to make punk manufacturable, considering what the Sex Pistols were. Great band, but manufactured nontheless.
