I think you're right about Simone's version having this driving, running feeling. However I think it actually adds to song. It shows that even though it is pointless to keep running, he still just runs as a last ditch effort for hope or salvation, making it even more "tragic". But that's just my opinion.

No actually i'm more of a Black Metal fan. But off course i listen to other things as well. Mostly DHG, Shining, Keep Of Kalessin, <code>, Mayhem, and alot of classical. And when i said sinister i wasn't thinking of this song in particular, but 16hp in general. The music has an "evil" touch to it, and what could possibly be more evil than christianity? You just have to look for the right thing in the music, if you are looking for darkness you will find darkness..
