  • its the AUSSIE KEVIN SMITH

  • What was the podcast that you were listening to when you had a rest?

  • fruit themed tablet? WTF?!?! (btw plz excuse me from my stupidity....)

  • @Blunty3000 Why Twitter appear in a mobile version instead of the full desktop version. Rim mentioned "uncompromised browsing experience" didn't they?

  • thumbs up for coke!! I love coke

  • Not sure if others have said this but thank you for showing us what real world mobile internet computing is like! Sometimes its frustrating having everything in the cloud. Great demo

  • Blunty, how are you getting internet access? Tether through iPhone or BB?

  • looool

  • it wasnt just a can of coke that made him happy xD

  • wait... trains have buffets? i need to visit Australia for they have truly awesome trains

  • wait until you get your hands on the HP Palm Web OS Blunty. Have you ever fiddled around with the Palm Web OS at all before,or any Palm OS?

  • After watching the first part, i happened to be at office max, and saw the play book... now there's an ipad in my family, and i do enjoy using it, but i have to say.. i enjoyed the experience a lot! It was small and sleek, felt great in hand, had an intuitive OS, just worked amazingly, and i don't like the other smaller tablets... this is the only one that i'd consider so far in comparison to all other tablets, not just apple, or moto xoom, or galaxy w/e this is near top easily

  • lol

    L

  • And how many app it has BTW?

  • L!

  • Believe me Blunty we already knew what we were talking about just plotting... Mehehe

  • That looks cool but i have a question, will it blend?

  • Poor Blunty. Ginger beer=happy belly. XD

  • Next video pleas !!

  • 3 of the 12 people referred to have internet access...

  • Blunty, what does your shirt mean?

  • blunty is such a derpest

  • @WhyDoWeAllCare One must herp before one can derp. HUUURRRRRRRRR

  • That playbook looks really nice to hold

  • the iPad 2 as better microphones though, with for me as an Audio geek is more important

  • @PAPO1990 Its the way the audio is automatically processed that's the difference, the iPad, by dafault and with no way to turn it off, uses automatic noise cancellation (which is why the levels are MUCH lower), the PlayBook does not... as an "audio geek" I'd have thought you'd want a signal as free from automatic processing as possible so, if you need to, you can do it yourself manually and MUCH more accurately.

  • @Blunty3000 well I could only go by what I was hearing on the video, I don't have an iPad, but when all is said and done, I'd avoid using devices like these for audio video at all anyway, I've never liked the idea of holding up something the size of a tablet for photo or video

  • @PAPO1990 As an audio geek, you should have done your homework...lol

  • @PAPO1990 if you're really such an audio geek you can just hook up a proper microphone :)

  • @realtoyz13 I would, and I do, but I don't always have my $500 condenser mic, with shock mount stand and pop shield on me, when I'm at home I'll use my NT1-A with my M-Box 2 Pro, and a real camera, but here this would be in case of an un expected recording or when I am unexpectedly struck by inspiration

  • every time i see the name of this tablet, i cant help but think of a certain gentlemens magazine...

  • @hazworther maybe Heff is gonna get this tablet with a nice bunny engraved in the back

  • Bundaberg Ginger Beer <3

  • Ooh, very interesting.

Will we be getting a direct comparison between the cameras in this and the iPhone 4 at all?

  • OMG! This is so SOLD OUT to me! Features are fantastic, user interface is awesome, practicality of the Playbook is so smack in the middle.

  • are you the only one on the train?

  • @Blunty3000 Hey, does it do Java? That would be nice.

  • OMG Death Note's L/Ryuuzaki ftw!

  • Such a cool L figure :D

  • Prime Beef Meat Pie! HELL YEAH! :)

  • Fist off, I have an ipad gen 1. However, I run a galaxy s 2 phone. And well, to be honest, I'm getting a little frustrated at the limitation on apple devices. I have drop box sitting there with every file available at my finger tips, I have multitasking, I have a flash enabled browser with tabs.

Yet, I'm constantly reminded of the limitations of my iPad. Apple need to realise this, or they'll lose a market share. I admit they have the best market, but they don't have the best interactive.

  • @bertamon

I just found this Blunty guy, when he reviewed the Galaxy Tab, and he struck me as honest, and truthful....BlackBerry is still paying hush hush money. Don't get me wrong I love my Playbook....for what it WILL be, but isn't yet. two updates, and still no spell check/correct. a bunch of useless apps, and he said pretty non eventfully, a THIRD PARTY FILE BROWSER, I've bought two file browsers already. For someone who "isn't into the Blackberry scene" you got the new Torch,

  • Flash aaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @joevictor53 He'll save every-one-of-us!!!

  • @Blunty3000 Queen FTW! Awesome Commercial. such dig to that fruit company with "i" infront of most of it's products.

Shame that the thing is SO expensive and that my mobile provider does not have unlimited data. The one that's connected to that fruit company here in the US.

  • @Blunty3000 And Great Review.

  • Any USB ports? Can it run Linux?

  • Does it have a mechanism so that you can use it laying on your side, like a screen lock maybe?

  • @josephrockz4 Yup, right in the status bar with the battery info etc.

  • You've sold this device to me.. I've wanted to get an iPad 2 for quite some time, but this just looks better and the more compact form factor seems perfect for everything. Yes some may say the bigger screen on iPad is better, but when the web works, video works and gaming works then you don't need much bigger than 7".

  • I was really hesitant about getting a playbook, or even considering it, but after watching your review on this product I REALLY want one! Loll

  • Good review but Blackberry turning the ship around? Guess you haven't seen the latest set of results then. Feel sorry for the people losing their jobs but Blackberry is heading in the same direction as Nokia.

  • What Telco were you using Blunty during your trip?

  • @rammstein989 The BlackBerry Torchnwas on Voda, my iPhone was on Telstra.

  • @Blunty3000 Cheers

  • I thought I was the only one who got sick on long train trips! God, Adelaide to Melbourne was a bitch, never doing that again.

  • So whats the physical hardware specs of the device as well as the type of OS?

  • Finally, a more positive review of the playbook (so far at-least...) Excellent work as usual, Blunty. I still don't get why so many tech bloggers and review sites seem to dislike this device, even to the point of criticizing small details like the power button. From what I've seen when demoing this tablet, it's a really good piece of hardware/software!

  • L! <3

  • Any plans on reviewing the torch? I know you got one from RIM to test the bridge software. :)

  • Guess who I saw at Supanova today? :D

  • Can you edit video on the playbook, like iMovie on the iPad....?

  • Comment removed

  • good job blunty

  • I don't see why anyone would care.... The quality of these videos have dropped. I'm not talking about the review.

  • looking at a screen while travelling = vom vom

  • I so want to get my hands on one for a try before I buy.

  • @evilutionist Always a wise plan.

  • @evilutionist Always a wise plan.

  • I'd been thinking about getting an iPad 2, but after seeing these videos about the Blackberry Playbook and doing some research on my own, I just might have to get one of those instead. I already have an iPod Touch 4, why not change it up?

  • My God Blunty what phone provider do you use, even in a perfect area my connection is not that fast, iphone using hotspot.

  • Gadnet Ninja.

  • *looking

typing one handed while holding a baby can be challenging lol

  • Great review Blunty :) The cameras are a big seller, at least compared to the competition. I like that the playbook seems small but mighty. Looming forward to part 3 ;)

p.s. I loved how you put L in the video :P

  • how much did they pay you to say the playbook is better than the iPad

  • Hey Blunty I was just wondering what camera you used for this video

thanx mate nice vids by the way :)

  • How much is it in Aus?

  • What's a "gadnet"?

  • When you mentioned that you liked the BlackBerry PlayBook's OS slightly better than the iPad's will that opinion change (do you think) with iOS5?

I am staggered that they can get 1080p video recording from 3MP!? I don't know how that works, but it does!

The PlayBook certainly gives the competition (especially another fruit-brand) a thing or two to think about! Which can only be better for us consumers.

I eagerly look forward to part 3, and if I had the money, I'd buy a PlayBook now.

  • @MADMANx511 Megapixels have nothing to do with resolution.

  • @Harlei3 I know that. I still find it staggering that it can be done, even though I know it can be.

  • @Harlei3 false.

  • @WinterXL The original Canon 1D had a 4 megapixel sensor and produced 2464 x 1648 sized photos.

  • @MADMANx511 Any and all opinions should be open to change. But of all the very cool things iOS5 will do and enhance, the general look and feel of the UI isn't one of them... So I'll still consider the user interface a nicer experience on the PlayBook.

  • @MADMANx511 1080p is actually a very low resolution in cameras. 3MP = 3 million pixels. 1080p = 2 million pixels.

  • Very nice review, you are the top gear of tech reviews, :)

  • damm the mic on the blackberry pad is horrid

  • @HarithBK | Blunty has been spoiling your ears with crisp clear external mic's. No shit the Playbook's built-in mic would sound bad

  • the iPad has better ambient noise reduction though

  • I like trains.

  • @Blunty3000 I read a review in MaximumPC on this tablet and they said it sucked, mostly because it had no useful applications and was very buggy. Have apps been enabled now? or even android apps that were rumored to have been enabled on this tablet?

  • @ 0:58 you don't lay down, you lie down :-P loving the videos as always.

  • NOTICED THAT THERE IS A LOT OF ROLLING SHUTTER ON THE VIDEOS BUT GOOD QUALITY COLOUR LOL IS THE SHUTTER WORSE BECAUSE OF THE LIGHTING CONDITIONS OR WHATNOT?

(SORRY ABOUT THE CAPPS MY MAC IS ONLY LETTING ME TYPE IN CAPPS FOR SOME STUPID REASON ATM SORRY)

  • So tell me what is one useful thing about a tablet rather than a phone or laptop?

  • @babayaga20000 Dude, if you haven't figure out on your own why Tablet devices have become so popular by now... a couple YEARS after they started to really take off, there's really no "telling" you anything, just go hide in a cave somewhere till it's all over.

  • @Blunty3000 I rlly love technology but i must agree with babayaga...i dont see one usefull side of tablets???maybe couse they are small and stuff like that they became so popular....maybe its just me because i evaluate hardware by its power and in that segment any laptop outpowers any tablet

    sry for my english

  • @Blunty3000 Yet another brutal attack at the very people that make you popular

  • @halo3guyy this is nothing new.

  • @Blunty3000 OOOO... thts a harsh reply....well this is the Blunty i know!

    keep rocking!!

  • @Blunty3000 LOOOL

  • @babayaga20000 have to agree with you, here. i can't understand the need for them.

  • why is L from death note doing there ?????

  • @Animefan4ever5 Because I was testing the camera in various conditions, please do me the minor favor of y'know, paying attention.

  • @Blunty3000 i was paying attention it just got me off gaurd cause i have the same figure :)

  • Too bad the Blackberry stock just dropped 15% due to poor sales...

  • @Lessaj7 Funny thing... I don't look to the "stock price" fluctuating to tell me anything at all about a mobile device, it's qualities, abilities, use case or value... anyone who does is a bit of an idiot IMHO ;P

  • @Blunty3000 Don't get me wrong, I don't either. It looks like a wonderful device. I'm just pointing out that it's too bad that their stock went down even though they're still a strong company. Everyone sees "oh, poor sales" and freaks out. It's like relax people, your sales can't be perpetually increasing. They go up and down.

  • @Lessaj7 To be fair, the "poor sales" assumed as the cause of the drop were all pointed at a couple recent mobiles, and even then not because of a lack of quality but because they weren't "exciting" (?)... in fact I saw RIM announce they've already sold half a MILLION PlayBooks and it hasn't even finished a world-wide rollout yet. I'd say those sales are pretty decent.

  • SPELLING FAYUL ON PURPOSE

  • ITS L!

  • Blackberry phones are really over popular here in the UK, well at least here in London. Nearly every school kid has one. It's very annoying.

  • @chaziboy Half of them don't know how to use them ... they only buy them for BBM. I say get an iPhone with unlimited texts .... Better experiance.

  • @chaziboy i concur

  • Love the product placement at 2:27 ;)

  • @VindalooProductions Nah, if it was product placement I'd have carefully arranged the brand on the can to camera, and drunk out of it sideways to show the brand in correct orientation ;P

  • Awesome video I hate trains

  • Your awsome <3

  • I really think this could rival the Ipad if RIM market the product well enough

  • blunty <3
