  • Coast Guard Basic Training was the hardest thing ever in my life and I completed that 20 years ago. Nothing has compared to it since. I still remember Senior Chief Ronaghan yelling in my face because my belt buckle wasn't shiny enough to see his reflection. Anything after that has been a breeze...

  • The Coast Guard is a really bunch of great guya & ladies who put thier lifes on the line at any given moment, that'why I have true Respect for how they also protect all of

our waters in this good old USA.While I was in the ARMY some 19 yrs.I had the priviledge to work side by side with some of them. You better believe I truly trust them. They deservealot of HONOR for what they do.Catch61pl

  • roughneck205. sure you can do drug interdiction, but only after you've cleaned a few toilets, and painted a few hulls. LOL I spent 8 1/2 year on the Guard, and had a blast, but you will have to prove yourself, and suck some major dick to get where you want. It is VERY political. Just make sure you make forward progress on you promotions, and don't stand still long, or they will kick you out the first chance they get on performance points.

  • MARINE CORPS ! UH RAAH ! SEMPA FI DO OR DIE

  • GO COASTIES w00t

  • I'll be joining USCG in the coming year. Trained all my life for a career in policework but there's no money for new hires in California. I've been told CG can provide the closest comparable experience to law enforcement of all the branch services. Looking forward to drug interdiction.

  • Okay, if you work in the coastguard, please please message me, I'm thirteen but I've wanted to join since I was nine, I know this is what I want to do when I'm older, but I have a ton of questions, so please message me, I appreciate the help.

  • If you mute this video and play Fort Minor's "Remember the Name" with this, it goes perfectly and looks really cool. USCG is awesome and I'm probably enlisting in three years when I'm 18 and going for the new ME rating!

  • coast guard hell yae its goin to be the best when im a coastie

  • USCG way to go, cant wait to ship january 1, 2010

  • I can't wait to become a Coastie! USCG!

  • im 12 and ive been wanting to be in the coast guard for 5 years.i love uscg

  • I'm trying to join. But getting a recruiter on the phone is ridiculous.

  • lol i guess i lucked out cuz my uncles an E7

  • um Veehoda you do know the USCG is backed up right? your best chance is to try in the spring time.

  • Is that right Dogmeat7? Hmmm.. (seriously)

  • looks like a fun job

  • Coast guard rocks! (I'm not bashing on the other branches, though) I'm joining CG in a few months.

  • AF2oo7 don't go knocking on the Marines there is many coasty's an Marines that died on the same landing craft together. personly if I wasn't joining the Marines I would join the USCG. they got kick ass leadebt teams. :)

  • ledet* teams

    ( law enforcement detachments )

  • what are the coast guard doing on land?..in iraq?..are there many on iraq soil or mostly protecting oil rigs?

  • They're mostly Port Security Units. They sweep berths and inspect vessels for IEDs and the like. I think they're training the Iraqi navy (which is like six 25' patrol boats).

They're pretty much just badass cops.

  • yeah i dont know of any cops that have 50 cal guns on there cars.

  • Awsome

  • coasties are amazing. they save lifes, bust drug smugglers, all kinds of things. my dad was an engineering officer when he was in the coast guard. he's retired now but he is still a coastie til the day he dies. GO COAST GUARD!!! HOORAH!!!

  • marines.....aka....bullet catchers

  • GO COASTIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • anyone taking crap about the uscg go to cape may, and tell that to the cc's in their face, good luck!

  • I second that.

  • hell ya, i went to cape may for a walk through, i might join, and it was sick, i camped there with my troop once too, and the cadets woke us up at 5 in the morining with there cadences, they looked like they were in BUDS class, thats how sick nasty cape may is

  • this is old. This is part of Thad Allens Mission statement.

  • manyakis666- Yes join the marines. First one to bite the dust! No all joking aside are you in the military?

  • You won't think the Coast Guard is so "ghey" when they are saving your sorry ass when you are up a creek without a paddle. I'll say it like I said it when I was in. The rest of the branches train for things that may happen... the Coast Guard trains for things that happens everday day!!! SEMPER PARATUS!!!....no disrespect to the other branches but I am tired of the C.G. getting treated like a freakin step child.

  • hellz yeah!!!

  • Join the Marines if you want to serve 4 years and have a nice case of post traumatic stress disorder and wake up every night the rest of your life in sweats. Join the US Coast Guard if you want to save lives and make a career out of your service. SEMPER PARATUS!!

  • dont forget if you want to lose any intelligent you have you would join the marines.

  • Yeah no kidding! I did over 20 years with the Coast Guard, retired young with a great pension, free VA medical care, and young enough to do another career out in the world! But you know what? If I had to do it all over again? I'd do it again in the Coast Guard!!!

  • I'm joining the Coast Gaurd!

  • man goodluck

  • Coasties ROCK!!! Great video!

  • Hey man, all the branches are on the same team here, defending the same nation, the same constitution, and the same people. So why can't the Coast Guard get the same HONOR and RESPECT they diserve!

  • exactely. I don't understand why the coast guard doesn't get honored like all the other branches. You hardly ever hear anything about them. I'm going to meps in 2 days...wish me luck :)

  • good luck i hope to join

  • because they are cops and not military

  • That's why U.S. Code says they are military, right?

  • Homeland security

  • They are an armed service, so they are part of the military, though in peacetime they are part of the Department of Homeland Security. In wartime they can be transfered over to the Department of Defense.

  • although i respect the marines the most, mainly because of them being on the front lines in the war...you should look up the facts of exactly what Coasties do before you call them "ghey".

  • hell remember that when you over turn a boat or drownin or lost out in the woods and u think the marines is going to defend the nation??

  • first of all manyakis the marines and the coast guard get along real fine. the only one gay is you by bashing one branch against the other! what the hell is wrong with you, if your ever out there in the sea remember NOT to call the coast guard! I like the idea of saving lives than taking lives, so keep that in mind.

  • pag xore oi

  • Not bad. What is the music and artist? Love those coasties!! LCDR J. Linder USNR

  • not to offend or anything, but why so many effing abbreviations? not on your post but in all the military stuff.

  • the reason we do it is because alot of the titles are really long. We get tired of it sometimes. But do it so you don't understand. Why would we want the public to know what a HIV is or Eta or TA.

  • I'll tell what they are:

    LCDR: Lieutenant Commander

    USNR: United States Naval Reserve

The reason there are acrynoms for everything is because the real names are sometimes just too damn long to say in one sentence.

  • totally awesome!
