  • I remember this track when i was a little kid.. I always thought we were going to get hit by the train when it was coming down then street.

  • What year was this?

  • awesome street running!!

  • miss them old conrails..

  • Just curious, obviously the rail line was there before that street, but why build a street over the rail line? Last time I saw anything even close to that was in my home town of Northam, Western Australia. Back in the 30s, there was pretty much a rail yard down the middle of town. One spur line went straight through a hardware store's yard, into the bowels of a flour mill. Now, at much expense, all freight enters and leaves by road train

  • min 4:40 long live the no left turn signals, I work for the museum that now owns the ones in your video and we just got the one all wired up and running how ever I see it needs to be a tad brighter this video helps thank you.

  • Are you a ELA teacher or somthing?

  • When me and my uncle did that before the tracks got torn up, we would wait at International Bakery until we herd a locomotive horn.

  • "When me and my uncle"? Miss elementary school, trains?

    Or is 46 your IQ?

Starting at :45, what is the blinking light?

Oh, now we see the light and (NO LEFT TURN) lamp. Wish you had shown the signals turn on and turn off.

Video near grade crossings to capture horn and crossing signal activations and bells and lights and also any mishaps.

Sorry that they took up the track.

  • wow its been a while since i saw them tracks, i remember i use to grab the ladder on the last part of the train and let it pull me down the street on my bike

  • Wasn't the lead locomotive on the last train a former southern railroad locomotive?

  • Great video, Mark! Great Nathan K5LAR24 horn on D9-40C "Tophat" 8807!

  • Love it, I really like the jeep driving on the wrong side of the road. (No Patience)

  • @vettebecker I caught a guy driving the wrong way on 4th Ave here in Pine Bluff,AR and going around the gate a block over on video.

  • We still have a short stretch in New Albany on the former Monon but sadly nothing runs on it except the local to the Pillsbury plant on weekdays. It runs about 7 blocks down 15th Street and is currently being repaved.

  • Thats soo weird how it looks like its just driving down the road! RUNAWAY TRAIN! LOL

  • At 3:53, imagine driving down the street and seeing that coming at you! Talk about sharing the road, very cool though, here in Michigan we don't have any street running like that. The closest thing we have to street running is in Monroe where the NS line runs between the sidewalk and the road, I have heard talks about it being removed but I don't know how acurate this is. 5 stars BTW.

  • ya imagine if it were going 70mph from that far at u!!!

  • Excellent video. I've never seen street running in person. 5 Stars!

  • It was probably more useful in the day of penn central passenger trains

  • Lol, I'll bet alot of kids used to catch that one for a ride.

  • One of the many reasons the railroad relocated the mainline, grade crossing and pedestrian accidents.

  • @markjl261

So the railroad track that train was on was removed? CORRECT!

  • Conrail had alot of Dash 7

  • Wow! Alot of trains go thru, thats cool..

  • Where is 19th Street At? In Oakland?

  • Erie, PA

  • excellent footage.

  • wow nice vid i remember seeing ns trains roll thru there now its all gone.

  • wtf... kids , dont cross the street when a huge train is comming...

  • when you live around the train tracks you dont even hear them.

  • That is an awesome video- Seriously, how cool is that to look out your frontroom window and see a freight train (or any train for that matter) comming down your street... It's not like it's going to derail or anything it's going what- about 30 MPH, if even that?

  • Ok why does he let his kid cross the tracks when a train is like not too far away?! Kind of retarted in his part.

  • AWESOME VIDEO
