I've heard, for those that are curious, that it's supposed to be set around the time that Japan was getting some influence from outside but was still mostly a closed nation that retained a lot of its old ways, or so some of the author's notes and extras in the manga say.

There are so many moshi that it's a wonder how so little people are able to see them.

And with so many dangerous types I wonder how many people die by moshi and don't even know.

But, it is the feudal era so I guess whole villages can be destroyed without a second glance.

Ginko isn't neccesarily some cranky old dude that takes pain killers and takes the most drastic, stuck-up, go fck-urself measures to get things done

he's very calm, very collected, and always chooses the most sensible answer that he can find

he treads the middle ground, between mushi and humans and is not drastic in any means

in fact that's what it means to be a good mushi master, to go around healing without throwing things off balance

well the characters look the same because the director/artist wanted to create the scene to be much more realistic

IE. there are no crazy purple, green or red haired people in feudal Japan
