  • I really feel that you at 5 days, help me make the decision to do lap band. I was happy to see you doing better at 4 weeks. going to check your 1 year and half video.

  • Sweetie, fat isn't like herion at all. When junkies run out, it's gone...fat is still there. Can you run from food..yes but eventually ya catch it. You don't have to have herion to live but you do need food. Plus, most corner stores don't advertise herion.

  • how is it that you put weight on after the surgery I thought your suppose to keep it off after surgery how does this happen?

  • @debz12180 it's a loooooong ass story. Check out my blog TheSkinnyOnline (google it or Google Lisa's Life Lessons). Diets don't work long term not even if they're surgically induced. One must be healthy before one can take off weight and keep it off not the other way around. You are welcome to email me privately.

  • thanks

  • I will be having a Gastric Bypass in 9 days time I have already lost 25kgs before my Surgery. I'm soooo looking forward to being lighter and having more energy. I'm really happy that it worked for You. How much weight have You lost so far Lisa ????

  • i know the feeling , i was pissed off at the world, i was ,mad at everyone who ever called me fat, i blamed them all for me going through surgery,. i got mad at my husband for eating pizza in front of me..but then after i am out now for 2 months, i have gotten better with everything and accepted it....lol i think you are gonna go crazy with all those cats!!!!! dont listen to anyone about exercising, just do what you have to, you know whats right.

  • this is how I felt I just didn't care anymore for like the first month. I didn't care if I lived or died. The one thing I kept hearing was push harder push yourself and I wanted to scream everytime I heard it. It's soooo hard much more then anyone knows unless you have been here with us.

  • ur cats are cute

  • OMG!! Glad to see that you can enjoy your life and continued pouring your love and attention to your cute kitty.

  • Congrats on your surgery, it's really great you're goin through with everything :)

ps, i love your kitties! Jacob is adorable!!!! And gabriel is sooooo naghty, lol

  • I think the depression comes from the worry that the bypass might not work. Trust me, in time...it does. I weighed over 300 lbs. before it . Now almost 8 yrs. later, I'm at about 180 lbs. now. I go up 10-15 lbs without doing anything but it comes right back off without trying. That's normal. Don't give up on yourself, you can and WILL do it. Much love to you!

P.S. I even had a baby and lost the extra 10 lbs in about 3 weeks. See, there is hope!! NEVER give up!

  • I'm a warrior! I never give up! I lost 150 gained back 30 and am now getting help, real help, from a brilliant nutritionist who's addressing my adrenal fatigue and malnourishment. Thank you for reaching out! 'm glad to hear how well you're doing!

  • @imdamama1 i am thinking of going for this surgery i have been over weight all my life, and my dr, says it last results, I am diabetic type 2. high blood pressure, and i know this will go away, but have to admit thiese videos are scarying me. but i know for health reasons i have to do it, thanks for the input,

  • I know this feeling i understand It is not the easy way out. I have researched so much into this and it frightens me. This is a very scary thing. The one thing I have found that works and is a last step before you do surgery is called The HCG weight loss protocol by Dr.Simeons also known from Kevin Trudeaus weight loss cure. It works I have started it and it realy works. It is amazing and there is much to learn about it so look into it on you tube here because i already wrote way to much lol.

  • I highly recommend you go to the Weston A. Price Foundation website and read read read! I agree. Govt is feeding us crap from their God awful starchy yeasty food pyramid. I'm eating traditional now and feel so much better! God bless you.

  • I watch the videos of women in pain and sick from the food that this goverment practicly puts in our mouths. I see that they want us big so that they can sell us there weight loss cures that never work and the healthy food that tastes horrible and we see that nothing works. we then go to the doc for pills still not working and killing our selves even faster now with the speed pills from doc. We decide I hate myself so much I can only cut into my body and have them take out my stomach to stop.

  • Im clean and have been since i started methadone. However the methadone has caused my body to not sleep naturaly or digest and thing correctly so i had gained over 100 pounds.I am now coming off the methadone and i know everything there is to know about healthy eating and exercise i use to be a dancer I also was a very hard trainer and would exercise daily I got my black belt and everything. I was obsessed about being THIN heroin was a big help. Now Iam over weight and i never though it possible.

  • you are so real and I love you so much. As a kid my mom was over wheight however i would not have traded her for anything because for some reason i felt safe and loved by it. Almost like it was an insulation for the family. I would visit friends with skinny moms and never get the feeling of a mother that was in control and took care of her family like my mom did.I dont know why that is. I was always very thin until 4 years ago from methadone for heroin addiction.

  • Hey you are beautiful and I think our sadness comes from not being able to comfort our appitite as past. YOU CAN DO IT. Bob

  • Thanks for the support! I'm doing so much better now. Learning lots about nutrition. Getting well for good! Lost over 130 pounds :-) See how I'm doing on my blog (TheSkinnyOnline) for a day by day update and thanks for the support!

  • I think you're doing great. I was in the same boat and am currently losing weight. I think your honesty helps as I realise I'm not the only one out there that feels like that xx

  • My poor old Jacob and my beloved Sea Woo. Jacob died at age 21 and the Sea Woo at 17. Boy my cats live a long long time!

  • Hi I just had gastric bypass surgery September 10th 2008. I am feeling just like you have very weepy and depressed. All I can consume is liquids. I am terrified to even attempt soft foods. I hope after all of this it was worth it. Good luck and I love your honesty.

  • I went through all kinds of withdrawals after the bypass. Carbohydrate withdrawal, sugar withdrawal...food in general withdrawal. Hang in there. It all gets much easier. Going from super-morbidly obese to borderline morbidly obese was definitely worth it...for me. Be well :-)

  • Lisa, I responded to your 08/21/06 posting and my brother lost 60 pounds thus far and I find that to be a lot since him having the surgery on 08/21/08. He is miserable, but I love him and just want him to be okay. I hope you are doing much better. I am going to try to watch all of your clips. Thank you for posting them for People to see what it is really like. I appreciate your boldness. God bless you!

  • I can't speak for others but I eat low fat, high protein high fiber foods. I drink coffee with soymilk. I do not eat canned tuna (can't digest it) but fresh, seared or sushi tuna is fine. No cheese unless it's fat free and then only a little. No bologna. Yes turkey. NO fried foods at all. Yes baked potato. Get medical attention for your thyroid! Eat whole, fresh foods. Avoid processed crap, white flour, white sugar and fats. You'll do fine. :-)

  • What kinds of food do people eat to lose weight and keep it off after gastric bypass surgery?

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?

Can you drink milk and coffee?

Can you eat a tuna fish sandwich or a balogne and cheese sandwich?

    How about french fries?

I have no idea what to eat because I don't know what's good or what's bad.

4 yrs. ago I gained 120 pounds in 3 months due to thyroid disease and I still eat the same as I did before it happened.

  • Damn Gabriel get off that TV!!! Haha keep on fighting! Look forward to the good times.

  • Grey skies are gonna clear up!! Life is getting much much better :-)

  • i am so happy for you! good for you for being strong and shaing your love with god's precious animals. god bless and take car.

  • Thank you so much for your compassion!

  • What you need is JESUS!!!!

  • Amen, sister!

  • Jacob rocks!!

  • Why were you in Intensive Care? Where in the country do you live? New England?

  • The surgeon had to remove a 15 year old gastric band that was covered in scar tissue. He was a genius!! I'm so grateful to him for his expertise.

  • I will be having roux-en-Y probably late July early August at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford with a wonderful surgeon. I have concerns about the risk and about my depression and if it could get worse. Sometimes I just say to myself IT ISNT TOO LATE TO BOW OUT SAL. It is so frightening. I love the way your kitty tried to grab the food from you. He or she is so precious. I love my kitties, they are the "best medicine"

  • My cats are such a support to me. Their love and the love of my friends has helped me to heal.

  • hi Lisa, I am considering the surgery and I watch you struggle emotionally on your video, are you in a better mental state now? I would love to see you post a new video of your success.

  • I did post one recently. I'm down 140 pounds with another 50 or so to go!!

  • Was your surgery laprascopic or open? Are you glad you did it? Best of luck...

  • He did it laproscopically. But he was taking out a gastric band that was installed, then reinstalled FULLY OPEN. So I was full of scar tissue and adhesions. I am THRILLED that I did this. Thanks for the luck :-) TheSkinnyOnline

  • DO YOU HAVE ANY RECENT UPDATES?

  • Working on 'em. Having trouble uploading latest videos. For the record? I'm 140 pounds lighter, no longer insulin dependent and much, much happier!

  • I connected deeply with you. I have social phobia and enjoy my cats more than people. am very depressed and lost in my life. WLS wont change this but maybe will help me feel alive. God Bless you and your kitties. Sal

  • My little Jacob (the tuxedo cat in the video) died at age 21 last week :-(. But I'm doing much better! Depression is manageable. Lost 140 pounds. Much brighter outlook on life. Hope you're doing well!

  • I am sorry about the loss of your precious kitty. Dont despair. You are on your way

  • Thanks. It's hard to watch this vid cuz he's in it being a classic nooch!! Thanks for the kind words :-)

  • my b/f has social anxiety, he's working on it. :) I don't particularly like cats, but mine is the coolest cat in the world. I love my dog to pieces tho

  • Thanks! I should do some serious kitty viddy here on YouTube! I'm so sorry to hear of your troubles. Please know that there is a spark within you. Just fan it to a flame. Life wants life. I wish the best for you!

  • ....................

  • I watched your first video on Easter Sunday, 2008 and begged my daughter to add a comment, Iwat5ched you second video today a nd wish to tell you that you did the best thinng you could do for yourself. You are be3autiful inside and it will only be a matter of time before the r est of the world views the beautiful woman you are. I pray that you are happier now thatit isover a year later. Don't fe3el bad about yourself.

  • Your prayers must be working. I am feeling better inside and out! I'm blogging alot lately about self esteem, self talk and self care. We need to be kind to ourselves with food and with everything!! Thanks for your kind words.

  • Do you have a more recent video blog to update since your surgery?

  • Yeah, but we're having all kinds of trouble uploading it from my stupid camera. Working on it though! :-)

  • Thank you so much for your kind words. Thank you for your encouragement. I am doing so much better now! Still struggling but winning :-)

  • Hey there!

It's been over a yr after your surgery. I hope you're doing great. I had my surgery last week and I never felt so much pain in my life. In fact, I wasn't afraid of the surgery. I was only afraid of the life style change and hours after the surgery I felt like I had made the worse decision of my life but now (a week after) I feel great.

I saw your second video and I also know what's like to deal with depression. I hope you're fine and are winning the battle against obesity.

    GOOD LUCK!

  • As a matter of face, I am winning! It's a struggle but it's a winning battle. We are all hardwired to be well. It's just untangling the wires that gets tricky. Thanks for your kind words!

  • You are such a hoot, even depressed you seem like the neatest person to just hang out with! I'm sorry you had so much trouble with the surgery and after and I hope you're doing great now!

  • Omg shes so much slimmer

  • I had a bowel resection for colonic inertia in 2004 (huge open incision like yours) and I hear you about the pain...horrific. I was also depressed after surgery...I think part of it is the pain, part of it is being tired, rundown and just the process of recovering from major surgery. The sadness lifts and you go on with your life. Things get better! Congrats to you.

  • Juice, Just wanted to wish you a Happy New Year and continued success in your endeavors. Guess who

  • Hello! I would love to know how your doing now if your up to it. Hope all is well!!

    ;-)

  • Oh Wow, it's THE LisaLuLuFuFu of Susan Powter fandom!!! I love how you're always one of the first to leave comments for our beloved Susan. She's a Goddess. Nuff said.

I'm 130 pounds lighter and happy as f**k. hahaha

I've been taking kickboxing classes to become more badass. I'll put up a new video over the next few weeks. Love you!!

  • Hi there! Please don't allow peolpe to hurt you with their negative comments. I am also from New Jersey. I really love your kitties! Thanks for being real. I admire you. You are going to get through it all. You are braver than you know.

  • Her feelings and pain after a gastric bypass is pretty common of all patients. She is courageous for making this video because people undertaking this surgery are never told about this kind of stuff before their GBS.

  • stop beeing a victim. you're smart and did the only right step-meaning operation! now go from here...your pain will vanish...if you understand that it was you gaining weight, you'll understand that it's your own power losing it! good luck and stay strong!

  • you can do it , (get more light in that room)

it will cheer you up some .

be proud to have a gift-- an ability to teach. i bet you are a wonderful leader!!

  • Hi Lisa - I hope you are feeling better and are still making progress since your surgery..your depression might be partly due to a lack of seratonin being produced by the brain now that you have changed your dieting habits and aren't eating sugary foods as much? Also, I've had feedback from a lot of other WLS patients who have said that they feel an anticlimax after surgery because they are impatient wanting to see the results of the surgery..hang in there - things will get better!

  • "Suffering a crisis of meaninglessness." I can really relate to that, and am going through some of these feeling currently.

  • It's not worth feeling what small, fleeting joy life brings...

  • You've come a long way from 10/06. Good for you! Thanks for the genuineness. Depression stinks beyond stinkiness. I tend toward depressive episodes, and I can remember watching "marathons" on tv during those times. Yeesh. Keep getting better and better!

    Mir

  • I'm glad to see you are doing so much better after this I know it's going to be hard for me but it's something I need to do and I am well prepared for it. God bless.

  • Being prepared for it is half the battle! I'll be cheering you on, my dear!

  • Thank you so much for your concern. I was and still am on a nice cocktail of antidepressants AND my crisis of meaninglessness is over. I've lost 120 pounds so far and am optimistic as ever!

  • I am so sorry that you feel this way. Did they put you on antidepressants? My doctor puts everyone on antidepressants after surgery. I wish I had the right words for you. I will pray for you and I wish you the best.
