I've read the Qur'an multiple times, sometimes with a commentary, no where in it does it say to treat people of different religions as anything but human. The part where it talks about infidels is usually in reference to a historical event. You can quote one verse, but really, it is like quoting a sentence out of a medical textbook -- it won't make any sense.

Second, I don't like muslim countries any more than you do. Why do you think I'm living here if I liked them so much? These are only little parts of Sharia as a whole. Sharia is *deen*, literally way of life, divine laws. The Sharia includes both faith and practice. It includes worship, individual attitude and conduct, as well as social norms and laws - political, economic, familial, criminal, or civil.

I've read the Qur'an multiple times, sometimes with a commentary, no where in it does it say to treat people of different religions as anything but human. The part where it talks about infidels is usually in reference to a historical event. You can quote one verse, but really, it is like quoting a sentence out of a medical textbook -- it won't make any sense.

Captured soldiers or townspeople were kept as slave, perfectly acceptable during those times, Islam encouraged manumission of freeing slaves which is why the Prophet freed so many himself. But yes, slavery existed but it was very honorable and civil, Muslims treated slaves like brothers, adopting them sometimes as son with no forced labor.
