I think the ecclesiastic power is just a system to control bikkhus like bureaucrat / government official. It has both good and bad side. But I'm sure many Vipassana Thai bikkhus don't cling to it.

It's like you are professor but your main work is teaching. Sth like that : )

you must watch tsem tulku rinpoche's dharma talks. they are really something else. Also watch Rinpoche's twitterfeed at the tsemtulku account on twitter.
