Very nice. Big Frank and Tony fan here. I actually came across old reel to reel tapes of Mottolas ' Mr Big' and 'Romantic Guitar' and transferred them to cd and they are so clean and crisp. I enjoy them almost everyday on my Ipod.
I had Romantic Guitar as a kid. great album. If I remember, it had a nice version of Speak Low. I had another one with all Italian songs, the title I forget...
I have an old book with a bunch of Tony's arrangements. One day i'll post a few.
Thanks for sharing this - great work. I'd love to have the tabs to this but appreciate it's quite time consuming. I've been trying to learn it by ear but still got a long way to go! :)
Couldn't have said it better, c50. The toughest students for me are adults who did it their way for 30 years, then come to lessons wanting to get better.......At least a year of breaking bad habits.
Sidethehead. Very Nicely done. You say your a teacher of guitar. My teacher of guitar in the late 60's early 70's kept pounding music theory into me. All I wanted to do was play. Some weeks I hated him, but here I am, still strumming a few decades later, and glad he did.
Thanks c50. I loved Tony. My dad bought his albums, and I have a cousin in Florida who plays a lot like him. He was a great jazz player early on before he went pop. Hard to find those.... Played all Sinatra's tours. Good teacher! A little theory and technique goes a long way.
thanks much ashley. no big name stuff, i'm just a local gittar teacher tryin' to pay the bills and find a gig. can't dance or sing, so just pluggin' away. maybe i should try rap.......
Thanks 123sich. I agree. I didn't set out to do this tune with this rig and setting, but got this take and kept it. Want to eventually do it again on the Gretsch with less 'verb!
Oops, accidentally deleted the previous comment. But I've been to Vegas a few times, a few weeks in 1980 with a top 40 band and most recently for a wedding. Have to say, I liked the old Vegas better.
The Rockabilly show sounds fun. I know of B. Street Music, think I was there sometime back. I teach up in San Ramon.
Not sure I know what you mean. I play a gretsch and I play jazz and everything else on it. Most jazz players don't play Gretsches, but I don't really think of myself as a 'jazz' player anyway. My advice is play whatever guitar you like.....
Hey Bud. Thanks a lot my friend. I really love the tele, but it's very heavy and gets to my shoulder a bit, so i don't haul it out much, but wanna do more on it (it has a b-bender which is really fun). What really made the guitar for me is the 'I love Hawaii' turtle sticker. Strategically placed to help the tone.
ok. thats enough of that!! Incredible! super fine pickin on an awesome sounding Tele.(noticed your Gretsch isnt too far away though)fine playing Joe keep 'em coming! Bud

I've gone there on Vacation - Lol!
I sometimes go to The Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender shows! I play mostly in the SF Bay area and teach at B. Street Music in San Mateo.
I Love the arrangement you have here of "The Lady is a Tramp!" ,,,

Very nice playing! :)
I live in the SF Bay Area too and play similar styles.
I also play Gretsches :)

thanks Stichfam. Gretches are unsung guitars in my opinion, stereotyped for rockabilly and country, but way more versatile than that.......

Hey, the tele sounds good. I have a question: can you play jazz with a gretsch?
