  • its funny, how this is such an awesome song and they just take it like "hun, its just another song from another album.. i don't think i want to play this live, we have better stuff to play anyway"

  • @LesPaulFelix shows the quality of the band, the talent in everything they did, something that most bands can just dream about, to create a masterpiece like this, ever... :)

  • great fuckin song

  • These guys produced some unique stuff, I grew up with these tunes, so I would say it's timeless, but it really is. The problem today is, if somebody really tried to go down this avenue with music, they get laughed out of town by a bunch of sadcases listening to todays pathetic chart music.

  • Got my GNR tickets for KC on Nov 12. I am an old GNR fan,but will be glad just to see the new band and Axl. Maybe someday we will see this again.

  • Seriously brings a tear to your eye, these lyrics are so true for every you and every me. AWSOME!!!

  • the best lyrics ever.....

  • one of my all time fave songs

  • I think all children should be locked in closets so they cant tell whats going on outside . lol j/k

  • @Gre3kuz amen brother, im with you!

  • 2 people just don't appreciate that our old music paved the way for your shit bands today! Don't be a sheep!

  • @Heelissrogue old good music didnt pave the way for new sh!t music, wake up plz

  • even w/ tha last record, I still love him as a lyricist, writes some doog shit....fuck em all

  • he said "let me hear YA now" not "let me hear IT now"

  • W. Axl Rose love him or hate him he is a hell of a songwriter and Izzy is very underrated aswell

  • @ImaMinorCharacter This song specifically is all axl, but i think GnR is axl slash n duff, listen to estranged and rocket queen, those three make magic!!!.... fuck!!!

  • @shorty888 prefer the axl izzy duff trio, but slash rocks \m/

  • @shorty888 Listen to them ? I have all the albums and trust me, Izzy can write a great song too. I think I was pissed when I wrote that comment too xD

  • W. Axl Rose love him or hate him he is a legend who is among the best songwriters (i think) ever

  • words of urban wisdom by the infamous urban poet

  • remember in this game we call life that no one said it's fair..

  • What's with the analysis on all the music on the "tube" can't people just ejoy the tunes and click elsewhere if you don't like what you hear!

  • Comment removed

  • GUNS AND ROSES , I MISS YOU!

  • @deathhgirl dude, this song is all Axl.

  • GnR didn't have songs...they were more like rock n roll compositions

  • thanks, great effort :-)

  • 3:30 sounds alot like get in the ring and the piano sounds like november rain lol

  • Most people have never heard the real GnR music. The songs that never made the airwaves are some of the best shit I've ever heard

  • its a saying that 'the bass players always gets the girls' ... hahaha ! izzy :)

  • @axlforever123 Izzy said that ? XD

  • im at invvision bunk # m1

  • 5:50 - end where do those lyrcis come from? are they gnr?

  • @MrCold768 Haha sorry for the very late reply, but they come from the 1971 movie Vanishing Point. If you look it up on IMDB.com and look in the quotes section it's the very first one :)

  • @MademoiselleChanel94 thx for info :)

  • there would be no guns without izzy they would be ok without slash but if izzy was never in we wouldn't have any songs he co-wrote almost all of them and some of their best songs were only written by him (patience, you could be mine, think about you, etc.) people always say slash is gnr slash isn't really important at all izzy and axl are gnr not slah

  • "Funny how everything was roses when we hold on to the guns."

    one of the best songs

  • If the REAL Guns n' Roses do not get back together, I'm gonna' have a nervous BREAKDOWN!!!

  • One mistake.....Instead of "Smash, Rape," it is supposed to be; "Smash, Break!!" Other than that, helluva good job!!

  • love axl but nothing beats the good old guns n roses..... love all the songs and there are so many brilliant ones like these one that never really got as popular as the other ones.... guess just a truly gnr fan knows these great songs :)

  • wow, only 1 guy has accidentally misclicked the like-button

  • gnr is along with other great bands and shouldnt be dissed, dont like it, dont listen to it, no need to carry on like tossers about it acting like a bunch of keyboard cowboys dogging out one of the greatest sounds ever

  • you have to know the lyrics yo axls songs otherwise the lyrics sound like utter gibberish lol

  • They about to strike, they gonna get him !

SMASH! RAPE! lol, i can feel the raw of axl in my heart ^^

  • 1 dislike?! 1 asshole. 1 justin bieber fan. 1 faggot.

  • Legends!!!

  • the solo on this song is slashes best work and the whole rest of this album the Horse musta been riding high lol with the beautiful lone driver..... so much fun

  • the solo on this song is slashes best work and the whole rest of this album the Horse musta been riding high lol

  • I always loved that last part about the last beautiful free soul on this planet/superdriver of the golden west... and of course the solo that goes with it.

  • What a fantastic solo!!

  • the lyrics are sooo damn amazingg.

    GNR forever! <3

  • just because you're winnin' dont mean you're the lucky ones !!!

  • Very well done!

  • lol, I forget how much these guys ARE absolute ROCK POETS.

  • the new stuff isnt even in the same league as this, such an awesome song!

  • You can learn alot of life lessons from this beutiful song.

    GNR Forever man!

  • @IWantUrBallsSmashed exactly what i said the other day

  • Guys come on and stop arguing if Old GNR or New GNR are better, point is GNR as a whole is the greatest band to ever live. Whether you started to give up with "The Spaghetti Incident?" or if Chinese Democracy isnt for you doesn't matter. Im just 16 now and I love every 81 songs GNR has ever officially released, because lets face it even their worst songs are better than anything new these days. So let's stop the fighting and appreciate the greatest band ever as AFD just had its 23rd bday.

  • @stewartmc7 I think everything they made behond spaghetti incident was pretty bad and dont listen to it, because just because saying its better than other new bands stuff doesnt make it something id want to listen to.

  • Greatest song ever.......I shall requote myself very soon, as im on a nostalgic gnr tour this evening.

  • this song always makes me feel better, and sometimes i just have take the time and go out of my way to hear this song.

there are a few key phrases in here, pearls of wisdom, that mean a lot to me and that i have to be reminded of because of the life i live.

the funny thing is that i can promise you that when axl wrote this song there is no way he meant for it to have the meaning that i have applied lol.

  • Admirable though it is for Axl to try and keep it alive, I have to say I think he should let go. I have no doubt that the members are talented, but I am rapidly loosing faith in Axl, because he doesn't seem to realise it's not the same. Buckethead? Please, Guns N' Roses have turned into more of spectacle. It's almost pushing on the verge of being disrespectful.

  • @Missmaid5 Kinda like Velvet Revolver failing at GNR covers and then Slash hiring Fergie and CYPRESS HILL to fail as well.

Good comparison if I do say so myself ^.^

    Peace

  • @Missmaid5 I feel like it is kind of like the Beatles. Those four guys together did something greater than what each of them put into the band. GNR is bigger than the sum of its parts, which is what gave us so many good songs.

  • all their music takes me to a really peaceful place,, ,,

  • "Just because you're winning don't mean you're the lucky one" great lyrics man. just hands down my fave old GNR song. and so true if you REALLY think about it.

  • @1ofLouisBoys I love Guns N Roses more then anything, but there aint nothin lucky about being a loser :/

  • Chill out with the insults. IMO CD represents GnR just as much as UYI or AFD GnR does. It is the same sound. Moreso, it is not entertainment like most modern bands, but art.

And as a sidenote, judging from solo projects Izzy is by far more important to GnR than Slash (my opinion). For the GnR sound: Axl > Izzy > Slash (not sure where Duff works into this, somewhere around Slash).

  • @ganadote couldn't agree more

  • @ganadote Well acutally for me its Axl=Izzy=Slash=Duff=Steven

  • @ganadote I agree ^_^ completely

  • @ganadote i agree with the insults part.not with what cd represents but anyway, not gonna argue about it.

Izzy and Axl are indeed important but dont forget that the old gnr work as a family and influenced each other so even the drummer who wouldnt compose songs had his word or did his work by being in the band.Dont forget that they need the image as well, thats what made them "bad boys of rock"....personas,just like KISS.

  • @Ninitos1

Which drummer, Matt or Steve? I think Steve's work on Appetite was far superior to anything Matt did with the band later.

I don't get why people have a problem with the current lineup (some stunningly good musicians), but they don't have a problem with the Use Your Illusion tour going ahead with an ARMY of musicians, yet without 40% of the original band

  • @malph182 it is true and it's that album that created what they are.I dont have problem with the current lineup because they dont have talent or anything...it's just that for me and the majority of the old fans(sum new too) GNR=ax slash izzy duff steve(or matt and dizzy, great albums with them too).Everything else just wont be acceptable.Anyway no need to fight, just my opinion.

  • @Ninitos1 The only other band that was considered "bad boys of rock n roll" alongside GnR were Motley Crue.. The two real bad boys of the 80s.

  • @ganadote Duff is an amazing bass player, listen harder next time ;)

  • @ganadote really dude? really? I agree izzy was really importand but slash and duff where right beneath him! Without slash and duff there's no GNR sound and for me music is everything in a band! Axl comes after those three!

  • @simplyrockblog Why Axl at the end? He alone created awesome songs like November Rain, Estranged, "This song", Dead Horse, One in a million, This I love. And together with Izzy songs like YCBM, Patience, Don't Cry, 14 years, My Michelle. He did not only wrote the lyrics to SCOM, WTTJ, RQ and PC but he also was part in the creation of the MUSIC for those songs. And that's just to mention the "known" songs.

  • @simplyrockblog Now, let me ask you, apart from the guitar parts he did and the awesome riffs, what GnR song was created by Slash alone? I firmly believe Axl and Izzy were always the real creative force.

  • Who's a better drummer, steven adler or matt sorum?

  • @twinletoes97 Steven even better

  • @twinletoes97 steven adler

  • their new stuff is great not trying to bash on it they are an INCREDIBLE band

but to be honest i felt they were a little more alive witht their orginal line up im not sure if it is becuase the time period they were more apprcieated(spelt that wrong) or what

i dont want someone to reply to this in a hissy so i want u to know

no offense to the new GNR they are great im just saying ilike thier old stuff more

  • @rogatoga Agreeeeeed. I mean wtf. Buckethead. Are you kidding me? Axl needs to let go.

  • Comment removed

  • i love this song..

  • u write the name wrong,it's Guns N' Roses

  • it's Guns N' Roses not Guns 'N' Roses

  • This song as well as "Locomotive" are both extremely artist

  • why do people hate axl just leave him alone people

  • gnr 4 life

    axl is gnrer

  • @king123421 Oh please. Of course the other members are going to insult and attack him, just because your beloved Slash says something, doesn't mean it is a fact.

  • Chinese is just great

  • GENIAL

    Merci !!!!

  • od new it doesn;t matter axl rol rose with out slash it don't matter it him he can sing

  • Keep it mean, I wish they, all the means

  • Blast from the past cassic!!

  • so sad that greatest band ever broke up.

    :(

Gn'R will always be in my heart.

  • They didn't break up.

  • the real guns n roses did cause the new band is nothing compared to the real one

  • GN'R is one band, and just as in almost every other band that has been around for 20+ years, it does not have its original, or classic lineups in tact. The fact that your pissy about Slash not being the band does not give you the right to blatantly disregard the incredible technical skill of the new band members. Chinese Democracy is a very complex record, it requires several listens to fully appreciate it to the full extent. It is by no means nothing. Give it a proper shot.

  • actually i have the new cd and i like it but its not like the old ones and i dont say this cause Slash isnt in it. I think that it would be good band but with different name.

  • So if a band decides to use a different style they should have to change their name? Axl owns the Guns N' Roses name, he has the right to use it, and he should.

  • yeah the legal right but they are not the same band and even Axl isnt the same man he used to be so maybe he shold get over it and start over cause now everyone compares them to old lineup

  • It is the same band, and just as in almost every other band in existence, neither its original, nor its classic lineups are in tact, but that does not mean it should be considered a different band, however, if Axl were to leave, then it would be a different band. Anyone can learn to play guitar like Slash, or Izzy, but you can't just acquire Axl's incredible singing ability.

People unfairly judge the new lineup, it's pathetic just how stupid some people can be.

  • @Cyanarchy how can they be called the same band. yeah they have same singer but he doesnt even sing the way he used to sing. Plus have you heard the new lineups version of some of the old songs. Those clearly shows that they cant play them the same way. And maybe you should think about what you call stupid when you clearly stand up for the new band just because of Axl.

  • @Cyanarchy It's not same band..One and only GnR was first lineup..Without Axl singing ability,Slash riffs,Izzy's lyrics,Duff bas line, and Steven drums thats not Guns and Fucking Roses!!So stop talking bullshit -.-

  • @Slash90ify Their first lineup was Axl, Izzy, Tracii Guns, Ole Beich, and Rob Gardner. Slash and Steven were fucked up on drugs half the time, I don't miss them. Duff didn't really do anything, and Izzy wrote most of their material, and yet they do great without him. In short, GN'R is an unstoppable machine that won't stop because a few druggies have to be removed, they will, and are, soldiering on.

  • Comment removed

  • @Cyanarchy yeah and axl is the great one who never did drugs or anything like that and his songs are clearly the best ones and the fact that he drove everybody else crazy and out of the band and finaly bought the rights really mean that he is the best and only needed one in the band

  • @Atasmiss He did do drugs, but he stopped any hard drug usage when Guns became successful, 1988. Axl helped write many songs, Izzy wrote the bulk of them though.

Well, what an ignorant and heavily biased statement. He didn't drive all of them out of the band, Steven was fired, Izzy left , and Slash and Duff left because they didn't feel it was the same band, clearly, they were wrong. Only after they left did they get all pissy and attack Axl. That's why I love Axl, his rocker attitude.

  • Comment removed

  • @Cyanarchy so you are saying that you are right when even the real band members disagree. Yeah axl did write lot of songs and so did everybody else. All bandmembers are always important in the band and saying thet you love just axl shows that you dont understand music. You are in the page of the song thats from old guns n roses and telling that you love axl and dont appreciate the old members so why dont listen only new songs and stop fighting in so many pages.

  • If your reason of loving axl is only because of his rocker attitude then you should open your eyes and ears to see that whole old guns n roses is all about rocker attitude and talent that emphasizes also your beloved axls voice in a way that cant be heard in the new cd.

  • @Atasmiss That's part of it, along with his incredible voice, and the fact that he didn't do drugs even when the rest of his band of glorified junkies were.

Axl still has that rocker attitude.

Yeah, you're right, Axl can't sing any more, that's why his singing has been praised by countless critics on the '09-'10 tour, that's why he hit his highest note ever on There Was A Time off of Chinese Democracy, and that's why his singing is more consistent now than it has ever been before.

  • @Cyanarchy

let me point out that Axl owns the GNR name because he insisted on buying it off the rest of the band for himself exclusively, and the others were reluctant to make the deal, but pressured into it. I'm not saying you're wrong or right, just stating a relevant fact.

  • Comment removed

  • @ElectricGypsy95 I'd like to point out that that is a bullshit story, Duff has never confirmed it, and $la$h even admitted that the ownership of the name was settled in a court, no forced contract can hold up in court.

  • @Cyanarchy i agree with all your comments bud, chinese democracy rocks and i wish Guns n Roses come to Spain

  • gnr 4 eva unitl death fuc this world and all you fucking wannabe's speread your bullshit elsewhere?? new gnr is the shity like the old gnr. it's kinda like this shitty life, onbe day til next

  • @ki66143 I really have no idea what you are saying, please refrain from communicating with other humans until you obtain some level of intelligence lest you embarrass yourself.

  • @ki66143 Wow you are a complete dumbass. First learn proper English, dipshit. Then, cut your testicles off and shove them up your ass, because this world will be a better place with retards like you out of the gene pool. In addition, where the fuck else should we talk about an amazing band such as GN'R? This is YouTube so we can post whatever the fuck we want. You wanna complain about it, go blame your mom for dropping you on your head at birth.

  • @ki66143 Wait, are you making fun of GN'R or are you praising them? the fuck? I take back my rant if you meant to praise them. But nonetheless learn English.

  • @Cyanarchy I did and its ................SHIT! And all though other bands have replaced members ACDC, Van Halen,Rolling Stones etc......Axl has carried on with GNR like it was his creation forgetting all the contributions that not only Slash gave but Duff ,Izzy and Steve ,no band has gotten rid of an entire line up with the exception of the lead singer and had the nerve to keep the name.Axl is a selfish fuck and should of renamed his new band because no real GNR fan considers the new shit GNR.

  • @greatgazu You obviously didn't. GNR was Axl's creation, his and Izzy's. Axl was the driving force. Proven by ChiDem. Only a true GNR fan would take the time to learn to, at the very least, appreciate the incredible piece of music that is Chinese Democracy.

  • @Cyanarchy Well I guess if more people agreed with you then ChiDem would of sold more then it did.The REAL GNR fans don't consider this GNR music because it only has the original singer in it and has a completely different sound then it did when the real GNR were together.Thats like saying every band that Dave Grohl forms is Nirvana or everytime Ozzy comes out with a new CD its Black Sabbath .

  • @greatgazu No. You aren't factoring in the incredible stupidity of people. People are so image-crazed that they won't give anyone who isn't Slash a chance.

A different sound? It's the next logical progression from GNR. AFD was heavy metal/hard rock, UYI was more bluesy rock, TSI was punk rock, CD is industrial rock. But I suppose you hate every band that changes their sound, right? Idiot.

No, that's completely different, Axl is the force behind GNR, just as Iommi was the force behind Sabbath.

  • @Cyanarchy not rly. All 5 of them were in the la club scene met up and formed a band. axl didint going recruiting, they just me

    t

  • @lamecow21 Is really so hard to spell that you must shorten it?

  • @Cyanarchy Is it really so hard to type you need to leave out words you fucking douche?

  • @lamecow21 I didn't leave out any words. Go get hit by a bus.

  • @Cyanarchy Is "it" really.... while your going back to pre-k to learn to speak, see a doctor.

  • @lamecow21 That would imply you spelled 'it' wrong. Fail.

  • @Cyanarchy That would imply you have your head up your ass. Fail.

  • @lamecow21 Go get hit by a bus.

  • @Cyanarchy Go suck axels dick. The new gnr can never recreate whatb that original line up formed.

  • @lamecow21 They recreate it perfectly. GN'R does not need any one particular guitarist or bassist or whatever, all it needs is Axl's ambition and musical skill.

  • @Cyanarchy If thats all it needed they would have released a great album. Chinese Democracy has some o.k. songs and is aimed at the new generations sound which I have no problem with but he should change the name of the band. GnR does need a particular drummer, etc. If any member of the band had not been a member the albums would not have sold as well. This shows how ignorant of the band you are.

  • @lamecow21 They did release a great album. CD has a lot of great songs, and some really good songs. Their sound is not new, it is just the next logical progression. GNR needs only Axl Rose. Slash, Adler, Duff gave relatively little to the sound and the music of GNR. Izzy wrote the songs, but Axl does at least as good on his own.

  • @greatgazu Megadeth replaced all it's members except Dave Mustaine. When you say "no other band", you should get your facts straight.

  • @Cyanarchy most bands have more thn 1 member of the original line up in tact

  • @lamecow21 Most bands aren't as good as GNR either. GNR's classic lineup, that is Slash, Adler, Rose, Izzy, and Duff, only contained two original members. But no one cried when Tracii Guns left.

  • @Cyanarchy Because tracii guns didnt help record songs, and was not featured on an album. They were not a known band when he was in the band or when he left
