  • 1.) feet are way to far in the stirrup

2.) you sit way to far back in the saddle

3.) how long have you been riding?

  • try arching your back and not hinching forward. other wise your too much *down*

  • pice of crap

  • @lilly1c lol? is English your second langauge? Or have you not gotten past the part of the third grade were you spell big words?? Epic fail at trying to insult me.

  • @Chestnutbrigdestables: every horse ages differently. Just because her horse is 35 doesn't mean he has to retire. There isn't an actual age for a horse to retire, it depends on the horse. I know horses that are 40+ and are still going strong.

  • @miatapony16 Thank you! We did retire him actually, this was just weeks before I started with a new horse. He was an Arabian, he was pretty hardy and still free jumped for the heck of it. Of course I'd never have ridden him if I thought it was a discomfort or burden for him..

  • okay- your reins are like washing lines lol. your horse iis pretty cutee!

  • your a really good rider and everything but your horse is a bit to old sos hope you dont take it affenceve but a 35 year old horse is supposed to be retierd

  • sorry that he passed away! ):

  • Very Pretty horse!!

  • 35?! Please tell me that horse is retired now...

  • im not tryin to be mean but lift ur hands and bend ur elbows!!! :)

  • @TheJummoandDoir Thanks! Yeah there's so much wrong with this video its not even funny. It was just one of those stupid days where my mind was no where near focused.. Thanks for the tips though =)

  • ur riding a 35 year old horse arent they supposed to be retired by then

  • aww srry that happend... GOOD JOB THOUGH! :D

  • You have a really good seat, your a really good rider!

Gorgeous pony too, your so lucky :)

  • I'm not sure it's your leg position because nothing is too wrong with it..just long stirrups :)

I find to get little thinkgs like my heel down, I have to really think about it! As you ride try to keep telling your self 'heels down, heels down'

the only way to get them down is to keep practising :)

PS I'm sorry your horse passes away! He was gorgeous :)

  • @AislingxXx1234 Thanks so much for the advice =)

  • he was going pretty fast for a 35 year old horse. =)

  • Kabandega your a great rider...but try and push you heels down a little bit more and but the stirrup bar more twords you toe..it will help you stay balanced ;)

  • @horseluv1414 Thanks, I agree. I'm having trouble understanding why I have these issues lately. Basically my heel starts popping up and then the iron moves back instead of being at the ball of my foot because there isn't enough weight in it. Make sense? I did have a surgery recently and when this was taken I was healing and having issues with my leg fatiguing, guess that could be part of it. I dunno, its very frustrating because I've never had issues until now. Thanks for the advice though =)

  • @Kabendega Im not trying to be mean, but it looks like you stirrup is really long. does it fall where your ankle is? it helps push your heel down and helps you balance also so your not reaching for your stirrup, other than that your position is great! ;)

  • @HorseShoe24 That was not mean at all =) Nah I ride with my stirrups at the ball of my ankle. They may have been long this time for some reason, I can't honestly remember. I had a bad instructor who constantely messed with my stirrups. I understand the physics, pushing my heel down etc. I can't understand why it pops up despite putting weight in my heels. Could it be my leg position? I haven't riden much since Beau passed away, I really want to use all the advice everyone has given me. Thanks!

  • @Kabendega Hi me again =) so I saw you say that ur heel pops up, My heel did that all the time.but wut I did was drillls where I went into my 2-point and focused on pushing my heels down at the trot, Once I did that a little i would work on something else and my heels, and then add on. until it was almost 2nd nature to me. If your heel hurts, then that is something you can't help if you can't use bendy stirrups, if you can, then it helps you push your heel, naturally. Sorry to hear about Beau.

  • @HorseShoe24 Thanks for the advice, I'll try that =)

  • @Kabendega yep :)

  • @HorseShoe24 her stirrup is the perfect length for flat work. if she was jumping they would be extremely to long and i agree she should put her stirrup closer to her toes but her position is great!

  • the horse is in great shape for 35 years old.. . but are you ok. you have had a hard life havent you how old are you??? i dont know if its creepy that im asking that question just wanted to know i am 11 and i only had two surgeries aand they werent major

  • what happened no one got the fall??!

  • @gottaride100 My boyfriend (bless his sole) saw it coming and droped the camera to come over and see if I was alright.. I would have rather he gotten the fall lol but at least he cares about me =p

  • @Kabendega i am so glad to find out that i am not the only one who wants to see it on camera when my horse spooks or has a problem.

  • Is "Beau" short for beautiful?

    He's handsome!

  • @theflackclan 'Beau' is French for handsome =)

  • @RNSpicey The funny part is that he show name was Handsom Beausome. I dunno, not the name I'd have picked lol..

  • @Kabendega Haha, that's a sweet name! =P Could you not re-register him if you dislike the name? =)

  • ah boyfriends,ds. lol beau was soo cute

  • Is there any way you could reduce your pumping and use your corners?

  • @CanterQueen820

Do you think I can't pick up on things like this? I don't need youttube users for that lol. I know I was pumping I had a trainer at the time who kept saying "swing like you're trying to pump on a swing" (worst advice I've ever received but at the time I didn't know any better) I wasn't training for competition, I wasn't working on anything specific, just trying to get him to motivate. Also, there are dive bombing pigeons at certain parts of the arena that I was avoiding.

  • I remember, when i rode my friends pony Ellie...she went galloping along concrete and ran into some-ones fence and i went flying off with the sadle! Now. That is what i call an impressive fall lol!

  • @hollyrobson0702

Lol, I'd like to see this. I hope you were ok though!

  • are you okay? i herd that you went in surgery.. i got bucked of, not even a buck, like a shiver, and i fell crying lmao. get well soon!! :)

  • @KisaKittyLove

Yeah I just started walking and doing physical therapy a few times a week. Can't wait to be back in the saddle, hopefully soon!

  • @Kabendega i hope so too, that was a nasty fall

  • @KisaKittyLove well it sounded like it, what caused it?

  • It wasn't bad. I landed on my butt so I bruised my tailbone though. When this video was taken I was recovering from surgery (a long time ago, not my most recent one) and my leg was stiff so after a while of riding it would cramp and spasm. It tightened up while I was up out of the saddle, just lost my balance I guess. The whole thing was silly.

  • Thats almost like the horse where I ride at! he is flea bitten grey, Egyptian Arab. He is also 35! lol his name is Ferrari. You ask him to trot, he canters XD he can jump some small jumps to, he absolutely LOVES jumping ;)

  • Aw! Yup Beau is a flea bitten grey.. He had a short neck but he was actually pretty good at jumping higher jumps. Up until he passed away he willingly free jumped =)

  • is he a schoolpony his legs were a bit stiff when he cantered

  • @BouncyBunnySmokey, I agree, he was definitely stiff. Many years ago he was used for schooling, at this point I rode him just to keep the two of us in shape. Never competitevly or anything and this was the most work we ever really did due to his age.. I got back on and walk him out but this ended up being one of our last rides. Weeks after this we decided to retire him. He was lame off and on for a few months and was treated for an abcess in December and had to be put down in January.

  • Forgive my typos. Its 4 am.

  • your canter was really good,

    keep it up :)

  • Thanks, unfortunately we lost Beau earlier in January. He was 35 though so he lived a long life and a half. I just had yet another surgery so god knows when I'll back up there again. =/

  • well hes in a happy place

and i hope you get better soon and you can get back in the saddle soon

    x sorry for your loss

  • aww this is my second time whatching this vid and when you said he died i was so sad :{

  • your boyfriend,i think that he was the one on camera. He must have gotten dizzy from spinning around. Lol

  • stirrup near the toe and lean back just a little more otherwise good :)

  • I can't hold a canter even close to that long! Great job! Sorry that you fell. What actually happened? After you cramped up, what made you fall? Just wondering. I fell off once. Was this your first?

  • Yeah he is in amazing shape for being 35. He is going to be retired though, so I won't be ridding him anymore =( . Even so I'm sure he'll still be his goofy energetic self up until the day he dies =p

  • wow 35 year old! he's fricken tough!

  • Awesome cantering for being 35 years!! GREAAT horse.

And too bad that we couldn't see you falling^^

    Hope you were alright :)

  • Aw, he didn't get the actual fall? No fun, lol. What that girl said was right, but you still looked good. I found two barns in Medina that focus mainly on dressage that we should try out, if you want.

  • Oh also, I like to ride with them one hole up but my instructor keeps telling me its too short.. She's getting past her prime though and honestly there are times when I find youtube users to be more helpful then her.

Oh yeah, Beau still free jumps pretty high on his own, and he'll take a medium sized fence with lots of enthusiasm.. He loves to do it and I only ever work with him if he's been sound for four weeks at least. =)

  • Thank you =) I have a better video of the actual jumping position work we did. I just can't get it to upload. I'm having problems with my feet. I understand where the irons should be, I just don't know why my feet slide in so far. Its a consistent problem for the last month or so, which tells me that something I changed is causing it. Also I have some bones fused in my feet but I try the best to make them do what I want lol..

Anyway, thanks for the advice, I appreciate it =)

  • Well first off, I'm surprised you'd jump this old man ;). He looks great at 35 but in my opinion you should let him enjoy a retirement. As for the jumping position, do not roach your back. Straighten out a bit and get your head up. Another HUGE thing is for you to not cram your feet into the stirrups. The idea is for them to be on the ball of your foot, or just past your toes. You need these for a support system and balance help, also shorten your stirrups a hole or two to help out with that :)
