  • Some insulations may have some glass content, but what I was using contains recycled paper products

  • I thought fiberglass has glass

  • Correction: you should emphasize that it IS very important to wear the mask, and eye protection also. Those fibres are inorganic and small enough to get lodged in the lungs. ask any old insulator.

  • i get the vapour barrier on the warm side, but why the moisture barrier on the cold side - wouldn't that trap condensation in between the two plastic sheets?

  • @BabyNSX No it should not because the moisture barrier is not sealed except on the bottom so it can still breath. The main purpose is to redirect any moisture or frost that may come through your concrete from being able to come in contact with the insulation, framing or drywall. All of which mold likes to form on.The moisture barrier is called for in the national building code of Canada just in case you are wondering. If you have other questions about anything, try my new forum on my site.

  • That's crazy cause here in America we don't do all that stuff!

  • @j5pointoh Depends alot on your climate. Always check with your local building code enforcers.

  • Sorry but this is wrong , never put poly against the wall like that , look at all the moisture he trapped at the start. That is just asking for mold. There is many videos on here warning of this ....

  • @cdnpaydirt You are right there are many people who say this is wrong in thier mind, but this is part of the national building code in Canada. The only time you would not be required to do it is if you are using spray foam insulation right on the concrete wall.

  • @cdnpaydirt What you are seeing on the wall behind the moisture barrier is actually dry efflorescence powder from the concrete wall.

  • My girlfriend and I live in a trailer, how would I know if I have insulation or not? I did have to replace the plumbing for the shower knob fixture and there is none there. So I am assuming there is none anywhere. Do I have to cut a hole and look or is there another way? Thanks!

  • Very informative video - thanks!

  • Does there need to be a vapor barrier when doing a renovation not in the basement?

  • @WideBodyAccord Yes absolutely you need a vapor barrier on any outside wall, ceiling or floor. Remember the vapor barrier must be on the warm side of the insulation. The only time you would not need this is if you are insulating with a sprayfoam that is rated as a insulator and a air/vapor barrier.

  • @HouseImprovements

Thanks I wasn't sure. I'm in the midst of renovating my bedroom right now. Getting ready to insulate. Thanks, Jason

  • I found this info very useful, Thank-you

  • Why are you not wearing gloves, a long sleeve shirt, safety goggles, and a fiberglass approved dust mask?

  • @speedracer210 cause he doesn't have to!!

  • Well done!

  • Nice video thanks!

  • Good job!
