I'm 41 and like a lot of people commenting here, I grew up with this stuff and had this melody echoing in my head for years. It makes me bummed that some parents would think this is unsuitable for kids now. Huh?? It's terrific stuff. I remember as a kid digging the weird trippiness of these animations-- it kept my attention and I learned the numbers. The music is super-cool-- very cutting-edge for its time-- and Grace Slick? Utterly brilliant-- she recites the numbers with such wild zeal.
You'd never get away with this creepy freaked out style now...the lawsuits from tapioca/milque-toast yuppie parents would come flying in. I grew up on this stuff and am just fine.
By the way, the electric harpsichordy thing you hear is called a Clavinet, sister to two other proto synth intstruments of the time, the Farfisa and Mellotron.

Yes the vocals by Grace Slick, music by the prog-jazz musician Denny Zeitlin - both of the San Francisco 60's "scene". Though he still plays and releases albums, Zeitlin became a psychiatrist in his spare time and composed the something of minor cult score for Phillip Kaufman's '78 remake of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers."
