I had respect for this guy until I realized something....
.
"The UN is but a long-range, international banking apparatus clearly set up for financial and economic profit by a small group of powerful One-World revolutionaries, hungry for profit and power. " - Curtis Dall, FDR's son-in-law as quoted in his book, My Exploited Father-in-Law
.
In the U.N. speech he is calling for exactly what the end game is meant to be.
Tun, you spend a lot to develop the country & u progress so fast, the Malays c'not cope up. Some malays blame you when THEY should be blamed in the first place for being pampered!! Unfortunately, you always (seemed) to appoint the "wrong" guys!! You walk your talk & you execute without fear - formidable in a multi racial setting. May God bless you with good health.
Actually Malaysia has a rivalry with Singapore, and when Dr. Mahathir was in charge he had the will to elevate Malaysia to advanced economy status. He commissioned the building of Petronas Towers that was once the highest buildings in the world (that would raise its awareness among foreign investors) and started Proton to tell the world Malaysians can make cars too.
However the Malays are not wealth-pursuers nor are they progressive - they only desire an easy and simple life.
This world-view happened to contradict with Tun's, and hindered the country's further development as a result, and that probably explained why he got upset and called the Malays "lazy" near the end of his career as Prime Minister.
Malaysia has resources and everything Singapore doesn't, and so logically with just a bit of a push it could achieve great things in this world. It is just that he lacked the will of the indigenous people to help even in that minimal drive

to realize his vision. I find it doubtful that any future leader of the country would ever have an ambition that is like his.
Probably only in foreign affairs, not home.
