Netbooks are, for the most part, junk. I've had an Acer Aspire one, Samsung NC10, Sony M series, and currently an Acer Ferrari One 200. The others I found unusable. The Sony especially. The Ferrari i like - it's actually fast enough to do things other than basic web browsing. The rest are only suitable for basic web browsing and that's it, which I can do on my iPhone 4 anyway, making them redundant.

The inconveniences are made compulsory by Intel and Microsoft.

Reason: Intel and Microsoft are too afraid to replace the whole Laptop market with such cheaper laptops.

In fact, a bigger screen and a bigger keyboard would cost less than $50 to add, but they won't let you do it.

Intel already lost 95% of their profit margins and Microsoft loses 75% of their profit margins because of the Netbooks.

The real revolution comes with 15" $200 ARM Linux Android/Ubuntu models that are imminent.

Using cloud computing you can actually run more powerful web based applications. The battery life is going to be 20 hours, thinner, lighter and definitely much cheaper.

yes, because we all must have the absolutely most powerful and huge computer, car, or whatever on the market, even if we wouldnt use half of its capabilities.

if this guy really wanted to make the compromise point, he should have also included the compromise that netbooks give you compared to smaller devices, like smart phones and MIDs. as it is, he has only done half his jobtruly a man of compromise.

Those specs may  not meet Super Duper Crysis Special Amazing Friggin Edition requisites, but are far enough to WORK. But maybe computers were not intended for that, my fault.

Netbooks are definitely fast enough for games, photoshop and video editing. I've done all of the above on a netbook that didn't even have an Atom (~700Mhz Celeron).

They're AMAZING at their job, low priced, extremely portable, and simple computing and internet browsing

They weren't meant for games, photoshop, etc, sure they can run photoshop, but it's extremely slow, and who would ever want to edit photos/play games on a tiny screen?
