I'm going to adopt one when my career turns around, this is our traditional family dog. Clan Hunter of Scotland has a Greyhound for it's badge symbol. I saw one in life this summer and knew they are right for me.
I love greyhounds, i used to have one and he was adopted, he had tattoos in his ears from when he was a racer. I looked him up and he was very good and made tons of money. Sadly he only lived 8 months when I had him because he was raced too much. These pictures remind me of him. Great slideshow
My best friend is a brindle female Greyhound named Depeche. She is a retired racer. She is beautiful, sweet, kind, loving, attentive...everything a best friend should be. I love her so much! Greyhounds are the best pets ever.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I understand what you're going through. Our greyhound died just a few days ago and now our home seems so empty. None of us even want to be home right now because it's no lonely without him.
@alexise1214 in time it will get easier, but it really is hard as i know too well. it was such a shock for us when he died. we still have our female lurcher (his wife!) who is lapping up all our extra love. sad times in a family when you loose your loyal friend.

These hounds do need a good amount of exercise to stay in good condition. You might
find a fenced in safe area to let the hound run
off-leash twice per week. A Greyhound that is never allowed to run (which is his anatomical pattern) is deprived of what he loves most: running. Of course I talk about young healthy hounds. Maybe you can find a senior hound

i mean as far as *gasp* off leash time, and prey drive and eating at regimented time, etc.. they are the, i mean THE easiest, most intelligent and laziest dogs i have ever encountered.

i have 3 retired racers & an italian greyhound & birds of all sizes & shapes at home. i also own a dog daycare. my dogs have NEGATIVE prey drive...like NONE. whether greys or not, some dogs will have a high prey drive, some won't. & all four of mine are always off leash. the argument that they could get away is dumb. what dog COULD you catch if it took off on you? not even a basset hound! cheap food = bad skin, hence the dandruff. people forgetting they're still just dogs gets OLD.
Greyhounds love to run, it's their anatomical pattern. So you should find a fenced in area or safe place to let your hound enjoy free run at least twice per week. It's contributes to his good health.
not very well. My next door neighbour has a tiny white poodle and my dog is an ex-racer. Quite frankly I think that Roxy(greyhound) would see the poodle next door as a small,white and fluffy rabbit to chase.

I didn't get my hounds from an Adoption Agency and I didn't have to sign any contract. My hounds entred my home as puppies and are used to enjoy free run
I got my greyhound from an adoption centre and he's fine off the leash. I can let him off pretty much anywhere as long as there's not traffic. Just try him/her a little bit at a time in a quiet place.
I have a black and grey grey hound and a shih tzu. The shih tzu is 7 years old and the grey hound is 4. you could stack 4 of my shih tzu's to reach its head. At first i thought the match up t of the two dogs would not work out due to the massive size difference (false) my grey hound will not leave the side of my shih tzu they sleep together play together and eat together. i'm kinda worried about what will happen after the shih tzu die's I'm scared that my grey will go into depression.

They need a special collar tht tightens as you pull on it, b/c their heads are so slender a regular collar would slip right off. Also, part of greyhound culture is to show off your dog's beauty, sometimes with an elegant tapestry collar.

I love my brindle boy Knobs he is truly a great dog. SpeedDog77 there's not much you have to prep except may be a bed they can snooze on and their food/water dish...lol...they are the easiest dog to care for that I've ever had and I have two small boys that love their Knobbsy

followed the male only 8 months later. She got very depressed, lost her appetite, lost her life spirits and
got a strange deadly cancer. It was the worst time of my life and I still can't look at my video without crying.
They take away part of our hearts...

Many Greyhounds will chase cats and small furry animals but that depends on the hound. I have known
Greyhounds that live perfectly together with cats and small dogs. For my two Greyhounds that would have
been impossible. They had an extremely high prey-drive and would chase and even kill cats.
Greyhounds are adorable with people but do need at least twice per week good off´leash running
sessions in order to stay in good shape. Daily longer walks are recommended too.

This video had me in floods of tears... i lost my greyhound lurcher last month, far too soon he was only 7 and such a huge part of our family.
They are amazing animals, and it is a hole that nothing can replace.

i love him to bits and even though this is his third year with us I am still seeing different elements to his character all the time
i dont know what I'd do without him
those who dont have a dog and are thinking of getting one I definitely recommend getting a greyhound
and plus there are so many out there who need a home and have been mistreated
so please adopt a greyhound
once you get one you understand :)

I can reccomend a Greyhound over any other breed of dog, as they are calm, quiet and wouldn't hurt a fly. (unless the fly was made of cheese)

My older Greyhound (light brindle male)

Greyhounds love to run, it's their anatomical pattern. So you should find a fenced in area or safe place to let your hound enjoy free run at least twice per week. It's contributes to his good health.

not very well. My next door neighbour has a tiny white poodle and my dog is an ex-racer. Quite frankly I think that Roxy(greyhound) would see the poodle next door as a small,white and fluffy rabbit to chase.

Mine lives very happily with a 18 year old Maltese who bullies him shamefully and a cat who is obsessed with licking his nose. He is more patient than Job.

I would love to own a greyhound but many that I have petted have bad dander problem. I have only seen 2 that had an awsome coat of fur.

I like Greyhounds running free in huge open spaces or the beach.
I find it absolutely unfair to shut them into
tiny boxes awaiting a race. Greyhounds
love to race but they don't like to get closed into tiny prisons for the rest of the
time.

I totally agree with you. Free, harmless and happy running is the way to enjoy their natural gift. Not exploiting and abusing it like in races.

Hi,
I didn't get my hounds from an Adoption Agency and I didn't have to sign any contract. My hounds entred my home as puppies and are used to enjoy free run
since puppy age in safe areas. They
are obedience trained.

I got my greyhound from an adoption centre and he's fine off the leash. I can let him off pretty much anywhere as long as there's not traffic. Just try him/her a little bit at a time in a quiet place.

I have a black and grey grey hound and a shih tzu. The shih tzu is 7 years old and the grey hound is 4. you could stack 4 of my shih tzu's to reach its head. At first i thought the match up t of the two dogs would not work out due to the massive size difference (false) my grey hound will not leave the side of my shih tzu they sleep together play together and eat together. i'm kinda worried about what will happen after the shih tzu die's I'm scared that my grey will go into depression.

They need a special collar tht tightens as you pull on it, b/c their heads are so slender a regular collar would slip right off. Also, part of greyhound culture is to show off your dog's beauty, sometimes with an elegant tapestry collar.

Hey, Amazing video great job! Im thinking of buying a greyhound, i just love them and i already have a little jack russel shes 4 but im having trouble teaching her not to run (she tries to run when we open the door) because we live by a busy street and it scares me every time. Do you have any tips i can try to train her? i would like to learn before i buy a greyhound. Thanks

I love my brindle boy Knobs he is truly a great dog. SpeedDog77 there's not much you have to prep except may be a bed they can snooze on and their food/water dish...lol...they are the easiest dog to care for that I've ever had and I have two small boys that love their Knobbsy

You are right, they are wonderful dogs
BUT they do need a good amount of regular exercise (off-leash running possibilities) to stay healthy and in good
condition. Of course at home a couch or bed is perfect for them to feel comfy...

thank you so much for posting such a beautiful display of these animals. no one really knows how incredible they are until they own one. we have 2 rescues, a 10 yr old fawn female, and a 5 yr old dark brindle male, and they are the loves of our lives. they make us laugh and cry all at the same time. your video truly captures both of these - and there are many photos that emulate exactly our grey's fantastic personalities. thank you again

Beautiful , "higher beings" i think every one should own them because:They truly know the meaning of retirement , They don't bark, keeping your neighbourhood safe for burglars
,They are the only dogs that know how to really smile and A Greyhound is the most amazing sight you will ever hope to see in your life they are wonderful pets please save them from the kennels...or death!
