  • This is Ramy Essam singing "The Donkey and the Foal," a poem by revolutionary poet Ahmed Fouad Negm. The foal said to the donkey, "Father, hand me the cart. Father, you have aged and now it is my turn."

The donkey coughed too strongly and the passengers panicked.

"It isn't about health, son," the donkey said. " Even the bridle is too big for you, son. Think and don't be greedy, or the passengers will rise up."

  • who is this group?? are they a band there? I like them!

  • great, but for "rock concert", look up: MC5 " Rambling Rose " 1970

  • Congratulations great Egypt

  • Heathens in harmony with each other! lol

  • A revolution without music is a revolution not worth having

  • The kindles are just getting warm. Just you watch, the kindle will reach the log and the light will shine so bright - if we keep tending to the fire.

  • Congrats Tunisia and Egypt: You are the leaders of The People's Revolution.

Extra props to Wikileaks and the beautiful soul who had enough and sacrificed his life by setting himself on fire in protest. His death is so unfortunate and we miss him, but his Karma is increased every time a human being stands up for their right to be free from tyranny. He will never know that he changed the world but the world will never forget that he started a global Beautiful Revolution.

  • You have a rock concert first...then you have riot , you guys got this all backward.

  • Sharia law isn't freedom, I hope these people are fighting for the right cause.

  • @BorderlineOffensive Enough with the Glenn Beck fearmongering, will you? The protesters' demands are pretty easy to find everywhere on the net.

  • @28g34ajbsd youre such a simple man

  • @BorderlineOffensive Being "simple" is spewing Beck/Richard Cohen talking points while disregarding who organizes the protests, what conditions sparked it, what Egypt is like, what the protesters' (secular, legal, Constitutionalist) demands are, what the chants/signs say, being able only to register the words "Muslim Brotherhood" and shitting your pants cause your gov't/FNC taught you to equate anyone called Mohammad with a theocratic terrorist or whatnot. Now thAt's simple.

  • @BorderlineOffensive If I were a complex guy like you, I'd be more worried about the 70+ million American Christians who believe in angels, witchcraft, creationism, the oncoming Rapture, building trees on occupied Arab land in the West Bank and the "inevitable" "clash of civilizations," but not global warming (which even Bin Laden admits is real & manmade), or any kind of science (be it natural, social or political), or that bombing abortion clinics constitutes acts of terrorism.

  • haha I love how you say "even Bin Laden" as though he's an authority on Global Warming. Never heard that argument before "well Bin Laden agrees so it must be true." Haha what the hell is that? @28g34ajbsd

  • @BorderlineOffensive Mind your own business, take ur hate somewhere else, many Egys christians and muslims are religious but this revolution isnt religiously based, we want an Egypt big for all. And please dnt talk about Sharia law wn u havent had a clue wt does that even mean. Thanks for ur support though

  • well arent you a simple man

  • Any Arabic speakers want to provide a rough translation? Particularly curious about the possible mention of "Obama" at 1:00-

    Call it an American-centric request.

  • @BenGarwin

    that's tamaa, greed

  • @BenGarwin He didn't say "Obama" he said " o battal " and stop. The song is a funny poem about an old donkey that refused to let a younger donkey ride for stupid reasons (he doesn’t have the experience, he is young, etc). The situation is similar to what Mubarak is doing he doesn’t want to step down claiming that if he leaves there will be violence and the country will lose its stability..etc

  • Anyone know what he's singing ....in English?

  • @blearyeyed09 The song is a funny poem about an old donkey that refused to let a younger donkey ride for stupid reasons (he doesn’t have the experience, he is young, etc). • @7adrmya Hey thanks for that translation......good song for the occasion!

  • i am a mathematian and noting send chills down my body more that the human spirit, Whats happending in Egypt is a testiment to the fact that no oppressing force can prevent the human spirit from expressing herself. The human spirit is that thing that binds us together and allow us humanity to feel the pain that our fellow Egypts feel.... i dont know where i am going with this but my point is that democracy is nature and pure, hence every human being deserves to be free. Egypt will be Free......

  • Egypt I am with you!

  • People should stagedive and run a circle pit with their camels!

  • ORGANIZE! Select delegates from each neighborhood and begin to constitute yourselves! Don't let outside parties sully what you are fighting for. Organize and redress grievances. Exercise democracy, right now, in the square, and find your leaders who will speak for and lead you into tomorrow!

  • @DrLeroyGreen you are totally right , 2 days ago I heard they are doing that but I am not sure how far they got in that, I hope they are doing that truly.

  • now this just show me people are not leaving anytime soon

lots of admiration and inspiration from these people

  • its quite good music you know

  • I think this is getting ever worse then the people from egypt have been in before. Don't get me wrong on this, I do stand with the people try to get whatever they want to keep the peace and not live in fear and so on, we all want that. But we all have to realize, unless those at the top of the piramid are still in control, we must not yet already party too much! History tells it all that.

    Peace, love, understanding!

  • @michelb08 watch this week, ppl r firm on demands, system slowly falling down. thanks for ur support

  • I see alot of people using cell phones in the crowd...I thought that there was no outside access..I was told that the internet was shut off in Egpyt..and so was cell phones services..is that right?..or did i hear that wrong?

  • @Midnightryder7 That is correct, internet, cell phones and sms services along w blocking sm news channels was done during the 1st week of the revolution they brought them back gradually and now most are functioning not sure sms service is fully on or not.
