  • "In a very real sense, it will not be one man going to the moon it will be an entire nation. For all of us must work to put him there." - John F. Kennedy. This is what i think of every time I hear this. People wonder why we have never been back to the moon, they never stop to think that they must make the choice to go back. "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country"- JFK

  • I had forgotten the beautiful score in this movie. I loved the movie, and love James Horner's music, but somehow missed this. Guess what soundtrack I'll be purchasing next? Many thanks!

  • 12:54 thru 13:40 best part omg.

  • Humankind didnt reach the moon...

the United States of America did.

  • @SHM1953 What a terrible way to think.

  • @WhyYouJelly

ok, mark me down as terrible then.

I dont recall any UN meetings where any other country offered to help fund it.

(like Canada did with the shuttle)

So, if we pay for it, we get to take the credit.

  • @SHM1953 >we

    >implying you had anything to do with the landing

your patriotism and naivety is painful, do your research and you'll see that it was german, british, canadian and american scientists that all contributed. Without german developments in the 30's and 40's we wouldn't have even reached space.

Your 'if we pay for it' argument is retarded

  • @WhyYouJelly

Your stating the obvious. We all know that Von Braun came to us from Germany after the war.

And what did I have to do with it? My tax dollars paid for it. We as a nation have now lost the will to fund it due to Obama and liberals who think the money is better spent at home on social programs like building more free housing for illegal immigrants.

Obama's legacy will be as the President who killed the space program.

  • @SHM1953 Yes exactly what Im talking about in my above comment. It is our responsibility to voice what we want to happen in this country. We must start with educating the public.

  • @WhyYouJelly

I have to agree with SHM1953 on this one. I don't think he/she is saying only those of American heritage put a craft in space, but that the US had the will, skill, and money to do it. I'm proud of my country for its (past) space program. And, for footing the bill, the American taxpayer is entitled to state that the US accomplished this feat, while realizing that by only standing on the shoulders of giants was it possible.

  • @TheAbboomer Ugh. I agree with that, but look at his first comment. It's a terrible way to think, similar to saying "hey USA won WW2". It staples us all under one brush - the stereotypical "HURR DURR WE ARE NUMBER ONE" mentality that only 10% of the population has, but by the world that's considered more like 90% of us. Really, I'm not saying we shouldn't be patriotic but when people start coming out with stupid statements (typical youtube user comment) it just annoys and makes us look dumb.

  • @WhyYouJelly Lucky for you that 10% is around because without them, you'd be speaking German right now.

  • @SHM1953 BAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @SHM1953 I love how you actually believe this. Are you from kansas?

  • @WhyYouJelly

Your still living with and sponging off Mom and Dad but have the world figured out huh?

Your just a dumb kid with a keyboard and I'm done with you.

    Your money's on the dresser.

  • @SHM1953 You're*

  • Damn this soundtrack really chokes me up.

  • who found themselves covering the picture of the earth with their thumb?

  • At 1 guy don't like this Soundtrack, ok, but in don't understand why he listen it!....

  • I love you, man! I LOVE Apollo 13's soundtrack!! Thank you so much for sharing! xo

  • I never get tired listening to this! Fantastic!

  • When Atlantis touches down for the final time this song should be used as part of the Shuttle retirement ceremony.

  • @Erik0072

Good idea. There should be a massive orchestra at the landing strip

  • the piece that starts around 3:10 is one of the most beautiful written for a movie

  • @lane0065 James Horner...the greatest composer of all time

  • This is beautiful. Thank you for such a high quality upload :)

  • Beautiful

  • such a beautiful score.

  • This is some of my favorite music. It has inspired me to become a composer. Thank you so much for posting!

  • 妻と知り合って始めて見た映画です。プロポーズした後日。忘れませんあの頃必死でした。

  • Brought Apollo 13 on bluray last week and there’s not much of difference. The film was shot in that rotten Super35 I mean scope 2.35:1 doesn’t get any faker with Super35! I absolutely hate Super35 the film as been formatted to so many various versions on VHS laserdisc DVD and bluray and no TV! SIGH

I prefer genuine anamorphic lenses! Apollo 13 isn’t true anamorphic. I can only cringe to what the IMAX version must have looked like.

  • Nice mix dude

  • @Lordhelmchen76

I think the slow/fast fade came at the wrong time 02:32 02:41 It might sound better if its tightened up by a few seconds Maybe? I've listened to this score a month before the film was released WOW, trying to visualize the images to score well I was near, but was quite blow-away when I saw it at 24fps up on HUGE SCREEN with BIG SOUND!

Why does the moon look like green cheese shouldn't it be a grey colour? lol

  • Thanks for posting.....Really love this Score...

  • No I don't like the edit fades, some are a bit abrupt sounding some work some don't.

I've seen Apollo13 some 12 times at the cinema while watching THX laserdisc at home some 10 minutes after leaving the cinema. Once in dts and it sound rubbish because the cinema failed as they had no sub bass for the LFE.1 channel. The other local cinema only played it in Dolby Stereo 4.2.4 matrix and it sounded many times better, but not as good as the Empire in London, wished I saw it in THX 13KW JBL

  • I also known the fades compressed into a shorter time is a teaser so that we listen and then go and buy the CD.

  • @EmpireLS56KW Try the IMAX in Denver Colorado, its fuckin brutal.

  • @mikemcdonald100 “fuckin brutal” LOL I like the sound of that LOL

I forget to mention the original first UK Lucasfilm THX cinema JBL at High Wycombe that was voted so a friend told me, 8th best THX sound system in the world! And that it was! Too bad UCI didn’t keep it going as THX it was out of this world!

  • Thank you so much for this! I love the score to Apollo 13 so much.

    James Horner's an amazing composer!

  • Don’t get me wrong I don’t hate Apollo 13 I just hate the fact it was photographed in Super35 rather then just going with real guanine anamorphic cameras and lenses.

  • The dtsHD master audio not much of difference in fact 0 difference between the dts THX laserdisc, DVD Dolby digital first edition and second edition (special edition) Dolby digital/dts none what so ever. In fact the dts THX laserdisc is a few db louder! It doesn’t mean its better. There is thing called “master volume” to turn it down and make dtsHD master audio sound like crap and then turn it up for DOLBY TrueHD to make it sound like the dogs bollocks!
