I've researched this issue through movies; Requiem, Emily Rose read Wikipedia on this matter and this video. It all started when I watched the movie "The Rite", I then did some research on the Movie Exorcism based on a real story of a boy in 1952. The parents had nowhere to turn to save anneliese they though the only way to save her was through spiritual praying, That was their belief, exorcisms don't always work but they thought that is what she needed. I'm confused by the prosecution's medical testimony. Psychogenic seizures (pseudoseizures) are one thing, but it sounds like they were arguing that she had a legit, brain-based seizure disorder that was successfully controlled by medications and therefore the seizures had to express themselves through psychosis. That is bizarre and as far as I know, not supported by science. They confounded neurology and psychoanalysis in a very suspicious way.

Man will never understand nor care to believe that these things exist. Not religious but I do believe in the Father and Son. As a child I saw, felt and heard these types of things all the time in my room. I've researched this issue through movies; Requiem, Emily Rose read Wikipedia on this matter and this video. It all started when I watched the movie "The Rite", I then did some research on the Movie Exorcism based on a real story of a boy in 1952. If they would bring those people to a doctor who could diagnose and medicate them well, that would be the bigger help. Bipolar disorder, Schiziphrenie (I don`t know the english spelling), whatever... Religion doesn´t heal it. I think that Anneliese had a psychotic reaction from her anti-epileptic medication which is a side-effect.

I'm confused by the prosecution's medical testimony. Psychogenic seizures (pseudoseizures) are one thing, but it sounds like they were arguing that she had a legit, brain-based seizure disorder that was successfully controlled by medications and therefore the seizures had to express themselves through psychosis. That is bizarre and as far as I know, not supported by science. They confounded neurology and psychoanalysis in a very suspicious way.

Whether Catholic or Baptist, it's agreed that demonic possession is real. I'm convinced she was. What I see here, by Anneliese's testimony of her moments of divine 'comfort', she was aware and prepared to become a martyr; so that others might be saved by her experiance. Many would see this as highly cruel for a 'loving' God. I believe Anneliese only appeared to suffer, for God comforted her along the way- with a promise that she would never suffer again, and soon be at peace- all pain forgotten.

Whatever the symptoms, the causes can be many. Perhaps she had sever hyperthyroidism, as some people do- but just because she shows symptoms, doesn't mean it's the cause. It's ok to look to science, because science is GOOD. Just don't throw it around like it has all the answers. Some things refuse to be explained. Science is only a tool.

When the King James bible came out, it was like food and water to thirsty souls. Up to that point the great majority of the people had to believe what man told them it said. If that man had little faith or were simply wrong in what he believed, those that listened to him, though sincere, followed his same errors. In listening to some of the audios on this attempt at exorcism, it is apparent the priests were seeking information from the devils on the possible validity of the holy water and other symbols. @puckkuf Part 3 here is a girl who was obviously sincere, trapped in possession and the believers she was confronted with didn't have enough faith to help this her. Pride and religious tradition kept them from reaching out to others...anyone else that had more faith and experience.

@puckkuf They did have faith in the religous system of exorcism.You might want to view the videos again. As narrator explains in the videos that she and her parents seeked medical professionals(Medical Physicians, Sycholigist) for help in the begining of her ordeal. Just only when they realized that this was not a medical problem that she and her parents stopped seeking medical help. Unfortunately, these things do exist, the devil, evil spirits, ghosts, and even UFOs.

Man will never understand nor care to believe that these things exist. Not religious but I do believe in the Father and Son. As a child I saw, felt and heard these types of things all the time in my room. I grew up afraid and without real explanation as my grandparents were devout (organized religion) Christians and always said to me when I asked questions or tried to tell them of the things I was seeing, "Do not talk about these things and just pray". So, I grew up scared for years.

@galenmark the religious make up the majority. I was brought up christian by the way. Telling a person who is mentally unstable that their delusions of demons are real is extremly counter productive to their recovery.

@Slanguaj This would have been easier if you had paid attention to the video. She was NOT mentally unstable. She was spiritually possessed. After the doctor diagnosed her with granmal epilepsy, an EEG showed she was COMPLETELY normal, befuddling and confusing the doctors. Humans are made up of emotions, intellect, body and SPIRIT. Those who deny the spirit can never see the entire picture. Life has been made so easy for us we dispatch our creator. Its the beginning of the end, always.

@galenmark Just because the video suggested she was actually possessed, doesn't mean she actually was. In tribal cultures they invite possession and view it as a positive. They go into fits of ectasy, much like the people who are healed by evangelists. But you can bet they don't talk about the virgin mary or lucifer, because that's not their culture. If anneliese wasn't a christian, she would have interpreted the experience differently.

@Slanguaj It also doesn't mean she wasn't, but having centuries of experience(unwanted albeit) in these matters, I'm sure the church, which does agressive background work and has to run it all the way up the ladder to the Vatican, knows more than you do. Could you please explain how this young lady answered the inquiring priests in Chineze? Its a language she was unfamiliar with, yet had perfect diction, as well as in Latin, a language she had heard, but didn' t speak. You don't want to believe
