@Kyruis Not simple, logical. The conference was "how to survive and thrive", the question "how do we get out of the recession" was the most logical one that could have been asked. alan did make some good points, but his ignorance and complete unsympathetic attitude for those who are suffering (unlike him with his £800 million) got in the way of that!
His flippancy is worrying. There IS a recession and it's grassroots economic growth the government should be doing more to encourage, ie. small businesses...
assist as in lie ?

He's right. The media are getting as much mileage out of this as it can. Until they take the spotlight off we'll never recover.

until your job is lost, then you may be grateful of a bit of media spotlight!

I lost it in January and decided to go to university actually. So I can speak as someone that has been affected by it.

He doesn't really have any money troubles' so how does he know?

Not sure I'd want the economy run by people who have money worries. What would that say about an economist's competence?

What? He isn't the one that has to go to the bank to try and arrange a loan (he doesn't need to, that was my point).
Manufacturing hasn't really been touched by this downturn. Thats why these guys are confident.
