I don't see anything wrong with some people throwing on gloves and swinging. The biggest danger is not having anyone with emergency care training nearby, and the chances you will need something like that are pretty slim.
What's bad for the sports is if one of these kids gets hurt. The kid in the video in the yellow shorts is Michael. After this aired he came to my school to challenge us and he ended up joining our gym. He's been with us 2 yrs now and last month he turned 18 and had his first real MMA fight that he won in less then 15 sec with a KO. He is fighting again tonight at another sanctioned fight. The ref in the video is no longer throwing back yard fights and is a big supporter of our school now.
