From what people were telling me there is a scanner which automatically checks new videos for recognizable audio waves. Many videos which are posted are from years ago before they began using this technology and there's a backlog of older vids to check but, "they get around to them." That's why sometimes you see a video that has been on for 5 years is suddenly "removed due to copyright claim."

Also, when you view your copyright info, does it give a list of the countries where it is blocked? I have other videos where they are only blocked in Germany for some reason. One is also a WMG artist and they've allowed it after attaching ads.

@MrJackShrredder When this video was initially blocked, it simply said it was blocked WORLDWIDE. Yes, Germany is full of nonsense with blocking. Many of my copyrights are listed under my videos with a "Buy at iTunes, amazon and elsewhere. I have one other WMG song - also blocked WORLDWIDE, but it is a Christian song by Amy Grant and it is up on another account I have. Now, I have opened that one up to the public, but it still remains blocked. Maybe they like my face on this channel, Jack. LOL

It appears that YouTube has lifted the worldwide block on this video and it can now be viewed worldwide. It still has a WMG copyright on it, but it appears to no longer be blocked. I hope all those who have written asking me about this will come and watch it.

I had the same problem when I first uploaded it. I had it on Private for a while, then one day I made it public, posted to my Ian gillan video and it started to get views - VERY SLOWLY at first. Then, one day I noticed that the copyright info was changed, and it was being embedded on different sites. I am not sure how unblocked it has been, but just lately, the views have been slowly rising. I hope they lift the copyright soon. They have done that with me before.

@Afrikitty I see, thanks for the info. I did it the opposite, first I had it public then when it was blocked I tried switching it to private but a message came up saying I can't switch the status. Blocking on Youtube seems to be so random, they have dozens of the same song up, then they'll cherrypick one out of the bunch and block or mute it. Who knows what's going on with these guys.

@MrJackShrredder Hi there, I wanted to find out if you ever got your issue resolved with WMG and this song you tried to upload. According to my copyright information,, while copyright has not been lifted, the worldwide ban appears to be lifted. Yet the views are going up very slowly, so I am not sure who can and who cannot see this video. Man, it is a great version of this song - the best I have heard.

Could you let me know how your situation went. WMG has twice lifted a worldwide block for me.

@Afrikitty Well, I tried uploading it again with the identicle result. As I was going to post it from my other channel on which I have several videos, and after doing some research from other peoples experience on disputing copyrights, I decided against the dispute process as many people have had their channels removed entirely after unsuccessful disputes. And again, I see others posted successfully with both audio and original music video. Mine was audio only with my video interpretation.

@MrJackShrredder I never dispute these blocks, Jack. I can't be bothered, to be quite honest. But this video intrigues me somewhat. I have had WMG slap a copyright on a song that had been uploaded for more than 6 months already. I was very nervous about that becuase it has the highest views on my channel. Then, about 6 months later, the ENTIRE copyright just disappeared. *poof* like a fairy...LOL

I have other WMG copyrights that don't get blocked ANYWHERE. It is Sony/BMG that blocks in Germany,

I didn't think it was necessary to have the young Gillan up against a young Robert Plant. The two men have completely different voices. Diehard Gillan fans, such as yours truly, love his voice even today. Plant fans will adore him above all others until they day they die.

This is a "bootleg" version of "Ship of Fools". It has a WMG copyright on it, so not everybody can see it. It is blocked worldwide. I am hoping they will lift that block. It's a great rendition.

I don't get the comparison Gillan "Gethsemane" studio vs. Plant "Ship of Fools" live... Gillan sang that in 1970 and Plant's song is from 1988. You should have chosen a Led Zeppelin song from 1970 for a comparison or both Plant and Gillan live today. Plant's voice was damaged around 1972/1973 after a surgery and lan Gillan had some similar vocal problems around 1982, I think. So a Gillan in his prime vs. a damaged and aging Plant is not a fair comparison.
