oh boy, apparently this video is giving you false hope that montreal is beautiful.. its just like new york, pretty with all the lights but if you live there you find out that it is a very dangerous, criminally surrounded island. fuck montreal! id rather keep my life then always worrying if im gonna get jumped by a street gang
@tamithomas You might find you're being a bit hard on Montreal. I live near Philadelphia which despite being half the size of Montreal, has 8 times as many murders (400/year vs 50). I've lived near Baltimore, and if you're in that downtown at night, you'll be approached by at least one beggar every block. I'm sure it has it's share of crime, particularly car theft, but it's not nearly as bad as some cities.
@tamithomas apparently you never set foot in Montreal in your life, Montreal is very peaceful and I feel very safe walking by myself anywhere I go in Montreal, of course I do not go around insulting people like you do, so maybe my experience of life is different than yours!
@carniala Correction, I was born and raised there and only moved away about 3 years ago. I never insulted anyone therefore your argument is invalid, please indicate where i placed a personal insult towards someone? Secondly, that is your choice to risk your life walking around without watching your back. I have been jumped several times, and have known many friends who faced dangerous situtations in the streets of Montreal. it is just my opinion, good day.
Wow it's like NYC but Canadian and much better. Although I have to say NY had some damn fine looking ladies on either end of the spectrum. Everything from blond and short to something on the ethnic side and even from Europe. Hmm, I'll just have to go and check it out. Can anyone from there tell me what the night life and ladies are like? I don't like models per se, but in NY you had your pick.
@HorreurCritique "The brits stoled the territory because the french didn't know how to defend" --> ha ha the French were completely outnumbered by the Angliche, the King of France was fighting the whole Europe and didn't want to send more troops to defend Quebec...
@mioritsa The national language in Canada is English. Just in the Quebec province, the first language is French; and the provinces New Brunswick and Nova Scotia are bilingual, so everyone speaks the both languages.
@ediancu I'm looking at going to Montreal for a working holiday in 2013, the year after I finish uni. I'm learning French at University but I doubt I will be fluent by the end of next year. In Montreal are they bilingual too? I don't want to get stuck with my French vocab and not be able to go to English. That's why i'm not going to France haha.
@mattchew02 You dont need to talk in french to live in Montreal! But French Canadian like me will always apreciate it if you try to talk in french ;)!
@mattchew02Montrealers are mostly bilingual , but if you go in the west island, it's an english community. when you'll be in montreal, You should try to speak in FRENCH, don't be shy! we're proud of our language and when strangers decide to say few words in french instead of taking the easy way (speaking in english), it's always a pleasure!!! montrealers are very patient and we're used to hear accents so don't worry!!!
@ediancu French and English are of equal status in Canada but anglophones outnumber francophones round 5 to 2. Quebec is French, New Brunswick is bilingual, and the rest of the provinces are english
@ediancu so in quebec specifically in montreal , we absolutely need to speak french to live and work there? will basic french work, assuming i pick up better skills in a few months?
@ediancu The official languages in Canada are English and French...Quebec's official language is french, New Brunswick's languages are both French and English and all the rest (Including NS) is English...
@ediancu I disagree with you completely for two reasons. Being a Canadian citizen from the western side of Canada, as I recall learning this in a high school level…Canada has two official languages. English and French.
For many people ALL over Canada, French is their first language. Not just in a specific province like Quebec, as you said. From a western Canadians perspective, we too also have bilingual people.
@mioritsa Canada is officially bilingual, having both English and French as official languages. Neither language takes precedence over the other in federal government agencies and in national affairs. English is the most widely spoken language in most of Canada, with the exception of the province of Québec which is predominantly French speaking.
@MrArmenian10 Nooo. I think what it has right now is perfect. Too many and the city feels too city like. It's good the way it is now. You start to block the sky out.
with sony cameras you can make good jobs, but amatorial, like i made this video. if you really want to make a proffessional videos, buy a big camera, use a trypod and sony vegas or avid.
however, montreal remains the best city and the most multicultural in the world.
@ediancu Excellent job my friend, I can't wait to visit Montreal, I've heard so many good things. I'll be moving to Buffalo in February so'll it will just be about a fourty minute flight.
@ediancu the national languageS of Canada are both english AND french. you will see more bilingualism in quebec than in other provinces, you don't agree?
