Growth hormones and other pollutants are in there. They increase the chance of cancer and other illnesses. Its not about seeing if GM foods have killed its about losing our right to grow healthier natural foods. That is better for us enviromentally and physically when we eat it.

What I have read are some really bad interpretations on alarmist blogs; interpretations which appear to ignore the definitions provided or equate the term "facility" with a person's home; which ignore the commercial aspects or the Title IV Enforcement limits (Feds only have jurisdiction over interstate issues; not someone's neighborhood).
By all means, point out specific sections of the bill and explain in detail why they should be especially alarming to American citizens. I'm more than happy to be schooled if you think you're street smart enough to teach me.

I've read H.R. 875 and have taken the time to attempt to comprehend it. The uproar by people who don't appear to have either read the bill or comprehended it is, to me, laughable.
By the way, I don't recall the word "organic" ever being used. Not that I'd expect to see it, since "organic" food is, if I'm not mistaken, regulated not by the DHHS, to which this bill applies, but the Dept of Agriculture.

What I have read are some really bad interpretations on alarmist blogs; interpretations which appear to ignore the definitions provided or equate the term "facility" with a person's home; which ignore the commercial aspects or the Title IV Enforcement limits (Feds only have jurisdiction over interstate issues; not someone's neighborhood).

So how many of you people upset about this will call your rep or email them and say "NOT ON MY WATCH DAMN IT" If this bill is that bad then WE need to stop it and the way to do that is make your voice known. If you do not speak up then nothing changes.

Great find on the article. I live in South GA, farming is the backbone of this area. From the big guys to the back yarder, who sell their wares on roadside stands. This is how many folks in my area make a living. I can't imagine this shit flying down here. I plan on getting this info out ASAP, I hope my local farmers are already on top of it. I am disturbed that one of our representatives, Sanford Bishop, is a co-sponsor of this bill. This will not end well here in the South.
