it should work fine with a mac, but you would need a firewire cable. I think macs come from the factory with a firewire port so it should work.

the viewfinder is in kind of a weird place, you have to smoosh your face against it to really see it completely. When you look through the viewfinder your nose might hit against the battery. It could be a problem if you had a big nose. The viewfinder is also not displaying the full quality you will have on your finished video.
