i remember this from music gcse, my favourite just because it was so good to listen to in the end of year exam with everyone in the class room tapping along with music.
the key is G flat major. I don't know how many singers there are but if your asking for your GCSE I doubt you'll need to know how many singers there are.
@hopdrop2 ow poor u I'm starting it early in yr 9 so I can do it early so I can do my other choices on top of 4 preps a night and drum, piano and singing practice so always think ureself lucky
To be quite honest, I much prefer this to Glory of the lord. That song makes me cringe when I think about it. YIRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII, yiri. XD
When I think of GCSE music I compare it to German, they're both impossible to get an A* and I dread them every week but then I listen to this and think this is far better than some random German kids with retarded voices speaking about how great their summer holidays were (no offence to Germans i'm sure the english guys in your listening exams sound retarded too)
@Hennerz632 I managed to get an easy A* in music this year, all you need to do is get great marks on your performance and composition, and you can practically walk into the the exam room with a C.
@Hennerz632 ha I know what u mean they do sound soooo retarded the worst ones are the french people they speak soooooo fast and I can neva understand them thats why I'm not takin french I'm takin German.I'm glad that I can do music early though so I can do all my other choices. what instruments do u play
@lovetosing228 French horn and Vocal.. I know they're not exactly the coolest instruments in the world but it helps playing a classical instrument with theory.
I think writing YIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII instead of vocals yiri is worth more marks... I hope ;)
I was dancing in my head to the beat when this song came on and it was played like 4 times and when they guy said "you have 3 minutes to answer the questions" I was like oh crap!
The structure one? The balafon ostinati was the bottom one that had the longest line. The first box on the left was the balafon break, the next one was the 'Yiri' then vocal 'call' and then there were the two on top of eachother I think? The top one was vocal 'response' and the bottom balafon 'response'. I don't know if it matters which one you put those two in, but it made more sense that way.
You will now here 'Yiri' for the first times (plays Tune) you will not here 'Yiri' for the first time. You will now here it for the 2nd time, and now the 4th and final time!
You will now here 'Yiri' for the first times (plays Tune) you will not here 'Yiri' for the first time. You will now here it for the 2nd time, and now the 4th and final time!
Gonna fail this exam so bad! The only pieces i know are "somethings coming" "Grace" and "why does my heart feel so bad".. mainly because i enjoy them!
@Pixiesayrawr nah its a rhythmic piece, so dont worry, if they ask anything about tonality ill happily eat my nut sack (i think its just a pentatonic melody anyway)

@mentalbreakdown123 Since about Debussy there has been considerable use of saxophone, if you look at villa lobos then it is a standard instrument in his wind part of the orchestra. He even wrote two concertos for saxophone and orchestra i think. Although personally, I think that music from that period would be better if the saxophone hadn't been invented...
