The ones they sell at walmart for $90 arent good. The action is ridiculously high, the pickups sound like they are wound with plastic, and they are made with wood of lower quality than the wood my desk is made of. These are things that a moderate guitar player could easily work around, but to a beginner it is frustrating and most of the time sounds terrible.

lol watever... personal opinion clearly! to me les pauls are to bulky to weighty and sit uncomfortably, but everyone has a favourite. all im saying is if u swap out the cruddy pickups in a standard FA guitar and put actives in it then the tone quality is just outstanding from low ends to high ends it just sounds perfect!

first act guitars are not as bad as people make them out to be. if you change to a higher quality pickup, you have a guitar sound comparible to a stratocaster.
On the First Act website, they have this exact guitar on sale for $49.99. I have the blue one, I paid $49.99 for mine, and it sounds at least as good as the Epiphone Junior I used to have (Musicians Friend sells the Junior for $129.99). The First Act Moderator series are very fine sounding thrash guitars, they weigh next to nothing, and the necks are outstanding. The tuners could be better, but then they wouldn't be selling them for $49.99. They are alot of fun, if you have the humility !
Depends on the Squier you are refering to. Some of the lower end bullets have an OSB body, the First Act is solid wood at least and the neck joint is tighter on the First Act. Of course an $800+ Gibson is better than this. Gibson LP is my favorite of all electrics but I like many types. This First Act is good for the price. Better than many $150 models available from other companies. This guitar is good if it's set up by someone who knows how to do it right. You can either play or you can't.
I was thinking of getting this one to practice on. I think it's pretty good. I wasn't expecting strat sound but it sounds good. I wish for a more full sound but I like it. I'm gonna get it. Thanx man, ur great too!

i have a big collection of guitars. i just bought a first act,and im actually impressed with it. it's a great begginer guitar. it's light, small, and rather cheap. it's really not a bad guitar.
First Act is all about getting new players to playing music. Most people don't have thousands of dollars to spend on a guitar before they know how to play it. Understanding that, we make our guitars affordable so there is a very low hurdle for anyone buy one of them - hence more people learning to play music every single day. The sound of a guitar comes more from the player of the guitar than the guitar itself. Any good player can make any guitar worth anything sound good. The hypocrites of "cheaper" guitars should play them before they run their rich snobby mouths on youtube about how bad they are. A good guitar player can make any guitar whale!!
I'm totally with you on that one. I have some expensive guitars but seriously the one I play the most is my First Act. It's got a nice crunchy tone to it and it's light weight. I love it doesn't matter how much it cost it's how you play it that makes it sound good. Fuck these assholes real musicians can make anything sound good.
Thats what im doing, i got mine for 50 bucks to it sucks sounds so weak like no pitch or great tone. It can play some songs but sounds so much better on a actual guitar not something made out of plywood.

I completely agree. Look at James Hetfeild. The guitar he plays (On Death Magntet and early C.D.s) is a japanese knock off of a Gibson V.

i dont know why people always say first act guitars are crap... they are really good i love them. i myself own a first act designer double cutaway and I LOVE IT. it has an amazing crunchy tone and the weight is perfect for me. but thats just my opinion

sorry don't like first act. Not good quality at all I own a Dean EVO/XM I would buy a Squire ot Epiphone.Anything you find at Target,Walmart ect. is junk.Music stores don't sell first act and that should tell you something.If buying a first or cheap guitar go to a local music store and get one also play it in person don't buy online specally ebay some sellers like ripping people off and selling total junk.

I personally like the way this guitar looks more than some of the classic shapes. I can't really judge it on quality though, since my guitar is even cheaper than this. Aren't those the demo songs that they have on the first act website? lol.

The sound of a guitar comes more from the player of the guitar than the guitar itself. Any good player can make any guitar worth anything sound good. The hypocrites of "cheaper" guitars should play them before they run their rich snobby mouths on youtube about how bad they are. A good guitar player can make any guitar whale!!

I'm totally with you on that one. I have some expensive guitars but seriously the one I play the most is my First Act. It's got a nice crunchy tone to it and it's light weight. I love it doesn't matter how much it cost it's how you play it that makes it sound good. Fuck these assholes real musicians can make anything sound good.

Thats what im doing, i got mine for 50 bucks to it sucks sounds so weak like no pitch or great tone. It can play some songs but sounds so much better on a actual guitar not something made out of plywood.

thats the same guitar i have but mine is black, very cheap price... but if u ask me its actually pretty good quality, i bought mine at Wal-Mart for $99.95 and the amp for $49.95, i love it!
